Titan Ball Machines

Scrap that I just saw it’s now been added to the site.

Do you guys believe the remote is a must?
It's not a must. Better to get the ball collector, and better balls.
I leave my bag hanging on the fence, phone in it. Easy to get to if I need to pause or change machine settings.

My phone is always with me so that would make sense to me too.

Really appreciate that but of advice

So you can start stop the machine via your iPhone? Is that correct

Correct. The value the remote has practically is the machine not shooting balls while you walk over to your phone. It’s not a big deal; but if you are starting stopping a decent amount it gets annoying.

With the remote; it makes a little more sense to leave your bag on the bench instead of taking it with you to the baseline/fence.

I plan to share the machine with my wife.
Is that going to be a problem if she has her own drills on her phone?
How does the pairing work or what does it do exactly other than connect? Does the machine transfer and store all of our app drills when it pairs, then unloads them all when we unpair?
Do we need to pair or unpair each time we go out?

No idea but last time I went to the machine it asked me when syncing if I wanted to update the drills from my phone to the machine.

My GUESS is that if you two keep your own apps from your own phones separate; then it would work pretty seamlessly. Just a guess though on what I’d expect based on generally how it’s worked for me. Also my experience; when downloading the new app.

Correction to a much earlier post of mine.

Titan CAN actually do hand fed balls really well. Not quite as good as the slinger machine but infinitely better than proton. At least in the new app.

Here’s where I had messed up: if you increase the spin too much, it gets confused and raises the speed. Seems you can do 0-600 rpm spin settings at 5mph with 60 degree loft with the machine right around your own service line.

With the really quick feed rate; you can do some intense rapid groundstrokes off very controlled feeds.

I’ll probably post here later but separately; finally have the new app programmed to support 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, and D1 level ground stroke rally balls.

EDIT:

Actually—- that said I found a regrettable bug:

Can someone test this for me on their machine?
1
50
10
2
2

I can hit about 5 balls until it stops. If I slow down the feed rate to 3 (2.0s) I can get a few more. I can simply just start back up so the ball tub isn’t blocked.

I have the empty hopper autostop turned on; next time I make it to the court I’ll try turning that off. Before I reach out to Titan, I’m curious if anyone here has the same reproducible issue.

Is there a QR drill thread started here? If not, we should start one. With the app updated, even the youtube ones won't work anymore.

I ordered my machine late sunday, and it's being delivered FedEx today! From Iowa to Texas. The remote is being shipped separately USPS Saturday. Both gave me tracking. Again, their CS is outstanding so far!

About to pull the trigger on the Titan Ace using the black friday discount. I'm hesitant buying before seeing/trying....question to the forum is in regards to the speed setting. This is for my teenage son to practice. Top speed is 80mph. Is this close to what an average High School Player would hit for a rally? I don't want to get it if it's not going to have decent pace. Any help is appreciated!

Top speed in the app is 70mph. Top spin is 2700 rpm. These way above the level of an avg high school player rally ball. Keep in mind than the rally ball is not only about speed but also about depth. Based on my experience with titan and hitters; it can be a good rally partner up to d1 college level. Note: it can’t shift up a gear higher to simulate a ball from higher levels that is absolutely smashed… but from a rally ball perspective; it’s got a really high ceiling.

Here’s a table for reference:

Forehand Table

Class Forehand Rally Speed (mph) Topspin RPM

ATP 80 3,000

D1 College Men 75 2,800

6.0 NTRP Male 70 2,500

5.5 NTRP Male 65 2,000

5.0 NTRP Male 60 1,700

4.5 NTRP Male 55 1,500

Backhand Table

Class Backhand Rally Speed (mph) Topspin RPM

ATP 70 3,000

D1 College Men 70 2,500

6.0 NTRP Male 65 2,000

5.5 NTRP Male 60 1,800

5.0 NTRP Male 55 1,400

4.5 NTRP Male 50 1,300

Home Depot Black Friday deal: $140 for 2 Ryobi 6 amp hour 18v batteries. (Titan battery is $100). You can also get two 4 ah for $80.
Sharing in case anyone wants some extra batteries for the machine.

Some questions:

Does anyone know how to change machine position in app?

Why does the app require bluetooth while it says it's using wifi?

Any details on Titan balls? Pressureless? Who makes them? Any feedback on durability and feel?

Well, my new machine worked me well for an hour yesterday. Got to set up a couple high speed drills that wore me out!

Went to use it with my wife today and set up some begginer drills. It spit out 2 balls and quit!!!
The machine starts up and begins drills, but the carousel doesn't spin. I took out all the balls, made sure it wasn't jammed, but no spin. Any ideas?

Going to send them an error report. Really bummed as I needed the practice right now.

I tried Titan drills and drills pro apps, neither can connect to the machine (first time using machine after unboxing). Machine has 7.2 firmware.
Any ideas? Bluetooth and location enabled for app on android phone.

Titan emailed back pretty quick, and over a Saturday night! They believe the motor is bad and will ship out another. One of the FB Pickleball owners had the same issue. Said replacement was easy to do.
I'm worried though that it's something to have on hand if it's common.

Edit: Tim called and will send motor 2-day ship with link to instructional video.

I spent a couple of hours getting damn connectivity from phone to Ace machine. The antena inside the machine was angled down, I moved it up, phone connected. I don't get why such a key aspect of machine is not done properly at the factory.
Titan CS was nice to get back to me on a Sun.

I had to use the old drills app, upgrade software to latest, then use drills pro app to connect. I was not able to test the machine on court today. I hope no more issues with machine.

@MaverickTennis could you share what machine batch number did you get? There seems to be a bad batch. The number is on the box the machine came in, in red on the side of the box, 2024-xxxxxx format. Where xxxxx is the number.

Not sure how to post pics from my phone, so you'll have to see for yourself, but someone on the PB FB group 3d printed a wristband case for the Titan remote electrical guts. They're offering to send the file. Very cool!

Mine is one batch newer. You have the motor issue, I have the antena issue. Hopefully both are solved and we can enjoy the machines soon!

You can post the image on https://postimages.org , then copy the URL of uploaded image, post on here. Curious to see the 3D print.
We ordered at roughly the same time. 2024-0927 I only took mine out to get the battery and remote out to charge the battery. It’s been only 20* here for a week. I can handle cold weather but not when it went from 50 to 20 without the in between. It’s like we went straight from October to January with nothing in between.

Oh well. I have played inside a few times in the last couple of weeks. I just haven’t used a ball machine. Evidently my serve is much faster than it was a year ago according to the guys I hadn’t played since last winter.

Yep!
Today I had a quick test with Ace in driveway using a 30MPH lob drill. Actual drill worked fine. It's 40 degrees here, 20s tonight, crazy weather these days.

Has anyone used the yellow "test" button within a shot inside a drill in pro app? When I hit test, it says "command sent successfully", but nothing happens from machine. Is not machine supposed to run one ball of that shot as a test?

Ya. Machine is supposed to just shoot the one ball.

One quirk I think still is that the test and the real ball don’t match up always. So I usually test a couple and then test for real live. The Proton also seemed to have this quirk. I wonder why.

Now that you mention it, I recall the same and think it is always the first ball even when you start the drill. The first one would come out weaker, like the machine is still ramping up or something.

Even more interesting to me that you say that. Since to do the hand fed drills I do; I now learned that the first ball is a little too fast and every other ball after is spot on.

What's the best way to communicate feedback to Titan? This test button needs to be fixed, or remove. It makes me wonder how many other actions the machine is not executing from the app.
The test should match the ball of course.

To those who are using the new remote that works with the new Titan Drills Pro app; I recently received the new remote and while it works to start/stop a drill (with a long button press, just like before) it does not work to change drills using a repeated quick button press like the old remote did with the old app.

Anyone else experiencing that?

Look on their product page. At some point they removed that functionally apparently after the very early buyers bought.

Yes, that is intentional. We mentioned a few chats back. It is also mentioned on their website. They claim it was due to customer feedback.

Update: I got the new motor in 2 days. Tim sent me the next video to remove the motor from the Ace case. So this is what I'll be attempting tonight.

Got the new feed motor swapped in 25min. Easy peasy.
I took apart the worn motor gearbox and saw the smallest sprocket was completely sheared.
I took all kinds of pics but that postpics site is returning errors.

Sucks you had to deal with this on a new machine.
25min is not bad.

Site is postimage BTW.
Yea, I'd probably be pretty upset if I had to pay anything extra or spend more time on it, but it was a pretty easy swap. I am still worried that it will happen in the future and what the cost of it would be. But, Tim kept saying it was a one time only issue and shouldn't happen again. Wouldn't say what the replacement cost would be if I were out of warranty. Hopefully, like mentioned above, this was just a bad batch.

When I click on the image site with my phone or desktop, both now call it a phishing site and try to block it.

Curious though why you did the fix for a brand new machine?

Normally for a brand new machine I’d first think-
- send it back and they will fix
- they will send a new different machine, you send back other one

As a last option I see your situation.

Did you decide that you preferred to just fix it yourself with the new part?

He offered both methods, to receive the machine, fix and send back. But, I declined thinking this was the most cost effective method and was an easy fix with less down time. It's ready to go back into service for the weekend and I need it to practice before my first return back to tournaments next weekend.
I had it for at least an hour of play time the first day, and it broke down after 2 balls the next day.
I don't mind tinkering with things and knowing how they work. Now I know quite a bit more. Every part is quick and easy to replace should something else go out. The ONE model is even easier with access through the top of the case.
