Top 16 College Teams

We still about 2 months away from the team season starting but who are going to be the top 16 teams this year? It looks like the big titles are going to be a battle between Tennessee and Virginia but they always find a way to trip up at the end so who knows. The top 16 teams at the moment:

Texas Tech
Illinois

Who looks good at the moment? Any teams going to be pushing into the top 16 this year?

I'm an Illinois fan and to tell you the truth, their place in the top 16 is precarious. Michigan is making a big push and getting the recruits. Illinois has Nevolo, Souza and Singh as their top three. They have 3 five-stars coming in but they probably won't be making any immediate impact. Heach coach Dancer is good at making his players compete above and beyond so who knows.

They'll be lucky to make it to the Sweet 16. If they do they have to run the gauntlet against top seeds. Best case is they make the final 8 but won't have the depth to make it beyond there.

With home court advantage and a lot of returning players, I would pick Stanford to make the final 8. They should be anything from a slight underdog to a not so slight underdog in their quarterfinal match, depending on who they draw. They probably need to pull an upset or have an upset clear their path to make a semifinal.

In the same situation last spring, with the home court advantage and Texas being upset by Oklahoma, Georgia was a surprise semifinalist.

I think the surprise team might be Texas A&M with Junior Ore coming in January.
