just interested in comparing my list to other interested parties. I consider Laver and Rosewall to hail from prior to the open era.
I frequently alter the order of my own list although the ten I cite haven't changed in some time. They are as follows, in chronological order:
Borg v Connors
Borg v McEnroe
Connors v McEnroe
Lendl v McEnroe
Lendl v Wilander
Becker v Edberg
Agassi v Sampras
Federer v Nadal
Djokovic v Nadal
Djokovic v Federer
The central thing common to all ten rivalries is that they occur between players that during most if not all of the rivalry contested the pinnacle of the sport between them. This opposed to something like Hewitt and Nalbandian or Ashe and Connors, where sufficient animus may have existed between the competitors but the stakes were not as high. Nevertheless I could see people being inclined to cite some of the following:
Agassi v Becker
Agassi v Chang
Agassi v Courier
Agassi v Hewitt
Agassi v Federer
Ashe v Connors
Becker v Lendl
Becker v Sampras
Becker v Stich
Borg v Panatta
Borg v Vilas
Bruguera v Courier
Cash v Lendl
Chang v Lendl
Chang v Sampras
Connors v Lendl
Connors v Vilas
Courier v Sampras
Djokovic v Wawrinka
Edberg v Krickstein
Edberg v Lendl
Edberg v Mecir
Federer v Del Potro
Federer v Hewitt
Federer v Murray
Federer v Nalbandian
Federer v Roddick
Ferrero v Kuerten
Hewitt v Nalbandian
Ivanisevic v Sampras
Kafelnikov v Sampras
Korda v Sampras
Nastase v Smith
Newcombe v Smith
Rafter v Sampras
I know it has its detractors but I think Djokovic v Murray is the most worthy of replacing one of my top ten selections - meetings in 10 majors, including in 7 finals (tied for 2nd ever) including all four finals (only the second rivalry to achieve this after Djokovic and Nadal). Nevertheless it's been a little one sided to this point and I'm not sure which to toss off.
