In his Tennis Encyclopedia, historian Bud Collins cites the 1996 Quarterfinal Sampras-Corretja as the match of the 90's at the U.S. Open and easily among the five best of the open area at the tournament. Agreeing with him, my other four open era matches of the U.S. Open are:
