my top 5 players are
3. Gasquet (but I wince every time he hits a forehand)
4. Koellerer
lol yes gasquet forehand is a bit strange
Very strange, indeed!
No particular order:
Oh man I left out Safin!!
Blake (just for the forehand)
I am swedish
Swedish Players All The Way!
I like all the swedish tennis players just as much, but it was only five you could put on the so the first ones that came to my mind where the five above. SWEDISH PLAYERS ARE ABSOLUTE LEGENDS!
on the list
I've only watched tennis since the early 90's, so my list would be
Borg, Rosewall, Laver, Mecir, Wilander.
Sampras, Nadal, Djokovic, Becker, Borg.
In no order.
Safin, Henman, Ivanisevic, A. Costa, Agassi.
3. All the old americans (connors, mcenroe, agassi)
My college roommate
My doubles partner in Houston
Women I've played mixed doubles with (won't list a favorite)
Good to know you're so close to that many professionals, is your name Mike or Bob Bryan?
It didn't ask about professionals.
I don't personally know any pro players who made the top 50.
Wow. I'm not seeing Federer in anybody's list??
Don't mind me just being an ass cause it's general pro player discussion - your list was clever enough and truthful enough though haha
There are two but yeah it is very different to even this time last year where he'd be in 80% of the lists.
These players have all inspired me in some way. Plus they play awesome tennis, lol.
in no order
i only have 4...maybe fifth can be JMac, but i've never seen him play...
Obviously my tennis viewing days don't go back that far...:-?
In no particular order:
Nadal and Agassi are my top 2 of all time. I like a lot of others but nowhere near as much, so those 2 are the ones that stand out for me.
With honorable mention to the Scud, Ljubicic, Daveydenko and Stepanek.
Started playing/watching in 1990.
Ashe and Borg would be included if I were old enough.
I'm only 17, so my knowledge isn't that large, but I've always liked Agassi, Federer, and Sampras....not in any order.
All favs are from this generation because I have only been watching tennis for a little less than 4 years.
if there was a 6th it would be a tie between
murray, djokovic, verdasco, wawrinka, gonzalez, tsonga, monfils, and simon (yes simon like his attitude more than his game)
jcf (i love to watch him)
Of all time:
Of all time:
1. Roger "gods gift to tennis" Federer
2. Andre Agassi
3. Stefan Edberg
4. Mats Wilander
5. Johhny Mac/Vitas Gerulaitis
5. McEnroe, Borg, Connors, Edberg, Becker, Lendl, Wilander
Results are all that matter.
I don't know why you guys consider Gasquet so great player, he is only a tennis guy with some weaknesses and strengths...
I don't personally agree that results are all that matter. I like different things about different players. Gasquet can play amazing points although he doesn't often follow that through with a win, and I would rather watch someone who ocassionally produces gems like these
than players that win but just pound the crap out of the ball. Gasquet Gonzo at the AO was one of the best matches I have watched this year. Gasquet Federer Halle 06 match again was just amazing even though Richie lost both.
I like Nalby for the same reason. He is completely inconsistent but capable of genius. Like this match
some of his shots are just sublime.
I believe this thread asked for the top 5 favorite players, not top 5 best players. Gasquet doesn't have great results (at least for his talent) but he is a very good player with a beautiful backhand and his matches are always a joy to watch. I can think of at least a dosen players which are far great than Gasquet yet watching their matches is simply painful.
