Looking at the age brackets:

20 & under: 0-15 (0%)
21-24: 4-34 (11%)
25-28: 10-64 (14%)
29-32: 15-37 (29%)
33 & over: 12-9 (57%)

Basically most 1HBH players are the old-timers. Nobody in the 20 and under with a one-hander; youngest players with the single hander are Thiem and Cecchinato (22)

Those old timers are very good. 4 out of 8 quarterfinalists at this US Open were one-handed backhanders. Roger, Stan, Feliciano and Richard. It seems 30s are new prime years, but only when we are not talking about Djokovic. :)
Anyway, wish there are more players playing a one-handed backhand. Looks more elegant to me.

57% seems high. When the 33 & overs were 25-28 what proportion of that bracket had OHBHs? Did one-handed players age better than two-handers or was it just the case that 60% of players had one-handers?

So in ~15-20 years, the OHBH will be dead?

Yup

Sad. Ultimately, I thought that Bull would revolutionize tennis by learning to hit a forehand with his off-hand, but apparently the youngsters and coaches prefer to follow the robotic Djokovic and his technically sound but boring groundstrokes.

2HBH CAN be pretty, just like Nalbandian, Agassi, Bull, etc, but then you have players like Djokovic who the youngsters look up to and you can see where tennis is going.

The problem with the 1HBH, as the stats also confirm, is that it takes a while for the player to mature into his game and start winning consistently. Even Sampras was saying how his career slowed down for a couple of years when, as a junior, he switched from 2HBH to 1HBH. Of the current players, Stan Wawrinka is one who also took his sweet time to mature into an elite player.

Since most sports coaching is based on immediate (or, at least, quick) results it ill be difficult to convince Mr. & Mrs. Jones, who have mortgaged their house to pay for lessons, that little Jimmy will be better off hitting a 1HBH in 15 years. All they care is what he is better-off hitting NOW.

101 - 200: Six players (ATP)

114) Aleksandar Kovacevic, 24
148) Andrea Vavassori, 28
157) Tim van Rijthoven, 26
164) Riccardo Bonadio, 29
169) Jelle Sels, 27

Seven if you count #181 Steve Johnson (age 33), who has a two-hander but usually hits a one-handed slice.

Anyone know how many in top 200 of WTA ?
