Titchy tiny headed racquet 0, Sensible sized, modern game racquet 1

Federer does not want to ball bash but desperately wants to play with finesse and skill, and he has to have perfect timing to pull it off, and when he does he's masterful. I used to play with the Aeropro Drive, and switched to a Prestige 93, which was stupid. It wasn't conducive to my style I play. Federer's PS 90 is what he needs to play his game, and to reinforce that point Nadal would struggle mightily with that head size. His strokes are less precise and less technically sound, but he has a 100 so it doesn't matter. This isn't about head size at least I don't think so. But the only way to know for sure is if he does add a few sq. inches. I think Fed's struggles illustrate that the modern game is played with less risk and in terms of percentages that makes it tough for him.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Federer should switch racquets because he can't beat Djokovic playing the best tennis of his life.. can't get match points, can't beat him on clay especially.. where the weakness of a smaller frame would show up.

Oh, wait...

OP, you don't play tennis, do you?

It's ok. just leave and come back when you've tried it.

Did you watch the match?

Don't tell me you did if you seriously thought Federer wasn't trying to bash the ball aka muscle djokovic off the court.

He was on serve to win the match. Do you know what Federer does? Hit the ball absurdly hard as if trying to punish Djokovic instead of using the winning formula. So he basically errors himself out of the game. Put Djoko back, reviving his will to play, and gets stomped.

And I am saying. Switch to play that style or stop attempting to use that style.

Is that easy to understand? I hope so. Because it's impossible to get any more clear than that.
Do you mean because Federer tried to hit a big inside-out forehand on that 2nd MP? Federer has been hitting big inside-out forehand his entire career! That's his signature shot. He's made that shot millions of times with his current 90 sq. in. racquet. Why should he not go with his most reliable and trusted shot on match point?

Anyone ever heard of it not the equipment but its the player. Besides if fed feels the best with his racket then thats what he should play with. I'm pretty sure if he didnt like the feel, wilson would make him any kind of racket that he wants.

What makes you think it's the bloody racquet that made Federer closer to winning?
I don't! Did you even read this thread? I've been saying ad nauseum here for years that it's NOT about the racquet! Federer winning or losing has nothing at all to do with his racquet. He could beat or lose to anyone with the same racquet.

Cute screen name, BTW. :)

But he wouldn't know if that's the best for him until he tries a newer racquet.
Because Federer is not a 3.5 player who thinks the only way to improve in tennis is to switch racquets. That's what recreational players think. That's why racquet companies spend millions of dollars on marketing to convince consumers of that. Professionals know a lot better.

I'll entertain this silliness for a few seconds just for discussions sake.

Let's say theoretically Federer's shots would benefit from a slightly larger head, say at least going to a 95 sq inch, in terms of him shanking fewer backhands and getting a few more returns back. It's quite possibly true.

Whatever benefits he might get from that would be negated by hitting more shots long, and then becoming less confident in his stroke, probably leading to him losing to guys he normally crushes. This is why very few professionals ever really change racquets, they just get new paint jobs. They learned to play with this frame and it's an extension of their game that is integral. The guys hit thousands of balls with this exact same frame and string set up. Look at what happened with Djoker when he started using a more open string pattern a few years back...he switche right back to his old frame soon after.

At this point in his career switching racquets would more likely than not screw up his game. Sampras switched because he's not on the tour anymore and probably has more time to adjust to it..and less money on the line not ot mention a ranking.

Always a fun and pointless discussion...

The 6.1Tour90 is one of the most powerful racquets I've ever swung.. And pretty close to what Fed actually swings.

In terms of 'power potential'.. I wouldn't be surprised if Djoko's stick is actually less powerful... due to it's low-flex.... but they're definitely more versatile....

Am I good enough to win consistently with the 6.1 90T.... probably not... Do I enjoy the feel of it... Hellyeah... Do I play with mids... not anymore... and there are some major learning curves (mostly in terms of feel and power potential) that come with switching racquets.

But now I'm starting to sound like the racquets these two players were wielding make any difference.

Federer is 30... and maybe has a couple of slams left in him.... Federer's problem is not the racquet at this point... it's desire... does he want it as bad as his opponent??... or will he take the semi-final money... and relax a bit before heading down under for davis cup.

Djokovic could meet or break the greatest single season win/loss record... is 5 years younger... and looks as if he hasn't eaten bread in over a year.. ( oh wait... he hasn't.. ).. anyway... my point is he has more desire (the skills are a given when you're #1 in the world... let alone top3)... he's more hungry than anyone in the ATP... and it shows. You could put a badmiton racquet in his hands and he would find a way to win at this point.
