Too good, Novak.

Just wanted to say congratulations to Novak Djokovic and his fans on a well-deserved victory!

As a Federer fan, I really wanted so badly for Roger to win. And really, Roger played well. Novak was just so much better when it mattered, especially on the return of serve and any time the rally went over 3-4 shots, Djokovic took the decisive edge. I've never seen a player retrieve shots like him and still get so much depth and pace on the ball. Forced Federer to take more risks and really execute his shots perfectly.

Federer fans, we have nothing to be disappointed about. Novak was just too good. I'm absolutely convinced Roger will win at least one more major and I could not be more proud of his performance today. Days like today, I'm proud to say I'm a Federer fan.

Back to Novak's fans, enjoy the victory, guys! [emoji4]

This post encapsulates what a lot of Fed fans, including myself are thinking, Novak was phenomenal and he's the gold standard for returns. Serve is good, overall very solid game. Novak is compiling a hell of a tennis resume.

both players could have been 2 sets to 0 up, first two sets were very close. But it was more important for Fed to win both. Or if he lost one then he needed to win the first.

He played a bad tiebreak and then a bad game from 40-15 up in the third but Djokovic played some great points. That's all he did wrong really. overall it's just great to see Fed playing good tennis even if he can't keep it up as long as some years back.

A classy post. Fred did real well today particularly on long rallies with his movement and shots on the run. Im a Fed hater and I always want to see him lose but I appreciate what he's doing. His passing shots were sharp too and his serve was solid. He couldnt pull the wild card s&v too much against such a good returner but maybe he should have tried to end points faster. Trying to out rally a younger fitter player with probably the most consistent strokes on tour isnt the best strategy .

Thanks!

Yeah, he was solid on serve and really made Novak feel uncomfortable coming forward. He really did try to end points quickly, though. But if it's not a perfect shot, Novak's going to put it back. He forced Federer to incur a lot of risk and Roger wasn't always on the positive end of it. Says more about Djokovic's retrieving ability than anything else.

I'm not that disappointed, I'm just glad Fed is still out there playing at that level. Best player won today, congrats to Novak. The pressure he kept putting on Fed's serve paid off in the 3rd and 4th. It's unreal how he can hit returns on a full stretch and consistently put the ball within 6 inches of the baseline. No offense to Agassi, but Novak is the best returner of all time.

Yeah, I agree. To be honest, I was really shocked Roger got the second. I thought it was a huge boon for Novak to get the first and I expected him to win the next two right away. I'm so glad it was a good fight.

That game sealed the third but I think Novak would've broken later that set if he didn't in that game. He was making great in-roads into Federer's service games by that point.

Makes me happy to see Roger playing well again too. It was great to see him play in another Grand Slam final and I'm sure he'll be back to the winner's circle soon enough.

It's insane, right? Like when returns come back like that it just messes with your head when serving. All of sudden you can't serve in certain areas of the box or let your serve drop below a certain speed. It's an entirely different kind of pressure and it's very unsettling.
