Today I stopped being a tennis fan

So I had my last tennis match of my life today and broke my 5th racket in 3 years of playing tennis. I was playing my best tennis 1 year ago and started declining and declining. Now I'm back to playing my 1st year level of tennis. I don't want to waste any more time or money. I'm done.

And I also stopped being a Djokovic fan. This clown doesn't deserve the French Open title and will never be near Nadal or Federer in terms of success. He is just a loser. He's lucky if he gets to 10 GS titles by the end of his career. Just a mediocre GS champion, nothing more.

It's kind of strange that it happened on the same day. I lost my love for playing tennis myself and also for Djokovic.

Just because you are having a bad year...don't give up on this beautiful sport.

Try to figure what is going wrong....

I get it if you quit watching Tennis because of Djokovic. My father despises him....and takes joy in his loses. :)

If you believe winning 8 slams or 10 is mediocre then maybe you have never understood tennis at all.

You are going through a slump. Hope you recover soon.

How pathetic. Djokovic got blasted off the court by an unbelievable demonstration of pure hitting. Nothing he could have done.

You'll be back. Tennis is a lifelong commitment, with occational breaks and a lot of let-downs.

See you soon.

Gonna miss your lovely avatar :)

8 slams is hardly mediocre. It turns out Djokovic is another Lendl, another great player who missed his chance at goathood due to not capitalizing in slam finals. The only clown here is OP though.

Common Cortana do not let the heat of the moment dictate your action.Cheer up!

He lost 8 out of 16 finals. He could have won many more GS titles by now. If you count the FO SF he actually lost 9 out of 17 opportunities to win a GS title.

That's just weak, let's face it! Absolutely weak compared to Nadal and Federer. He is the best player in the world since 2011 but he never peaks at GS events, just at masters events.

Sorry for your playing issues, but you calling Djokovic a clown is a joke. People on here are ridiculous when they say he'll never be near Federer or Nadal. Yeah, and?... The sport of tennis has seen thousands and thousands of players go through the pro tour, Djokovic is tied for 8th EVER for most Grand Slams. EVER. You simply have too high expectations, which is the result of people being spoiled by Federer and Nadal's dominance. Is there something wrong with Djokovic finishing with 10 Grand Slams? Only an utter idiot would complain.

Good then get the **** out of these forums. BYE BYE.

Also the fact that he/she is gonna stop supporting him for one loss.

Nothing but a joke.

Not to mention breaking 5 racquets, that must be a record in rec level... Not precisely an intelligent record to hold...

Maybe Joker just had a bad day ?

Take a break and get back to tennis. Keep fit in the meantime -- gym, running, aerobics.

I'm not surprised Wawrinka won. He's shown many times in the last 2 years that when he is firing on all cylinders he can blow any of the Big 3 off the court. His biggest problem has been consistency and a tendency to choke at big moments. Of the Big 3 I think he probably relishes playing Djokovic the most having had a couple of close 5 setters (and winning one) against Djoko at the AO. Hats off to Wawrinka. Djokovic is all time great already but he has a way to go to gain entry to the GOAT discussion.

Ironically, the happiest person today is probably Fed, sitting at home sipping some Moet Chandon and cheering for his countryman :)

It's not just one loss, it's all the losses. He had 17 oppurtunities to win a GS title and he only got to 8. I can't take it anymore, it's reducing my lifespan.

He has 8 wins and 8 losses in slam finals.
That is 50%, less than average. I ddin't make these numbers up. He'll probably get his FO but his record in slam finals is not good.
It's better than Lebron who will be 2-4 though.

What's the point of getting mad over Novak's losses?
They are his losses not yours. (and i'm saying this as a Djoker fan)

Just focus on your game and don't get over-emotional over things like this, which if you think about it, in the scheme of things, it's a very little problem for you when Djokovic loses.

Me too. I'm feeling devastated. It's not Djokovic. He really had tough draw, he was doing the best he can, he just ran out of gas. But ....I just can't take it anymore. It hurts like hell. And somehow I feel whole world is against us, him.... whatever.
Whole Philip Chatrier was over the moon because Djokovic lost. They were all joyfull, they were clapping in the end and Djokovic cried....again. Why ? For the first time I dare to ask him why did you cry in front of those people who just love to see you second ?!?

As Djokovic himself said - there are more important things than wins in life.
So, farewell from mee too.

It's pretty mental that you've interpreted the fans giving Djokovic that ovation as them being over the moon that he lost.

Mental ? Who was public rooting for the whole time ? Last year also ? And thesame thing happened at the ceremony. Give me a break.

It's actually 8 of 17, but so what?

Yes, it would be better if Djokovic won all 17 Major finals he's appeared in, but so what? We can say the same about the Major final losses suffered by Federer and Nadal.

Are you seriously saying that it would be better for Djokovic to be 8 out of 8 in Major finals at this point of his career and to have not gotten to an additional 9 finals?

True Novak fans don't just give up on him - just since Novak has been winning a lot, many people jumped on his bandwagon. Now he loses one match and you're all leaving?

I am dismayed by some of these people who claim to be Novak fans.

The slam finals help Djokovic keep the #1 ranking.....
So if you value the rankings more than you value slams  , you'll be happy with Djokovic's finals appearances.

But you were always one of the reasonable Djokovic fans brother!

You Hitman, the guy from Newcastle Australia, Djoko11...And you guys never trolled the other fan bases and yet you can now take the loss in a dignified manner.

Only the trolls seem to be hurting on this one. The final script is not written for Novak and RG he still has two years to make his mark and he's too damn good not to get it done.

He is still having an amazing season and he will continue to crush the dreams of the all hardcore trolls such AngryB and ThunderVolley.

wow imagine if a tennis professional had this mindset or lack of willingness to face adversity, djokovic would had retired in 2010 like he almost did

Can't you guys understand my frustration? I'm watching this guy all these years getting so much hate and disrespect. I'm watching him losing and losing all over again. I was so damn sure that he will do it today, but he didn't.

Most Novak fans have been really classy just like Novak.

Kudos to you.

OP, don't worry. Novak has few more majors in him

Give yourself a couple of days break.

Federer and Nadal simply have additional tools. Fed, in his loss, would have tried a million things- slice , s&v, defense, offense, GOAT serve.

Those things make the difference when an opponent zones.

Novak is highly consistent. When the opponent is on fire, it is difficult for him to offset that.

What is it you want from him? Build a GOAT-worthy resume? That seems to be the source of your frustration.

He's an all-time great. He's put himself firmly in Lendl territory of greatness, with a three or four more years left to go well beyond. People often place Lendl in the top ten in GOAT lists, sometimes even in the top 5.

And if you think there's shame in that, then I don't know what to tell you.

I started watching Fed in 2008. Basically when he started losing and losing all over again, including to your guy. I haven't given up. Right now being a Djok fan is still much more fun than being a Fed fan.

Thanks for these words :) Novak will move on with his life, so will we - who knows what other titles are in store for him.
The most important thing was that we all got to see some superb, HQ tennis, and this makes Wimbledon even more interesting! Look forward to seeing Novak, Stan, Fed and Murray et al. in action again in a few weeks
