Top 5 on clay?

I don't remember any thread about this after RG. There was a dispute before RG about whether Djok or Fed was No.2, but then Fed won and became No.1 on clay.

So who's are the Top 5 on clay?
The points on clay in 2009 are the following:

1. Federer - 3450
2. Nadal - 3280
3. Djokovic - 1900
4. Soderling - 1710 (incl. Bastad 250)
5. DelPo - 1340
6. Robredo - 1355 (from South America)
7. Murray - 910
(But as we all know, points mean nothing.)

Your picks then?

1. Federer
2. Soderling (i have to give him the 2nd place,he totally chrushed Nadal in Paris, and now that he has got his head together,he will be dangerous everywhere for everyone except Fed)
3. Nadal
4. Djokovic
5. Del Potro

1. Federer - 3450
2. Nadal - 3280
3. Djokovic - 1900
4. Soderling - 1710
5. DelPo - 1340

sounds about right...

Over the course of their career
1. Nadal
2. Federer
3. Djokovic
4. Del Potro
5. Monfils

2009 Season
1. Federer
2. Soderling
3. Nadal
4. Del Potro
5. Monfils

Roddick was the only one good enough to take a set off Federer in Madrid, and he would have won RG if the French didn't conspire with Monfils to steal his light.
So #2 is a good position.

I would, because Monfils played great when he did show up, whereas Djokovic managed to underachieve through the entire season, with an added choke to Nadal.

Sorry but did you see Nadals winners on MP down.... did you also see Djokovic' winner on MP down? Of course Nadal only wins by his opponent choking, and Djokovic only looses when he chokes

1)Nadal
2)Federer
3)Djokovic
4)Del Potro
5)Monfils

Yeah, you're right. 1355 points for Robredo.

It's 1445 points for Robredo, if you count non-countable tournaments (as they are not-countable for his overall ranking, but would be in a "best of 18" clay ranking, no?)

Roland Garros Quarterfinal 360
Madrid R16 90
Rome R16 90
Monte Carlo R16 45
Barcelona Quarterfinal 90
Acapulco Quarterfinal 90
Buenos Aires Winner 250
Costa Do Sauipe Winner 250
Bastad Semifinal 90
Vina del Mar Semifinal 90

1445

Fernando Gonzalez has 1520 clay points, by the way.

Roland Garros Semifinal 720
Rome Semifinal 360
Barcelona Semifinal 180
Viña del Mar Winner 250

1510

That would make the top 5 list, in terms of points

1. Federer
2. Nadal
3. Djokovic
4. Soderling (he has 1720, actually... I think you forgot to add Monte Carlo points = 10)
5. Gonzalez
6. Robredo

Gonzalez should be 5th in that list. He won 1510 points this year on clay (skipping Madrid and not playing MC). He did 720 on RG, 360 at Rome, 180 playing Barcelona and 250 winning Viña del Mar

i dont think you remember but federer didnt beat nadal to win the french. and even though soderling beat nadal. nadal is still better

1.) nadal
2.) federer
3.) soderling
4.) delpotro
5.) gonzalez

Anyone who's saying Nadal isn't the top clayer is lying to himself. Yes, even the greatest suffer losses from time to time. That's not to say Nadal is inferior to Soderling on clay - remember their Rome match?

Federer had the best results on clay this year, but I don't think he's the best clay courter, just like I don't think Nadal was the best grass player last year.

It is what it has been for years now: Nadal is the best clayer in the world, and Federer is second. Anyone who argued Djokovic is the 2nd best clay courter is now eating his words.

1. Nadal
2. Nadal with light injury
3. Nadal with light injury n a little bit tired
4. Federer
5. Djokovic

In this surface, there's no discussion :)

I wouldn't put Murray over Gonzo if he lost with a bagel in their match. Also, gonzo made more points in the CC season

Gonzo is definitely better than Murray on clay this year.

The fact they actually played each other at the FO just proves that, and the ranking points back it up, also.

Updated at last. I think everyone else has less than 1000.

No, that's just the thread about who's No.1 on clay.

So who's Top 5 then? Djoko, DelPo, Gonzalez?

Thanks. Completely forgot about Gonzo at first.

In the overall list I'd put Nalbandian and Gonzo in there too.

So, do we count this year or not? Why is Soderling suddenly No.4 and Fed still No.2? And based on early clay season Djokovic is not that much worse than Fed and Nadal?

Wow! Federer is the top claycourter of the season. So Federer has been the best clay court player of the world at least one year in his career, something that Petros would only dream about.
