Hi Chris, I noticed this morning you were showing off the 10 Tour and 10 Mid. Judging by your initial impressions do you think they are a step up from the V Sense 10 mp 325 in terms of playability and feel?

As a part 2 to this question, you mentioned the new 10 Tour is Almagro's racquet of choice. You also mentioned his set up. Would you know what his set-up (weight, lead, etc) is? Thanks!

Chris is out of the office today. I will have him answer this question when he gets back.

    Thanks,

Out of the two I prefer the 10 Tour -- especially when set up like Almagro's racquet. In stock form I feel there's ample room to customize to your own taste, but giving his spec a try is well worth the effort.

    Almagro's specs unstrung:
    335g,
    31cm balance,
    304SW,
    leather grip.

If you want something firmer and crisper feeling from a Volkl, the 10 Mid is worth a try. It has quite a lively string pattern so it's a fairly easy mid to get pace and spin with.

My favorite recent 10 is still the Super G 10 295. I like that racquet a lot in stock form and it is prime for customization to beefier specs for those that like to swing with some mass.

    Cheers,
    Chris, TW

    Chris,

Does the 10 Mid have more of a circular head shape than the traditional Volkl egg shape? I played with the Super G 10 Mid 320 a while back and liked everything except the head shape.

    Thanks,

    Doc

The 10 Mid has an interesting head shape. It's almost squared off at 10 & 2 and has a more oval shape at the throat. It really doesn't feel like a traditional Volkl to me as it has a more modern, crisper, firmer and more powerful response. For instance it is very different to a C10 Pro or PB10 Mid.

Yes, we will stock grommets for the new Volks.

Can you provide a brief comparison of the 10 Tour and the V-Sense V1 Pro regarding feel, comfort, and response off the string bed? I put a leather grip on one of my V1 Pros and hit it yesterday. It's now much more in line with my traditional frame preferences, but I think I'll have to add a few grams at either 3/9 or 12 for proper balance.

I much prefer a constant, thin beam, so I wonder if forgiveness and comfort are all I would be compromising with a 10 Tour purchase, unless comfort levels are equal? Thanks.

Sorry. I have not hit the V-Sense V1 Pro but I would imagine they are going to feel pretty differently.
    Cheers,

No problem. So . . . would you call the 10 Tour a plush/muted frame or crisp? I'm assuming the comfort level is pretty high either way, but I favor muted/plush. Thanks.

The 10 Tour is plush, the 10 Mid crisp. I really like the 10 Tour when weighted up to Almagro spec which is easy to do with a leather grip and a little weight tape.

Thanks. Ironically enough, I strung a few for a friend this weekend who happened to get his hands on some. Just bouncing the ball on the string bed, it reminded me of the duel g 310 that you recommended to me last fall. That was a special frame with 3-5 grams of lead at 3/9, but a case of TE coincided with my hitting it, so I had to put it down. Can't know for sure until I hit this volkl, but plush is definitely what I felt. My v-sense v1 pros are pillows; these are plush.

    CHOcobo,

There will be a review for both the 10 Mid and 10 Tour. We should have the videos up by the end of this week with the written to follow in 1-2 weeks.

    Thanks,
    Brittany, TW

While reviewing 10 Tour did you get a chance to do a side-by-side comparison to PB 10 mp light?

Does the 10 mid really have tweener power levels and characteristics?

The Specs on the Racket Page say:
    Power Level: Low-Medium
    Stroke Style: Medium-Full
    Swing Speed: Medium-Fast

Which are typically associated with tweeners, not players rackets which tend to be low, full, and fast.

    Automatix,

No ETA at this time but if I were to guess, just a few weeks.

    Thanks,

@TW Staff Can any of the playtesters comment on the Vsense 10 mid's power levels and characteristics in respect to a tweener racket?

    Power Level: Low-Medium
    Stroke Style: Medium-Full
    Swing Speed: Medium-Fast
