To all Sinner fans

Sure, he has had a great season, but imo he can improve massively, and he cant really accept a H2H like this vs Raz. I agree, AO26 is all that matters, he should use the rest of the year to aim for that, even if it could cost him YEC and a few masters.

Agreed. Having another hugely successful season, winning the tournament that he craved more than any other, while still also having clear room to significantly improve his game (notably his serve and adding more variety to his patterns of play) is a good and encouraging sign from his perspective.

Brad Gilbert recently said on the Roddick podcast that he didn't think Sinner was the finished product yet - I definitely agreed with that.

r u kidding?
winning two slams and all finals played
how come u shall feel sad?
Lol who should be sad and depressed over a guy (win or lose) who doesn’t even know who you are? Very unhealthy post by OP.
If Jannik won, great. If Carlos won, great. If someone else wins, great! Don’t let it ruin your day. It’s entertainment for fans lol.

In usual circumstances I would agree. Alcaraz still being down in head to head against old Djokovic is a real joke. But Sinner being down 7-1 against Alcaraz in the last two years is even worse.

You wouldnt give Alcaraz credit if he had a winning H2H against Djokovic. It's a lose lose situation and displays true bad faith on your part.

Not really, considering that Alcaraz is two years younger (so 8 slam participations basically) and that HC is supposed to be Sinner's turf.

At this point I would honestly say Sinner needs coaching change pronto, either Becker or Ivanisevic IMO.
Depends on if we're talking about this season or the overall macro view of their careers. Obviously Carlos was already ahead and is younger so he doesn't need it as much if we just care about how they do relative to each other when their careers are over. But I think it's too early to worry about stuff like that.

When they're this young I view things more in the moment, and Carlos needed this more right now. It would've been a bad look for him if he let his main rival win 3 slams and runaway with #1 in a year where he was suspended for 3 months.

Sorry, here we talk in English, not Excusish. Sinner was 100% fit, he attributed the loss to Raz. Just like Raz served poorly at the W 2025 final despite being healthy, Sinner served poorly in the USO 2025 final despite being healthy. It happens.
Hey's it's the media outlets & Reddit threads, not me. They put it out there and it's true. Just being objective.
- that ab injury TO during FAA match means 100% healthy. He has served poorly since.
- drop of 10% less 1st serve percentage and speed are signs of 100% healthy Sinner.

Agree, no excuses, because he could have won with a minor ab injury but obviously did not serve like himself.
So not a 100% legit win. If Sinner served well like at Wimby or FO, different story and maybe 5 sets with either of them winning.

Carlos dominates USO final with new strategy. Is his coaching that good or was Sinner still feeling the effects, no matter what he says.

PS: I said he same thing when Djokovic beat Alcaraz in that FO semi when he got cramps. Carlos was on the way back with momentum in the 3rd and probably would have beaten Djokovic, then would have played Ruud and had 7 slams.

Becker and Goran worked out for Djoko, doesn’t mean they would work out for anyone else. How many coaches do you see guide multiple players to Slams?

HIRE BORIS BECKER JANNIK. Enough of this nonsense on serve and losing to Carlos.

Dude no offense but Becker is not professional enough for Sinner. I love BB too, but he’s a loser and is finished at the top of the game. His travel restrictions are just one reason no one will hire him.

It worked with Djoko because they are both skirt hunters and enjoyed each other’s company that way. Sinner just wants to ski and win slams

Sinner's 1st serve percentage in the fourth set was 36%. I like Cahill but am looking forward to a fresh start when he leaves and let's get a serve expert (Salzenstein, Goran) to tweak the first serve. Seems like Jannik did try something new this tournament, a lower toss but it's not helping.
It's frankly unacceptable that Sinner has that percentage of first serves and can't do any damage with this weapon against Alcaraz.

Let’s not be sad and depressed , Carlos played match of the life and he deserved to win a slam on HC after three years. Sinner has won 2 slams this year and it has been a great year for him by any means. Imo Carlos needed this slam more than Sinner did after Sinner dented Carlos’s turf at Wimbledon , this win was great for the tennis , it shifted the balance. @dking68 if you’re reading this then lemme know if you’re okay, i texted you but you didn’t reply back to me, cheers man it’s just a sport
u call that hardcourt? The most slowed hardcourt in north america and the most high bounce, i wonder why they re-sanded it in March to fit more clay caratheristic

But the thing is Sinner can improve his H2H against Carlos but I'm not sure if Carlos has the time to do that against Novak.

Your problem is you focus on Djokovic too much. Alcaraz has owned sinner in most the matches and won more tournaments this year. Carlos back to no1, won more events and they level in slams. Alcaraz deserves to be no1 as we sit.

Your obsession for players to beat Djokovic clouds your rational thinking sir.

I think it's very rational to think a peaking ATG shouldn't lose at a slam to an ATG three generations before him.

And who said Alcaraz doesn't deserve to be #1? We're talking about a 2-2 slam tiebreak...not the #1 ranking.

But likewise in the last two years, Alcaraz failed to go beyond the quarterfinals of 10 big tournaments.

I'm not happy with Cahill since the start of the NA hardcourt swing. He has had a bit of a history of this with some big players he has coached. Leaving them a bit rudderless or unprepared for big finals and letting them down. Alcaraz was in damn good form at this US Open and Cahill did not do enough supports for Sinner.

There's a bit of saltiness/emotion on my part in saying this, but I wish the coaching handover was still happening at the earlier original schedule on the back of this.

Gotta give huge credit to both Alcaraz and his team, they were amazing, but I'm not happy with the way things ended out.

If anything, this loss will give Sinner a kick up the tail to find new ways to improve his game.

People complaining about Cahill here...that's just mind-blowing.

Darren has a lot to do with Sinner's incredible success and there's no world in which he would have been better off without him.

If Sinner fans with the year he has had need to be consoled because he lost a final to Carlos, they probably aren't really fans of tennis.

It's a tug of war, or a game of chess. Now time for Team Sinner to analyze what went down and make adjustments. It all seems very logical and natural, what transpired. Team Sinner had been trying to figure out the Alcaraz puzzle and finally broke through at Wimbledon (despite the H2H still looking rough). Team Alcaraz then looked at the tape and drew their conclusions and went to do work (a story on this on the ATP Tour website). Now Alcaraz is again the hunted. Always tougher to stay ahead of the curve. We will see if Team Alcaraz is able to do this or not. What helps is the seemingly upgraded serve. Stats support that this wasn't a one-off. Much more accurate on average this year. Hitting closer to the service box lines. He also surpassed the ace count of the previous year already by Wimbledon this year.

I agree with the previous poster. Cahill was key in elevating Sinner's game. He had plateaued with Piatti, and was able to take the next step with Vagnozzi and Cahill. A lot to be thankful for. Now it's either down to Vagnozzi to guide him forward or they add another co-coach. As has been said by many, a master of the serve could be a timely add.

If Sinner loses to him, another 3 times in a row or so, Sinner desperately needs to get rid of Cahill and get Becker/Goran. Or else he will get dusted behind. But what I will say, for the benefit of his doubt, the ball bounce played a lot in the outcome of this result. Sinner only generated 1BP. That’s really concerning.

I think he needs a fresh perspective regardless

And I dont want to make any excuses about the bounce or the court speed, he needs to evolve. The head to head is bad enough already, and 2 of those matches, he should've won. He needs to develop a killer mindset on crucial points

The good thing is, there are a lot of things he can actually improve, meaning his ceiling is very high.

Yes, especially the serve. But I will say, even if he had served over 60%, he was still losing the match, perhaps in a tighter four setter or 5, but he was still going to lose. Because he wasn't doing respectable damage on the return, to break serve.

Serve is first and foremost. But he can also see how the slice was hurting him, how to deal with the angles and also the defensive looping forehands. There are many things to work on and grow as a player.

Right the looping forehands, coupled with the bounce of the court - Jannik was not comfortable with. And this pattern, I saw when he lost in the Rome final, which if im not mistaken, the court that is known to bounce Notoriously high. Definitely needs a new approach on how to deal with the bounce and play it in his favor

This is the really crazy part. Sinner's results since January 2024

Overall:
Against Alcaraz 1-7
Against Others 109-4

On Hard Courts:
Against Alcaraz 0-4
Against Others 68-1

In Slams:
Against Alcaraz 1-3
Against Others 48-1

Winning Wimbledon was so important to be honest. Imagine going 0-4 against Alcaraz in Slams on all surfaces and 0-8 overall AFTER hitting Slam-winning form! Would have also meant trailing 3-7 in Slams won as opposed to 4-6, which is a key difference given he is a couple of years older than Alcaraz.

He simply need to understand when that ball is coming and what to do with it.

Isn't Cahill about to leave anyway after this season?

Sinner made a bet with Cahill that if he won Wimbledon (which he did), he would stay until the end of 2026. So my guess is, he's staying until the end of 2026. But tbh, he needs a change

Not a Sinner fan, but it's important for him to finish the year strong. Winning a M1000 as Paris/Shanghai plus the ATP Finals would help leading to the AO (even if he fails to regain the #1 ranking). In 2013 Djokovic after losing in Canada & USO to Nadal was able to get some revenge at the China Open and ATP Finals which helped him regain confidence.

Sinner made all slam finals. Alcaraz lost in quarter of AO.

You have to look at the full picture, it is 128 man tournament.

Nope, nobody looks at finals losses as an advantage, told ya ;)

Losing in big stages in a huge minus, a blot, the way we see it, Alcaraz owns Sinner and is the true winner of the year 2025, not Sinner.

We only look at who won and who did not win the trophy, it is that binary.

We've had this discussion, and you already know I totally disagree with your notion. We don't need to rehash this again, it is fine we don't see eye to eye on this.

But Losing finals give you extra money ,no?? Since you prefer money over slams so you should prefer extra slam finals

Sinner did not loose to Oldkovic this year like Alcaraz. ATP Tour 2025 Alcaraz wins, Majors only - Sinner Wins

What will Federer or Nadal do with some peanuts ???

Nadal skipped tournaments like a boss when he felt he could not win it and when he had a shot at it, he entered and gave it is everything.

It is better than daily reaching the finals and losing to so many different players. Remember, losing in finals always raises eyebrows because when you play yourself into form you are expected to perform at the main event. Nadal in 2011 lost to Djokovic in finals so many times, that did raise eyebrows and Nadal himself agreed that he was in his prime and struggling only to Novak.

So losing in finals is never a good thing for GOAT candidates, you might as well lose in the 1st week or you better bring your everything to the final like Sampras did in his prime years.

Even after donating 100s of millions Fedal , especially Fed will have crazy money left with them so they will donate those millions for 4-5 slams. Making 10-15 losing finals will give you extra 50 million since you’re a fan of money over slams so you will prefer a player making slam finals regularly

Nonsense logic.

Dont troll man.

Man I applied your own logic and premise here lol, okay tell me will you prefer 2 slams or 18 slam finals?

You never understood my logic, I never said some second tier guy like Murray or Hewitt or Roddick should lose in round 1 or round 4 instead of reaching final to get a shot at glory.

Sinner should win urgently a minor title, and possibly Shanghai M1000 in order to recover the confidence he lost after the suspension, since Carlitos will be overplayed from now on.
Then again, now that the blueprint to beat Jannik is out and proved, let's see if the rest of the tour can exploit it.
The rest of the tour is never going to do that, assuming you mean the blueprint is sheer variety and disruption. It's too late for Djokovic, Fritz, Zverev etc to change and the only people who could copy Alcaraz would be a constantly debilitated Draper and Shelton. Sinner is going to remain the unconstesed no. 2 and as a result of Alcaraz's poor performance on indoor hc, he has a solid chance of stealing no. 1.

A slam final is the biggest stage in tennis and a 2-1 H2H is not ownership. Alcaraz lost to Sinner in the final of Wimbledon...his favorite slam where he was the 2-time defending champion.

Alcaraz is 2 years younger, he can afford to lose at Wimbledon but Sinner is at his peak age of 24, he cannot lose his pet turf (HC).

So Alcaraz indeed owns Sinner on the big stage.
