Toroline hybrids

Just thought it would be nice to share our experience with Toroline Hybrids.

Poly/poly is quite trendy these days and Toroline works great being so slippery.

Love Wasabi Pro, but recently I've tried some other nice combinations...

Ether - Wasabi X not only looks great but also play quite well... a bit firmer than Wasabi Pro surprisingly...

K-Pop for exemple was awful for me and lacking power and any feel...

Next tests:

Super Toro - Wasabi X
Toro Toro - Snapper

What's your favorite combinations'?

For setups with Toroline, I've really enjoyed using Wasabi X as a cross. I've played with Grapplesnake Toursniper mains, Wasabi X crosses and Otoro Mains, Wasabi X crosses.
What’s your take on o-toro/wasabi x? I was just thinking of trying it

Thanks! I assume in the Carve 100. Have you tried o-toro/Sync? I personally liked it in C100. Good pocket!
The C100 has actually been taking a back seat recently. I don't know if it's the weather and a stiff shoulder but I've been finding it a bit clunky on the run. Been back to the VC98s with K-pom (above) and the aforementioned o-toro/gw in the extreme pro. Both combos are great. I have yet to try sync but i hear good things. I'll order a couple sets for science

I have been playing the Super Toro/Wasabi X hybrid for a few months and it has spectacular control characteristics with decent spin. Highly recommend!

I’ve been having so much fun with carbon Wasabi 1.23 mains and snapper 1.23 crosses. Stringbed is a bit lively vs the usual tour sniper mains I use with snapper crosses. Wasabi x snapper is just so fun and explosive for me. Notches quickly though. Plays good until breakage. I truly feel like snapper is now my go to cross string. Not as good in full bed imo. It’s been working great for me with all the mains I’ve crossed it with thus far (Hawk touch, wasabi, tour sniper, lynx tour). In that order of preference.

I've been testing Otoro/Wasabi X. I like it so far.
Same - hit with this combo for the first time yesterday and it felt crisp but a nice level of softness coming off full bed of Alu power. Will report back after more hours with this but at first blush I feel like I prefer it to Otoro full bed.

Otoro/Sync has been a plus experience in my pure drive original 50/48 (finally settled on a frame). I tried gut/sync 52/50 which I hated in this frame. Zero/sync was good but Otoro mains were just spot on. Pocketing in a pure drive @ 50 + allowing the pure drive be itself with plus spin. Good combo.

Couple different hybrids that I like so far. Lot of the Toro strings are too stiff/pingy in full bed without dampener so hybriding with softer cross has helped me.

Super Toro main/ enso pro pink cross is very good. Great spin and control

Caviar main/ enso pro pink cross is also really nice and a little more crisp

I tried Super Toro/Snapper and it had great feel and touch but was a bit erratic at times

So far my favorite hybrid is O-Toro mains and Sync crosses. Sync is similar to Enso. And I agree, with the above, Enso seems a little softer than X

Got a new combo to add to the mix. Took my two fav Toroline strings combined them and absolutely love it.

Caviar 1.24 mains
Toro toro pink cross

Crazy heavy spin, plenty of comfort and pocketing as well. Very crisp

I’ve got Toro/Enso in my Rafalito and it’s doing very well. The Enso softens the stiff-as-hell Toro mains, but the spin access is still remarkable and it has easy power. I have it at 48/46 but next time I would go up, maybe 51/49.

I like using Caviar in the mains haven’t had much time experimenting with it as there’s so many really good strings but I rate it as a good main. Your hybrid sounds interesting.

My bad I rate Caviar as a main and cross, full bed is good but I prefer using it in a hybrid but as I said haven’t had much time experimenting would love to hear about some setups that people rate with Caviar in it.

Also wasabi I have a few sets that I can use and have never known how to use it as I’ve heard different opinions and wasn’t in the mood for wasting my time.

Caviar/Toro Toro pink is my favorite yet.
Caviar/Enso pink was also very good.
Tested both of these side by side and for whatever reason, the Toro Toro cross adds some extra spin and heavy-Ness. Hitting partner noticed right away as well and said the same

May try this soon. I tried Toro Toro pink/Wasabi X and didn't really like it but I have been a fan of Enso as a cross so this sounds nice

I would encourage others not only limit their concept of hybrid stringing to poly/poly, but consider Toroline's usability with partial/non-poly strings, namely as crosses to them, where you can make some insanely snappy combos, with better touch, feel, easy pop/depth and comfort, and still get decent-enough longevity, provided you choose a durable-enough main. I think there are way more players here and elsewhere that could benefit from such setups, versus automatically presuming you need to go to poly/poly every single time in every single scenario.

Example, here's a setup I just did in a Blade 98 18x20 v6 CV — Prince Lightning Pro Black 1.30 / O-Toro 1.23. Lightning Pro's silicone impregnation gives it awesome snapback that lasts pretty much the life of the string bed when paired with something as slick as O-Toro, and the PET ribbon wraps give it pretty decent longevity as well. Admittedly, I went O-Toro Green over Wasabi-X just for the color match, but O-Toro isn't all that sharp, so it should be fine, plus a bit of edgy-ness will give some extra grip on certain diagonal stroke motions:

Coming from Hyper-G 1.20 / syn-gut, the player is loving this combo so much more. Way easier depth, better touch, much better snapback-based spin. It's all there. So give stuff like this some consideration every now and then. You never know when it might be the better option, for certain frames/players.

How about Otoro Tour-Otoro hybrid? Otoro green was a bit plasticky. Just got an Otoro Tour but a beat confused whether I should string it in full bed for my Regna 100 or just hybrid it to increase power

Otoro Tour is a really nice string but it's definitely low powered and control oriented. I tried it full bed in my Prestige Tour and it was excellent for pinpoint control but lacked the pop and spin of my normal setup (caviar main/Toro Toro cross). I'm going to try it again in the mains with enso pro crosses this week. I would say if you want to tame your racket try OT full bed. If you want more liveliness pair it with a softer cross

Have been using full bed Otoro but today going to string up an Otoro white/Enso Pink hybrid. Was going to use Sync crosses but they're out of stock

This is going to be a really nice combination that should give you great control and spin. Let us know how goes

Hi all! I've always used rpm blast at 22kg on my pure drive 2025. Today i tried a pure drive with a hybrid wasabi x and otoro spin (21.5 and 22.5kg)...totally different feeling than rpm blast, much softer but more suprisingly, i found myself swinging much freely and harder, causing heavier ball for opponent (who also noticed the difference). Really enjoyed it!! Have u ever tried it? How wasabi or otoro would feel vs otoro spin (always paired with wasabi x).

Thanks

That was my observation when it’ll start using new tech strings about 1 year + ago.

My favorite Toro Combos:

1. O Toro Tour x Enso Pro (stiffer main, softer round cross) - used in lower RA frames like extreme tour
2. Wasabi x Enso Pro - used in my APD Original and PD Original - slightly softer shaped main - medium stiff frames.

These are my preferences but Toroline has lots of room to experiment.

Any opinions on the best setup for maximum spin? Like if I don't prioritize comfort, feel, control, durability etc
The most spin I've seen from any Toroline setup came from Caviar 1.24 mains with Toro Toro Pink crosses. Just ridiculous how heavy the shots are. Incredible control and spin. Feel is reasonably good too

What color enso pro?

I don’t know if this setup is frame dependent given the string stiffness, otoro tour crossed with otoro round 46/44 in an extreme pro was darn good. Stiff string benefit without the pain or other downsides.

Hi. I tried a full bed of sniper and quite liked it but the snap back has been crappy. I have a reel
Of WasX. How was Sniper with WasX? I was also thinking of trying Otoro Tour with WasX but I need to ensure that crisp feeling in my muted Ezone 98.

Was-X is pretty muted and plasticky itself, so it's going to add a fair amount of muted feel to the string bed as a whole. So, if you're going to use it as a cross, you better make sure whatever main you're using is crisp. Very crisp. In poly land, that would most stuff that's metallic and/or lighter in color and/or edged – Sniper included. Do that, and the overall feel should be plenty crisp. Enough to make an EZone feel crisp? Mmmmm... maybe, maybe not. But the snapback level will certainly be boosted, that's for certain.

I’ve been using confidential mains and WasX crosses which has been good. Will try Sniper with WasX. How did you find Otoro Tour with WasX. Also how did you find Sniper with it?

Would love a comparison between Otoro and Sniper (or M8) here. Am loving Otoro/Was X and have considered trying Sniper or M8 as a main but if it’s really similar to Otoro I may just stop experimenting.
