Tips on building left handed coordination

Im on the tennis court alot but when im not, im wishin I was and want to practice.

I want my 2hnded backhand to be the best it can be, i want it to be better than my forehand even. SO what can i do to increase my left handedness since im right handed and the 2hnded backhand for a righty uses primary the left hand.

Ive thrown the tennis ball against a wall for hours left handed but i need variety.

I know a lot of people who, when teaching a two-handed backhand, will have the student hit left handed forehand for awhile. Choke up. It may help you get the feel.

Left handed forehand, for sure, choked up.
Not every 2hbh is hit with oft hand dominance. You have to find your balance.

My game I use my left arm to control racket head rotation and will hold on with my left hand as my reaction time is faster with my left hand then right.
i serve, volley , block returns, and shots with ready position with my left hand hold on the racket then have my right hand grip into the racket as I step into the shot.
For my BH and FH I like to hold the reacket with my left forefinger and thumb adjust for the Bh or FH side.
For really slow paced balls I will regrip with my right hand a few times while I wait for the ball.

About 15 years ago I was waiting for an indoor court at a prep school. Killing time I picked up a left handed hockey stick in the gym and dribbled a floor hockey ball around and shot lefty shots at the wall. Prob 10-15 min worth until the court opened. Got on court and hit the best 2HBHs of my life. Arms were so synched up with perfect grips and doing their correct job. (Tendency for me was to push out with hands too much.)

Own a cheap lefty stick right now. I'll stick handle and shoot 50 light shots at the back of the couch before I go play.

Your welcome.

In addition to left handed forehands, an easy skill-builder is to choke up holding an eastern forehand grip with your left hand and kneel down on one knee and do down bounces. To be able to continue bouncing the ball you need to learn the rhythm and timing of the left hand as well as not use the wrist...all of which translates into skills you need to master in hitting that two-handed backhand better.

^^^ Nice one.

In general, I have found keeping my swing compact has really helped my 2hbh. I use a straight takeback, keep my left arm against my body on the takeback, swing to contact with my hands very close to my body and lean into the shot with my right shoulder. I also use a closed stance unless pulled wide.

All of these things help me more than just focusing on my left hand.
