When you have the legs to switch your game plan to "send everything back and wait for a putaway/error", it's easy to be "mentally strong."

Nadal hasn't had the legs to execute that plan on fast surfaces for a looooong time.

It's kind of a stock phrase in Spanish tennis journalism since the tournament was called Masters Cup.

Masters Cup, and by extension WTF, is usually rendered as "Copa de Maestros"

And the Masters Cup Champion is sometimes referred to as "Maestro de Maestros", which is what Toni said in the original interview:

Overall ranking or just based on Slams? To me, overall Federer is still #1 of the 3 right now. The 100 weeks gap at #1 is too large, then Federer having more titles at 3/4 Slams compared to Nadal, etc.
