I was a firm believer that tennis today comprises of faster taller and stronger athletes and every gen is better than last.
I first looked at second serve points won, and I was shocked to see almost nobody after Djokodal Generation in top 20.
Here's list of 2nd serve points won
Top 20 Career Second serve return points won
But I thought to my self maybe 2nd serve has evolved . But the faster, stronger ,taller generation must be returning 1st serves better:
But I was shocked to see again the evolved generation had lesser representatives than even Weak Federer Generation, and Nadal generation was being represented by the usual suspects.
Top 20 Career First serve return pts won
Now I began to doubt myself whether tennis has evolved or not. But then I thought,if not in return then for services definitely evolution must have taken place as today's athletes are faster stronger and taller
But apart from botnic nobody was there to save the face of the evolved generation :
Top 20 First serve points won
Then my last hope for the evolved and better athletes was the second serve points won :
But only 5 players out of top 20, were from the evolved Generation!!!! I was told every athelete today is better so I was left Wondering why only five from today made the cut!
Second serve return points won
So the evolved generation can't return as well as past nor serve as well as the past. Even Djokodal gen only have the trio representing them mostly.
What does it tell us? What does it tell us? What does it tell us? What does it tell us?
P.S: I intend no stand here, I don't think you can quantify return or serving ability that much.
This is more a trolling response to those who can't even digest something positive being said about Roddick or the past players("Broke serve speed record in one year thread") and have to post a derogatory thread right after.
