For those of you who don't know Top Spin 2 & Virtua Tennis 3 are the two best Tennis Video Games Today's Technology offers to us . They both are almost as good as Tennis Simulations can get .

Guys I know You guys may not find this comparasion interesting unless you own either of the two consoles (X360/PS3) but I have played them both ( I own TopSpin & TopSpin2 & Love them - I played a demo of Virtua Tennis 3 on PS3 - VT3 has Nadal , TS2 lacks him ) & I felt they both are remarkeably *REAL-LIFE* . Specially, FEDERER (A.I) in TopSpin2 is 99% how FED does things around court - even the risk shots are timed to perfection .

TopSpin2 is also available on PC but just ain't the same as on an X360. VT3 will also be available on X360.

I'm sure You guys will love how the players move & look & feel on the Virtual courts - now only if they throw Sampras in , we can have our own FED vs Sampras match . LOL. :D

No need for extra cable, your TV just needs to support 1080p.

I will definitely say Virtua Tennis 3, thinking of getting it right on launch day.

Just sec VT3 is only for the 360? Damn, I just wanted Rafa and Monfils. VT3 is more arcade-y than TS2. What I'm most looking forward to though is Halo 3:) Gears of War can tide me over till then(Along with Half Life)

yah, does VT3 seem too fake to you guys? I dunno, I like the real sponsors and look to the game for Topspin 2, but I like the players in VT3.

VT3 looks so fake! The shots, not the players btw. The Garnier/Kia Motors ads at the Fed-Roddick match in Topspin 2 Trailer made it for me :D

No. VT3 will be on X360, PS3, PSP and PC!
Only on the X360 (not sure about PSP) will a BATTLE ROYALE be available (Online battle).

I've only played Top Spin 2 and it's pretty awesome...especially when you're playing against a human, and not the computer. Unlike Top Spin, in TS2, you actually hit some shots out, meaning you can't go for that killer topspin angled shot every time and you have to take a bit out of the shot. The risk shot is pretty much phased out though...it's way too hard now.

And if people are saying VT3 is too arcadey...I'm probably not even going to bother playing it.

I'm just wondering when tennis games will take into account that TOPSPIN shots are actually SAFER than flat shots though...

I haven't played Virtua Tennis yet but I voted for it anyhow, Topspin 2 gameplay sucks. You have to to hit like 5 f*ucking buttons just to pull off a drop shot. Topspin 1 gameplay was so much better!!

Yeah, I also didn't like the gameplay of Top Spin 2 and I remember the days of playing Virtua Tennis back on the Dreamcast, great times. This is going to be better than Top Spin 2, don't be fooled by the fakeness ;).. Lol, it's going to be a great game, especially with the online and the VT.TV.

Even with the arcade style, you may think this would be realer than TS2 and the players are going to be awesome.

**Why in the poll VT3 says PS3? It's going to be way better on the 360 because of the online feature. PS3 will not have online.

I'm still not sure if I like the Virtua Tennis 3 demo on the 360. I've played it a few times, and
1) Players seem to dive around too much
2) Its harder to hold onto your serve than break
3) Computer opponents keep hitting drop shots, and I have no idea how to do them
4) Volleys are pretty hard to put away

Has anyone else played the demo much? Apart from the 1st point there, I expect all my negatives towards the game so far are caused by the lack of familiarity I have with the game.

I'm still undecided.

I also felt the same when playing the demo. Had myself as Nadal dive to make five consecutive shots while williams was able to chase down every volley I hit.

I have Top Spin 2, and I played the demo for Virtual Tennis 3. I do not like Virtual Tennis at all, completely bizarre gameplay. The only good thing is that you actually have to time a shot perfectly to hit the ball well otherwise you dive every single time!

To the people talking about 1080p, if you have those newer Sony TVs (Bravia I think?), you can't get 1080p without HDMI which the 360 doesn't use.

that's what i thought as well.....but i got the game today and man, it's alot different from the demo. the players do dive but not everytime like in the demo. i love the game. i also have topspin 2 but i have to say vt3 is a much deeper and a better game overall.

I've seen a bit of contradictory info in the thread...so, to clear one question up:

Are both VT3 and TopSpin2 available (or going to be available) on PC, or only TopSpin2?

Got the game today. I must say that its very arcade-like (its an arcade game, and so with the past virtua tennis games) compared to Topspin 2 and has a very limited shot selection (topspin, slice, lob). TS2 has smooth movement compared to VT3, one wrong move in VT3 then point over. Also, the lag on the ball (the ball stops in mid-air) when you play xbox live is ridiculous on VT3, have you guys noticed this? I kept hitting corner shots after corner shots and my opponent get its back no problem. Overall, its a complete change from TS2 and I'm happy with my 45 dollar purchase.

ps. For the people whos having trouble because their diving alot. dont hold the shot button while moving to the ball (if you have enough time) it'll cause it to dive everytime.

yep...played 2 games on live and it happened both times....i know it's not my connection because my connection is fine for all my other games. i really enjoy career mode even though it's not as deep or detailed as ts2. :-D

Game play is better on Top Spin

I has a chance to play VT3 and thought the graphics were awesome, but the way the players move and the games play was not as realistic and fun as Top Spin. Does anyone know if Top Spin 2 will be available for PS3?;)

I have topspin2 and recently downloaded VT3 just to see how it plays. Well its pure cr4p. The gameplay is not tennis from the point of view of players. I will not be purchasing VT3.

fyi, the demo is totally different from the full game....they just dive way too much in the demo. ;)

I have VT3 on the PSP. A totaly different game from the PS3 version.
I forgot to take a rest and broke my wrist. I lost 3 level all around and 4 months of play.

I bought Virtua Tennis 3 in the end... and its way better than Top Spin. I never played Top Spin 2 properly, so I can't really comment.

I spent about 9 hours playing it on the day I got it (I had the day off work), and online is fun. There are only three annoying things about it.

1) Lag online can sometimes be a little annoying
2) People playing as the unlockable character 'Duke' who is ridiculously good
3) I'm not very good.

Has anyone experimented with the online tournament modes yet? Might be fun to have TTW Virtua Tennis Tourney at some point. Maybe when I'm good though ;)

The gameplay in VT3 isn't the greatest. You can barely serve aces, and you dive more than the italian football team (OOOOO. YEAH I WENT THERE)

I have both Topsin 2 and Virtua tennis 3 and i will have to say VT3 is the better game. Much better player animations and better graphics are reasons for my decision. I also own the original Topsin and Virtua Tennis 1 and 2 for the old Dreamcast.

The players on VT3 are more current and popular than TS2, but it's much easier to play. The diving in VT3 is completely ********. I could go on and on about the pros and cons of each but I'll save that for another time. I've only played TS2 a bit, and I own VT3, and if I recall correctly, VT3 is more arcade while TS2 is more simulation. It's not too extreme arcade and there is realistic features to it.

Yeah I just finished downloading the VT3 demo on my 360. I own Topspin 2, and it is like everybody else said, Topspin is more realistic while VT3 is more arcadey.

By the way is the whole VT3 career as easy as it is in the demo? Because just smacking it back towards the middle will win you the point everytime in the demo. The comp just goes running side to side lol.
