Crushing loss to be sure. Couple of unlucky net cords as well as Federer blasting winners. I would say 2012 AO was even worse because of his bad miss on the backhand.

Well said!
Talking about net cords and the AO, how many balls were on Thiem's side in his match against Nadal, which for me was the best match of the 2020 season so far?

Very true. I remember Rafa getting frustrated about the cords, but was relatively calm about it. Agree it was a great match, with Theim showcasing his ball-bashing skills, and Nadal lasting in the baseline rallies throughout. Example of how some 4 set matches can be far superior in quality to 5 set matches, like the 2020 AO Final.

Theim and Zverev was a nice one too.

Also, here are the winners/unforced errors statistics:
Winners Nadal 49, Thiem 65
Unforced errors Nadal 33, Thiem 49

Pretty crazy stuff.

With that level displayed against Nadal, he would have also won against Djokovic!
:D

The Thiemal QF was definitely a better match than the Thiemovic final.

I'd say this is a decent list apart from 2014 Wimbledon Federer. I feel like 2017 Nadal was better than him, but I haven't seen the match in a while. I'll make sure to add it to the Honorable Mention list.

In terms of level of play it's probably Fraud AO09. Maybe AO12dal comes close.
Fraud was hitting unbelievably well but was very unclutch.
After 40-15 this is the match that hurts the moast.
Maybe even moar than 40-15.

Despite the match's not going 5 sets, I think 2012 RG Djokovic deserves mention. Claydal is the toughest opponent possible, and for Novak to have won 8 games in a row at one point during the match suggests he was performing at an outstanding level.

Level of play in the final, heavy subjective because I think it's impossible to judge the level of the player with just one match, I would say this:
2012 US Open Nadal (5-7 6-4 6-2 6-7 7-5 vs Djokovic)
2008 Wimbledon Federer (6-4 6-4 6-7 6-7 9-7 vs Nadal)
2009 Australian Open Federer (6-4 6-4 6-7 6-7 9-7 vs Nadal)
2014 Wimbledon Federer (6-7 6-4 7-6 5-7 6-4 vs Djokovic)
2007 Wimbledon Nadal (7-6 4-6 7-6 2-6 6-2 vs Federer)
2009 Wimbledon Roddick (5-7 7-6 7-6 3-6 16-14 vs Federer)
2012 US Open Djokovic (7-6 7-5 2-6 3-6 6-2 vs Murray)
2009 US Open Federer (3-6 7-6 4-6 7-6 6-2 vs Del Potro)
2015 Wimbledon Federer (7-6 6-7 6-4 6-3 vs Djokovic)
2019 Wimbledon Federer (7-6 1-6 7-6 4-6 13-12 vs Djokovic)

2007-2016(More 2008-2015) level was very high, I think 2017-2020 and 2000-2006 are very hard to consider. But I haven't a clear cut candidate for #10(2011 WIM Rafa, 2013 USO Nole could be some possibility), so I would award 2019 Wimbledon Final, more for epicness than level of play btw. 2017 AO Nadal could be an option too.
If 2013 RG SF was a finals we wouldn't have had this problem(I would rank that Nole in top 4).

Kind of the opposite of his SF where he won in straights but played kinda sloppy.
