Hmm. Toni has never got any money from Rafa.he is just p!ssed at missing the english cash, nothing to do with losing the exhibition level title........
These expressions have been used in the Spanish media since the ATP Finals was called the Masters Cup (between 1999 - 2009)Such an odd thing to say.
They really believe that ATP Finals is masters of masters when not even all masters winners from the years qualify?
Toni surely doesn't need to give these quotes to the media. Can't these guys just rest?

Toni is definitely a YEC fan, from way back.Clearly, Toni does not try to dismiss the WTF as a "meaningless exho" thus showing how a mature Nadal fan treats Rafa's chronic failure to win this most important of ATP tennis tournaments.
@MainadI hope all Nadal fans realize now that this is the 5th most important title and Nadal didn't manage to win it in the last 15 years.
Hmm. Toni has never got any money from Rafa.
"Rafa: My Story", 2010:
¤¤ Toni has never received any money from me or from anyone in the family for the lifelong attention he's dedicated to me, but he's been able to do it because he owns half of my father's business, and takes half the profits, without doing any of the work. It's been a fair exchange because I would never have had anything like the same hours of coaching from Toni if my father had not worked with such purpose all his life. ¤¤
Nadal devotee, I see a contradiction here:
"takes half the profits, without doing any of the work. It's been a fair exchange"
this means that Toni receives money form a business where he doesn't work in order to take care for Rafa.
and as far as I know, father is part of the family, so this part of the statement sounds to me like a lie "Toni has never received any money from me or from anyone in the family for the lifelong attention he's dedicated to me"
Either Toni invested in his brother's business or they both inherited an equal share which is why he is part owner and therefore entitled to share the profits. It was no doubt agreed that his brother would manage the business whilst Toni coached Rafa. That's what Rafa means when he said it was a fair exchange.
The implication is that Toni would be entitled to his half, whether he took care of Rafa or not, but would be expected to have a more active role in the managing of the family business (not just sit back and let the money roll in)the way how it is framed, sounds like "a fair exchange", Rafa's father takes care of the business, Toni takes care of Rafa, or in other words Toni gets paid by the family to take care of Rafa.

In the end, rather than money, it's Toni and Miguel trading each other's time and dedication, for each of them to do what's he best at.
I replied to the words "he is just p!ssed at missing the english cash" that "Toni has never got any money from Rafa."
you can try and "package" it this way, but if Toni and Miguel are getting same money from the company, while Miguel works there and Toni takes care of Rafa, it means that he is being paid for taken care of Rafa.

If he didn't take care of Rafa, would he still get the money? I think that's the crucial question.you can try and "package" it this way, but if Toni and Miguel are getting same money from the company, while Miguel works there and Toni takes care of Rafa, it means that he is being paid for taken care of Rafa.

If the answer is 'yes', then I wouldn't say he's being paid.
It's the difference between a gentleman's agreement and an employment contract.

Do you have a link for this? Great post btw.Toni is definitely a YEC fan, from way back.
From a blog post by Toni I linked to before (quick and dirty translation):
From Nastase to my last match with Rafael
The YEC is still the same tournament that made me fall in love with tennis as a child, and also the last one I attended as my nephew's coach
My earliest memory of this magnificent year-end tournament, which has the unbeatable selling point of gathering the eight best men's singles players, is from December 2, 1972. That day, me and my father saw on TV the finals of what was then called The Masters Grand Prix, which pitted Ilie Nastase against Stan Smith in Barcelona's Palau Blaugrana.
I was only 12 years old, but that one match struck me so powerfully that not only did it make me an inmense fan of the Romanian champion (who won that one time), but also ignited in me a passion for tennis that has remained ever since. Thus, it could be said that this tournament was the start of my tennis journey, something I definitely couldn't foresee at the time. It was but a few months later that I started playing in the new Club de Tenis of my town, Manacor - the same place where years later I would first teach tennis to my 3-old nephew.
[...]
This week, yet again, I'll be enjoying the ATP finals from home, and I'm confident we'll see top level, high intensity matches between the world's best. And yet again, even though Rafael has never managed to rise this Masters Cup in victory before, I keep the faith that this year will be the one it finally happens, and so bookend my romance with this very special tournament.

Two words. Birth control.where are the kids then?
Plenty of timeBiological clock.
Tick tack.
So serving for the match and being broken at love by a mediocre returner who has never defeated you isn't choking?Neither the Med or the Thiem matches were particularly bad chokes.
Not sure if you’re serious or trolling. Nadal is still a top 5 threat at any HC slam he plays.Rafa and his whole entourage in denial about his choking.
Having his YES men tapping him on the back when he can't hold his nerves isn't going to do Rafa much good.
He will win RG for the next few years, but unless someone like Tsitsipas takes out for him Novak and the rest of nextgen, he's definitely finished winning slams on hard as his nerves won't allow him.
So serving for the match and being broken at love by a mediocre returner who has never defeated you isn't choking?
Yes, Xisca.For Xisca?
Sure, go tell her
Yes, Xisca.
And why would I tell her?...
Nadal sleeping on the yacht instead of taking care of bizTwo words. Birth control.
Incorrect.1A. Nadal - 20
2. Federer - 20
3. Djokovic - 17
1a. Federer - 201. Nadal - 20
1. Federer - 20
3. Djokovic - 17
Valid points.Overall ranking or just based on Slams? To me, overall Federer is still #1 of the 3 right now. The 100 weeks gap at #1 is too large, then Federer having more titles at 3/4 Slams compared to Nadal, etc.
First of all, how dare youWorst poster on this site. No one else comes close. The cranberry sauce of TTW.
Three words. He does both.Nadal sleeping on the yacht instead of taking care of biz
Man, everything you just said is common sense.because she can tell you how for a woman the biological clock makes tick tack.
a man can make a kid at pretty much any age, and there is little to no difference whether that is first kid or not.
in case of women it's a bit different.
and there is a difference between being pregnant with first kid or not the first kid after 40 for example.
age plays a role in the probability of having healthy kid, or a kid with some serious health issue.
now, if a women is pregnant for the first time, and makes a test which says that there is a serious health issue, abortion after certain age is almost not an option, even if the parents would decide otherwise.
there are many nuances to the topic.
which can be resumed to two words: tick tack.
P.S.
with age, getting pregnant is not so easy.
so, if they for example decide today that they want a kid, it might easily take 12 months till she gets pregnant.
and this time interval doesn't decrease with age, especially in combination with certain "birth control" mechanisms
tick tack
Sure, but it's in SpanishDo you have a link for this? Great post btw.

Toni is a great writer. It's kind of a stock phrase in Spanish tennis journalism since the tournament was called Masters Cup.
Masters Cup, and by extension WTF, is usually rendered as "Copa de Maestros"
And the Masters Cup Champion is sometimes referred to as "Maestro de Maestros", which is what Toni said in the original interview:
Por, ojalá, un horizonte apasionante
El panorama que se nos dibuja a los amantes del tenis es emocionante, o lo sería si pudiéramos ver, por fin, cómo la humanidad doblega definitivamente esta maldita pandemiaelpais.com
There are a bunch of Toni blog posts stretching back to 2017 (in Spanish) in El Pais, although you'll hit a paywall pretty fast if you intend to read them all:

its time for everyone to realize that nadal will never win this event....meaning he can never be the GOAT. this is not just some exhibition or a random atp event in a long calender season....no it is essentially the playoffs exclusive to the best 8 players on tour that earned it. The Finals.
all of the ATGs have won this event except him and that's embarrassing.
nadal is disqualified from GOAT discussion without this trophy.
Not sure if you’re serious or trolling. Nadal is still a top 5 threat at any HC slam he plays.
He had a solid WTF. Just lost to a red-hot player.
