Top Spin 4 vs Virtua Tennis 4

For anyone who has played, seen, experienced any of this game, can you give your assessment on which one you think is better of the two?

I'll be playing this on the PS3, and I don't care much for "motion sensing" controllers so Move vs Kinect argument is void in my case and I only have a PS3.

As an insight, I prefer NBA 2K over Live, but I also enjoy NBA Jam in its own right. I played Virtua Tennis on the PSP and enjoyed it a lot, specially the Career Mode. I've read Top Spin also has a Career Mode but I'm unsure if it goes to the same depth as Virtua Tennis, with the skills levelling and mini games.

Top Spin = NBA 2K

Virtua Tennis = NBA Jam

If you want to play a realistic tennis sim, then go with TS4. If you just want a casual arcade-style experience, then go with VT4. I've played every single game in both series, except for VT4, as it's not out yet in the States, but I have played the demo for it.

If you're looking for an in-depth career mode, you're out of luck. ALL tennis games are the same here. You train, play practice matches, play tournaments, repeat. VT4 has a revamped career mode where you use movement tickets to travel around the globe on a linear path, but it's a little gimmicky. Stick to playing real people online. It's MUCH more fun.

In the end, it breaks down to what you want to play. A simulator or an arcade game.

For me, I enjoy both series. But as an avid tennis fan and player, TS4 is the best tennis game out there. You need more skill and strategy to play compared to the VT series.

I like realistic player strokes VT4 offers although I do like the gameplay TS4 offer. I think I'd go with VT4.

I've played top spin 4 and VT3, but not 4. Top spin 4 is realistic, and once you get the hang of the controls and everything it's very rewarding. It feels like a real match. Virtua tennis games are just crazy action, and you never really get the sense that you're doing anything important. It's easy and fun though.
