im huge fed fan and im really thankful novak djokovic
sure , djokovic stop many fed 's slam title
but djokovic also stop many nadal 's slam title well ( etc . 11 wimbledon final , 11 uso final 12 ao final , 15 fo qf , 18 wimbledon sf , 19 ao f )
If Djokovic hadn't played tennis, Nadal would have already surpassed 20 slams.

Thankful for seeing another great in the mix during the 2010s, thought we would have had more of the same old same old until he really burst in 2011. Seeing Nadal struggle heavily against one opponent on a regular basis was fascinating as well.

Not thankful for him denying Federer another three Wimbledon titles though. Sometimes it's annoying how difficult he is to beat.

You forget that Djokovic stopped Federer too, more so from 2014 onwards.

Otherwise, we should be "thankful" to him for showing us that Fed has problems in closing matches against him.

As usual, when any "new user" is grandiose in their statement, "I am a HUGE fan of Fed!" (or Rafa, or Nole), they doth protest too much. Fandom never has to be announced, it's inherent within the poster's posts.

In any case, "Fed fan," had Djokovic not been around, Fed would have been sitting on about 26 majors now. One would think you could have figured that one out.

Not bad for a "boring pusher with average talent", huh?

At least that's how some people described him...

the OP seems obsessed in his threads with what might have been. It wasn't. Time to move on.

There's been a recent thread where I think it was reasonably demonstrated that Djokovic had denied Federer more slams than he's denied Nadal. So in that regard, I'm not thankful for Novak. With no Novak, Nadal might be past 20 slams but Federer would be past 25 slams.

In the context of him making tennis more interesting by mixing up the Fedal duopoly then yes, I am thankful for it. I also feel that his presence has motivated both Federer and Nadal to stay on longer than they would have otherwise done, which I'm happy for

You should be thankful to Nadal too for stopping Djokovic.
The only one Fed should not thank at all is himself.

Djokovic in slams is 10-6 against Federer and 6-9 against Nadal.

Are you sure Federer owes Djokovic anything?

Nadal wasn't going to win RG 2015 anyway. And the truth is Djokovic actually hurt Federer more than he did hurt Nadal. So right now the trolls from Federer's fanbase (not to get confused with real fans) don't like him as much as they liked him in 2011. :-D:-D:-D:-D
Yep. In no world is a Fed fan thankful for Djoker. Unless they are a "glory" fan who is all about numbers. Any slam taken from my guy hurts, I dont care about how many he takes from someone else. Plus, lets not pretend like Djoker is done here. It is plausible he ends up on top... so no, I am not thankful as a Fed fan.

But even as a Fed fan, an ATG like Djoker is still good for the game.

On a regular basis, he is indeed more aggresive. But there are exceptions. In the Wimbledon 2018 SF Nadal was surprisingly more offensive than Djokovic. But that was an exception rather than the norm.
Rafa has tweaked his game a bit on grass and it's beautiful to watch him on grass these days . Maybe i am saying controversial but Rafa at Wimbledon 2010-11 was boring to watch .

Last 3 years , he has been playing GR8 on grass with aggressive tactics . And all 3 matches at Wimbledon he produced are Great matches .
Against Muller , Djokovic and Fed . and also against Delpo .

Good analysis. His match against Federer in the WB 2019 SF showed (I believe) that his old defensive tactic was more effective against him on grass. Problem is, Rafa has lost much of that diabolic speed, and so he has no option than to evolve and adopt a more aggresive style.

To be honest, the only reason why I was not particularly upset when Nadal lost to Djokovic in the WB 2018 SF is because I loved the match. Both Nadal and Djokovic were making impressive shots. When I finished the match, I was satisfied because I loved how Nadal played with serve and volley, drop shots, no-look smashes, backhand winners... I mean, it's the sport you sometimes win and sometimes lose. In that match, Djokovic was super clutch and won. No reason to be upset.

I think that mentality has worn off with Djokovic being the only road-block to a multitude of Slams at this point.

2011 USO
2014 WMB
2015 WMB
2019 WMB

Those are near guaranteed Fed titles (yes 2011 USO over Nadal, so many indicators Roger wins in 4 if not 3).

2008, 2011 & 2016 AOs

I know Federer had mono in 2008 and I do think it took him down a peg but realistically he didn't have trouble with Blake, played Novak close for the 3 sets and the opponents of Murray twice and Tsonga don't indicate to me as favoured against him. Just to be fair I'm not assuming all of those are title wins by Roger but at least 1 if not 2 can be considered. We will say 2 for this exercise.

That puts Federer at 26 Slam titles.

Nadal's only absolute wins sans Djokovic is the 2018 Wimbledon & 2019 Australian titles. Putting him at 21 Slams. On top of that, yes the 2011 Wimbledon and 2012 Australian are probable victories but not absolutes (especially Tsonga on grass in 2011) so we'll bump him to 23.

That's Roger 26>23. So now at this juncture, it looks to me Novak did more damage to Fed than Nadal.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Fedr the Wise? I thought not, it's not a story the Vamos Brigаde would tell you. Darth Fedr was a Dark Lord of the Swiss, so talented and so sexi that he could use the court to influence the FedFans to create.....memes. He had such a knowledge of the Dark Side that he could even save the ones he cared about....from losing to Nadal. Unfortunately Darth Fedr taught the Djoker everything he knew. Then the Djoker joined with Nadal...and overtook him in the rankings. It's ironic....he could save others from Nadal but not himself.

yeah but Djokovic is responsible for Nadal being only 1 trophy behind Federer at the USO. He was also responsible for Nadal beating Borg’s consecutive years of winning at RG. Thanks to Djokovic Nadal joined Fedrer and Borg as the only 3 players to win a major 5 consecutive years.

it’s Söderling you should thank for not kattunge Rafa win a major 10 years in a row.

Let's simply ignore the fact that nadal's game is much more enjoyable to watch than djok:cautious:

I, as a Fed but also a tennis fan in the first place, thank for all the great players who transcended this sport to another level.
