Attention gamers, 2K Sports announced the upcoming release of Top Spin Tennis 3 for Spring 2008. (I wasn't sure where to post this so I posted it here. I figured moderators would move it :D ) Sorry if someone posted this already, I searched the forum and didn't see any threads. This could be old news.

I enjoy Top Spin far more than Virtua Tennis 3. I hope they don't keep pushing the release date back that gets very annoying.

Here the link for the official website:
http://www.topspin3thegame.com/

Here is the artical about the release: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/814/814873p1.html

Top Spin and Virtua Tennis were too unrealistic and arcade like honestly. Smash Court Tennis on the PSP is more true to the game, but had some technical glitches.

Topspin... I bought the 2nd one for my pc, but vista runs like a hog so it doesn't run well =[

My friends and I used to play topspin on the xbox all the time. We'd create our own characters and everything. It was awesome =D

As for TS and VT being too unrealistic... how about Mario Tennis XD

edit- geez, I have a smiley after each line :O (okay i couldn't resist)

edit2- just read the article, sounds awesome. Awwwwwesome.

Top Spin 2 was worse than TS1

2K completely dropped the ball, so to speak, with Top Spin 2 on the XBox360. Its downright bad. TS1 had a good feel to it, but after all the talk of their "physics engine" and high rez graphics, I jumped on the new 360 and TS2 when it came out. What a disappointment. It was more "arcade" like, and the responsiveness just plain sucks.

After wasting $60 on that they would have to do something really spectacular to win me back to that game.

It's a game.

Nothing will be spot-on accurate.

Top Spin 2 > VT3 in terms of realism.

VT3 > TS2 in terms of arcade feel.

This time, I hope they actually put in at least 10 more players.

Where are these games for the Wii? Wii Tennis doesn't count :-/

I heard that 2K Sports, the producer of Top Spin 2, will come out with a tennis game for Wii. =) Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Topspin is realistic. A ton more realistic than VT3
I completely agree with you on that point. VT3 you hit shots that would be winners and the player runs it down even though they're way out of position and they manage to hit a winner off the shot. Gets on my gaming nerves.

As for Wii they are planning to release TS3 for Wii. That's actually how I found out about TS3, I saw an article about them releasing it on Wii.

What does this have to do with General Pro Player Discussions....:
Does this make it more relevant to Gen Pro Player Discussion?:D

Which players do you think will be on the new version? (ATP and WTA)

ATP
Federer
Roddick
Nadal
Djokovic (I hope)
Blake
Young:neutral:
Agassi (Even though he's retired woud be cool, but I doubt it)
Haas
Davydenko (doubt it since a lot of nontennis watchers know him which is stupid)

WTA
Shreikapova
V. Williams
Jankovic (I hope)
Ivanovic
Henin
Davenport (maybe, although she hasn't played singles in a while)
Hingis (since she's on VT3)

Those were all I could think of.

Um....nope!:)

I liked TS 2 a lot, although it could have been better and it's pretty easy. VT3 would have been a lot better had it not been for the diving aspect. I do like how they got all the players' techniques down but serving didn't seem fast enough and it was just too whimsical. TS 2 had almost no ramifications for being out of position. The player would just strech and hit a perfect shot or take it right off the bounce for a clean winner. You could beat pretty much the whole game from no-man's land.

edit: Oh but mario tennis> them all

Yeah baby! Super excited for TS3. It will be awesome to say the least. The games for the 360 just keep getting better. This will be the best tennis game for a while. :)

VT3 is more realistic because you have to move for yourself. In TS2 the game does it for you.

Wait wait wait! In Virtua Tennis, just because you run by yourself, it doesn't make it harder. The game is way too easy! Balls that are normally way out of your area/reach should not be able to hit! In VT3, all that diving and super running crap is way too annoying. Like somebody said before, seeing somebody hit a winner off of a ball that was way to the other corner is ANNOYING. Period.

And it makes it frustrating to no end. Some of the tasks are next to impossible to complete. I wouldn't mind losing so much if it wasn't clear that the computer was out of position. For the most part I've stopped playing VT3for a while.

The redeeming value of Virtua Tennis 3 is that the stroke production on all the pros is spot on. From Venus' open stanced backhand to Nadal's buggy whip forehand and Roddick's serve, it's very well done. Hopefully Top Spin 3 can get this going too.

I hope so too. I also hope TS3 fixes some of the hitting the demensions. Like topspin going out or the players moving ablity. I wish they would do away with the confidence meter thing. it's stupid.

You probably missed this one

http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=147526

But since you posted it in "generals" I think more posters will see it. I'm very excited as well. Hopefully TP3 will play more like the original rather than the 2nd.

virtual tennis 3 is horrible. Firstly its impossible nearly impossible to miss. The game is also based on getting smashes... which surprisingly is one of the 3 stats they actually give you.

Plus, the diving made the game just stupid. You would hit a great approach, the computer would then dive lob which would hit the ball 1in from the baseline which I would then run back hit a crappy shot and the opponent would hit a crappy shot and we are back at neutral ground again.

Although the stroke animations were great in VT3 as well as player recreations. Much better than TS2.

VT3 would is extremely arcady and probably be more fun for people who don't play tennis.

I think both games dropped the ball on serving though. It doesn't play a big enough part in both games. Aces, service winners, weak replies off big serves doesn't happen enough.

If only tennis got the same development as Madden we'd have a killer tennis game. Till then I'll stick to Madden :D specially since its football season.

Disagree about the serving bit - Top Spin 2 makes it difficult to break a server because even though you rarely hit aces returns off serve are usually weak and allow the server to take the initiative and hit the ball more authoritatively than the returner. It's subtle but its there.

? that's how it's supposed to be. servers usually have the advantage, which is why it's easier to hold serve than it is to break serve in real life. i find that in TS2 as long as you use something other than the safe shot to return, you're fine. 90% of the time i use slice returns, usually back crosscourt into the corner where the serve came from. the slice+crosscourt gives me time to move into position, but if you keep it deep, your opponent won't be able to make an offensive shot out of it.
