Toni Nadal : ´ Djokovic is winning everything when Federer and Nadal are not at their best´

Tatenda

Semi-Pro
Toni Nadal had quite a curious opinion about Novak Djokovic 's domination . According to Toni, the reason for the Serb ' s success has also been the loss of form of Nadal and Federer : the Spaniard has not won a Grand Slam title since winning at Roland Garros in 2014 and the Swiss since the 2012 Wimbledon.
' I like to analyse things deeply: Djokovic is an extraordinay player , not only now but he has always been, since the first time I saw him playing I knew he was going to be one of the best, but I also think something has happened that has been great for him , and I am not trying to make it seem like he doesn’ t deserve to be where he is but the truth is he has not competed against the best version of Federer in this year -and- a -half where he has won a lot , because Federer is obvioulsy not the same as he was in 2006 or in 2008 or in 2009 and he has also not competed against the best version of Nadal , against the level Rafa was in 2006 or, 2008 or 2009 or even in 2013, though he didn´t win as much , ' said Toni. ' And Rafael Nadal in 2014 and 2015 has not been the same and that´s when he started winning . With these two not at at their best, he has been ' unstoppable' but if hey had been better, we might see them winning more and not only Djokovic winning everything . '

Finally, Toni says something factual. You tell them Toni.

Everybody knows it's true.

So, according to uncle Toni, if Djokovic had to deal with prime Nadal and prime Federer, he would not have won all those tournaments in the last year and a half? No ****, Toni. Toni's words are pearls of wisdom.

Yeah right. We've seen how well Djokovic has dealt with the pressure and criticism when the FO rolls around.

As if the French Open is the only Slam that is left this year when there are three more as well as Masters and the YEC. Maybe to you, the French is all that matters, for reasons we both know, but to others it is not.

The FO means squat to me but it certainly means something to your idol. ;)

Wow Toni sounds like he is a member of this forum. Look at the wording. It is almost verbatim. He just went in and disturbed the hornet's nest. Bad idea. Please do it. Please irritate and rile Nole up as much as you can. I welcome it.

Just confirms what I've suspected all along - so called "tennis experts" are definitely reading TTW.
If you want to project a view onto the tennis community, just post here.

You mean 1 of the 4 GS. Yea it definitely means something. He is not my idol but he is my favorite player. I worship no man although I'm not sure I can say the same about some of you.

Where has this guy been hiding the last 18 months? ND has been the best in the Mens side for a while, so trite comments like this are anal.

Many more members here may cry after French is over I think.

Don't get so cocky. Djokovic doesn't have ownership of the next few slams despite what what you and others seem so sure of. You just don't know what will happen.

I am the last person to worship any players. I tell it like it is even if my favorite players are involved.

I may be wrong but Djokovic is currently the holder of 3 out of 4 Slams. I'm sure you do.

I think I am aware of that. Look, all I'm saying is that we can't predict what will happen with 100% certainty. I thought a lot of my favorite players in the past would go on winning forever and guess what, it never works out that way. Things happen. Players have blips, players have comebacks, players get injured, players lose motivation, players decline, players have to face younger generations, etc. etc. Novak could go on and win the next three slams or he may win none or one, we don't know.

Hmm... Nadal wasn't exactly setting the world on fire in 2006. 2009 he was injured most of the year
Nadal is always allowed excuses but PPl like Nole and Fed hardly ever take multiple months off Fed who hasn't skipped a slam in over 15 years, Novak hasn't missed a slam since 2005 either. None of these players ever had a silent ban.

Who cares about "ifs" in sports? Every achievement can be downplayed "if" something else happened instead. What is this imaginary world people live in where every great player is playing his best tennis at exactly the same time as the others? We're lucky enough if two of them overlap for a year or two. The only reason to say something like this is insecurity.

It's like an obsession with describing reality (what actually happens in the real world) as an abnormality compared to what "should've happened" - the normal and logical world of the... imaginary. Crazy.

No Hordak fan can be unreasonable, that's the fact. :P
Good post!

He was injured from RG to like some of the summer hardcourt season. How is that most of the year?

Yeah because Federer 2008 was obviously his best. Wasn't that the year that ******** was invented???

At the end of the day there is not much one can do regarding the level of other players... Djokovic has made the absolute best of the current level of the ATP and elevated his game at the right time. I am a Nadal fan and will never forget the 2011 season, Djokovic took it to Nadal who was coming off of one of the best years of his career, 2010... 2011 was no fluke. I also will never forget 2012 and 2013 where Nadal turned the tables on Djoko. Regardless, let's give credit where credit is due

This is all true and only idiots would disagree. Djokovic was always going to be nadal's heir to the throne just as nadal was to federer. Nadals two uso wins over djokovic, on djokovic's best surface does show that nadal's best was better than djokovic on any surface bar indoors and plexicushion. Federer at his best was better than djokovic on anything.

But, nothing lasts forever, djokovic is now top man and deservedly so. For toni nadal to publicly state these comments is classless and rafa needs to tell him to shut up, just as djokovic has done to his father before.

While fans have a right to criticise players etc, I find it sad that so many high profile people like murray, and toni nadal and various newspapers seek to fenigrate djokovic. Djokovic is now the greatest player in the world, he has not claimed nadal and federer are at their peak...did toni need to come out with this? Classless.

Bless you for being more rational than most! Djokovic had 2 true rivals over this era where he's just gone in front in H2H unlike this fake rivalry of Nadal and Federer when there's still a huge imbalance! Fedal love is still rampant and quite delusional IMO! Roger has to hope for injury, defeats, or zoning to even come close to winning an event when they are in the draw! ;-)

Though there is some truth to what he said, it's a not a good thing to say. Now Becker will do his thing.

I dont understand, Nadal is clearly the best player in the world right now and will win every clay tournament there is ...

How is Djokovic "dominant" ?

Nadal has French won ..

I understand your point... However, In my opinion, regardless of the H2H numbers, the Nadal Federer rivalry will go down as one of the best and most breathtaking to watch... You can't deny that '06 through '10 Nadal v Federer matches were the most anticipated and lived to the hype 95% of the time

Well not really ... I think Nadal won .... ALL of them ??

Tennis is boring now that Nadal is dominating again, ironic that people bemoaned Djokovic's brief dominance when it was Nadal that has been dominating since 2006, and now will continue to do so for another 3 years ... minimum ..
