The title of this thread has nothing to do with Rafa.

You said you never post about Fed????

Must have been lying, Rafa would be very disappointed in you.

Federer is not retiring even though he's not going to Rio, so indeed he made it beyond Rio ... probably.

He didn't.
Exactly. I love Federer but he feel short by a few weeks. I was really hoping he could win one more big one. The Olympic gold in singles would have absolutely completed his resume but alas it was not meant to be. If he continues to play it is because of sheer love of the game.

Plus federer isn't even relevant these days and especially not anymore this year. Why talk about him?
Awwwwww is someone sad his guy isn't as popular than someone passed his prime and still manages to live in his shadow? :(

Fed has made 3 finals and 2 semi finals, if that is relevant than I don't know what is, but having read your other posts you're an obvious troll so nothing new there.

A few? He's skipping 8 that he normally or often plays: Toronto, Olympics, Cincinnati, US Open, Shanghai, Basel, Paris, WTF. That's more than he has played this year.

Well Yeah! A whole lot of them :D But he did not announce his retirement and he is plannning to come back next year. So unless the world ends or Federer suddenly decides to retire , he's not done just yet. :)

Well, yes I can. Whatever he does or doesn't do next year won't alter the fact that he didn't make it to Rio.

Well at least his excuse is that he's actually injured. Better than other players who have pulled out because of "health concerns."

Huh ? How is it a fact that he didn't last till Rio? What the hell do you exactly mean by 'last'? It seems to me that anyone with even a half a brain that 'last' here means retire from tennis. He has not retied from tennis yet, ergo he has lasted beyond Rio, assuming he does not retire in two weeks time.

My god how the hate for Federer makes some people utterly stupid. Particularly Nadal and Djokovic fans. Quite sad.

In defence of @Mainad, he's:

1) not a hater
2) not a troll
3) a giant Murray fan
4) literally one of the 10 best posters on these boards

2012 he won a slam and got the #1 ranking back. I'd say that's pretty special.

Last year he reached two grand slam finals in a row, and introduced us all to Sabr @ Cincy, where he took out your boy. That's pretty special too.

Lol you going back 4 years, plus that win at Wimbledon happened before London Olympics, we are talking from London Olympics to Rio Olympics. Yeah wow he can win cincy servebotting, big wow! :D

Enjoy Novak winning a record 30th masters title tonight while your boy is all washed up hahaha :D

But if he comes back next year, and all signs point to that happening, you won't really be able to make that statement.
Just because he doesn't announce retirement doesn't mean that he made it to Rio. He has to actually play at Rio to be considered making it to Rio. As I said, we don't know if he will ever be able to come back.

Rio was just as much an arbitrary point in time as it was an event. It merely signalled that he wasn't expecting to be around for Tokyo 2020.
