Toni Nadal believes that Rafael Nadal will be back on tour at Australia in 2022

I wouldn't be shocked if he plays it, but he almost certainly won't be in any decent form to challenge for the title.

I'm still betting against him playing, but would like to see him there in any healthy form.

We've seen enough of Rafa-Novak at this point.

I need to see Uncle Toni and Srdjan face off.

I thought about including this to calm expectations in the op but in fairness to Toni, Rafa himself did not realize how bad things were, hence his playing in DC and flying to Canada.

If I were in the Rafa camp, if his foot condition is the same as a Dr. mentioned and discussed in a video (the foot condition, he isn't Rafa's Dr.) I would only play on clay and grass if he wants to. It's something that will never heal, but can only be managed and there is pain involved. Hardcourt tournaments could put his clay season in jeopardy. Grass is soft too - as long as his knees are OK.

Uncle Toni correctly predicted that Djoko would be denied a calendar-year Grand Slam in 2021.

Rafa has his own doctors who have known since the end of 2005 that he has a congenital left foot problem (it started to bother him in 2005).

I think he may return by then, heard he isn't participating in a golf event since he will return to tennis practice in 7-8 days time which means he can return at Melbourne which is still almost 4 months away. A fit Rafa at AO will really be what I wish for.

“Things are going better. He proposed to start in Australia. It will be fine. I am convinced. The idea is to have a great year 2022. He will put all his efforts,” he said.

No. Nadal.will.make a mistake playing australia. He should focus solely on clay. He now has the best ever chance to win the Slam Race. All eggs should be in the RG basket now.

If fit he obviously should come back but I feel he should rest until closer to Clay season for one last RG push. I’m not saying he can’t win AO but it’s extremely unlikely

Based on USO/Tokyo he will just need to beef up his serve. Djokovic looks helpless on the return these days.
Djokovic looks helpless against Med serve not someone like Nadal.
Though Nadal has suffered from not improving his serve. Fed did it and Djokovic too. When you start to lose the movement and pace you need to strengthen the parts of your game that isn’t affected by age

So, you think he won't be back on tour for the AO?
