Why fast grass / slow grass? And no wood era / graphite era ; Nat gut / poly. These change play more than seed type and artificially grown grass. Comparing era's is really silly. Even the misc variance would effect players, for example Nadal in 70s, his bulk would be problematic most points played in 20s no towl down no MTO, no knee reconstructions. Djokovic in 70s, no family on tour, no physio, generally no coach on tour. Federer in 80s, he'd be a S&V and chip and charge, could he really handle the coke?

No wilander on clay yet..
Worthy of honorable mention. The whole 90's Clay thing is quite shady. Basically all the best players were Australian and American who really had no business on clay. This allowed some weaker Euros to mop up a bit. I'd put Wilander ahead of all save Kuerten with ease. LOL someone gave Sampras honorable mention over Federer and Djokovic who are easily as good as Lendl and Wilander. Go 80's Clay; Noah was bad to the bone for a year or so.

I don't think either Federer or Djokovic belong. Wilander should be there instead, and imo courier and brugera are ahead of Djokovic and Federer, maybe even muster.

Slow grass - Sampras ahead of Federer? Why? A Wimbledon semi, a quarter, a fourth round aren't better than 3 Wimbledon runner-ups

its debatable in terms of clay accomplishments over a career. But for peak level? I think he's up there, only obviously below Nadal and Borg.

I think it's quite useless unless you mention the tournament and year where the peak level was achieved. If there are multiple tournaments where the player achieved it, lets mention Here's I'm trying one
Clay:
1) Nadal, 2008 French Open and clay season: Absolutely the best. Nobody could even forward a challenge..he was so good, particularly at the French.
2) Thomas Muster, 1995 French Open and clay season
3) Rafael Nadal: 2005-2007 French Open and clay season. Won 81 straight clay matches
4) Ivan Lendl: 1986-87 French Open
5) Bjorn Borg 1978-81 French Open

Grass (no such crap like slow grass/fast grass)
1) Sampras 1994, 1998, 1999 Wimbledon
2) Federer 2005-2006 Wimbledon
3) John Mcenroe 1984 wimbledon
4) Becker 1989, 1986 wimbledon
5) Nadal 2008 wimbledon

Hardcourt
1) Novak Djokovic(2011 AO)
2) Roger Federer (2007 AO, 2004 USO)
3) Andre Agassi (1995 AO)
4) Pete Sampras (1995 USO)
5) Rafael Nadal (2009 AO, 2010, 2013 USO)

Indoor Hard court
1) Roger Federer 2011 Indoor Season
2) Novak Djokovic 2013, 2015 Indoor season
3) Boris Becker 1992, 1995 WTF
4) Pete Sampras 1995 WTF
5) Andy Murray 2016 WTF

Good list, except I'm baffled on how you rate Fed in top 5 on clay!? Ahead of Vilas, Muster, Brugera, Wilander, Nastase?

Accomplishments he's top 10 but going off peak level he's definitely top 5.

How many players could beat 06 or 11erer on clay except peak Nadal? Not many I'd bet.

At clay masters, possible, but not at RG, which I give the most weight to.

Agree. Got to love the djokovic fans here. There's absolutely no way Djokovic at his best is a better clay player than peak Federer. It's beyond preposterous.

Borg belongs well above Nadal on clay, peak to peak. Nadal's relative greatness has to do with longevity. He NEVER dominated RG the way Borg did at his peak, nor even close.

Mr Feeny

Hall of Fame
It really isn't. Faster surfaces it's not debatable, but Djoker is up there among the very best on slower ones.

On slow hard courts I'd agree. I just don't agree that he's close to being as good as peak Federer was, on clay. But no problem if we disagree here. Djokovic is no scrub on clay.
