Dark horse?

Although probably insulting for a player with such a career, I'd say Ferrer is the leading dark horse for me. Nishikori probably not far behind.

Nishikori is a dark horse. His coach had a miracle run and now there's some space to strike.

Delete Murray and then I agree

Well I am not using dark horse with regards to current player fame, just the chances I see them having of winning the event so anyone I think has less than 2% chance to win I put in the dark horse bracket.

nishikori can be called a dark horse though. perhaps dimitrov or almagro too.

ferrer, federer, wawrinka are 2nd favourites

a winner who isn't called nadal or djokovic would surprise me a lot

Sure, if you go by very strict definitions then I would need to move Wawrinka and Federer up to the favourites column because they are too well known. Dimitrov and Nishikori are still relative unknowns. I would be shocked if the winner isn't Nadal or Djokovic though a Wawrinka win wouldn't exactly shock me that much.

How exactly is a defending finalist and top5-player a "dark horse"?

He could reach final or semifinal. But I don't think that he can really win RG. The problem is mental. He folds against top players more often than not (esp. big occasions). He was on the verge of victory against Nadal in Madrid but then surrendered at RG. He won against Nadal in Bercy last year but then followed it up with a crushing defeat at the hands of Nadal at WTF.

Haha, I like this section. Fits the players listed quite well.

Murray? Murray is going out in 3rd or 4th round so he can go straight to London and the grass season before anyone else.

Ah, dark horse is an easy category, me thinks, anyway here it goes:

Federer
Murray
Dimitrov
Berdych
Gasquet

heck, make it top 10...

Raonic
Tomic
Gulbis
Hewitt
Ferrer

Klizan????? Dimitrov???? No way. Dimitrov especially after Saturday's pathetic performance. He is a write off to me, until proven otherwise.

Also Novak should be #1 favorite and Nadal #6 or 7.

Favorites:
1. Novak
2. Federer
3. Wawrinka
4. Ferrer
5. Healthy Nishikori
6. Nadal

Dark Horses:
1. Murray
2. Dolgo
3. Almagro

Debating if Almagro should be a favorite actually.

I agree with this - except I don't regard Fed as an actual favorite and there's anyhow a very big gap between Djokodal and any other player, Wawrinka included.

Seriously. Nadal has no chance of winning RG this year. No one has won it 5 times in a row, he was not able to do it in his prime, he is not doing it now. Also on top of that he is not able to handle Djokovic's superior game any more. Not even rain or Pascal Maria (or Federer like 2011) could rescue him any more.

There aren't 5 favorites for RG this year!! There are 2: Nadal and Djoko.

Federer
Wawrinka
Ferrer
Murray
Nishikori

Dmitrov, Ferrer, Berdych, Raonic and Nishikori will go deep.
