Toroline Wasabi X: Compare it with Cream, Ghostwire and MSV Swift as Cross?

Has anyone tried Toroline Wasabi X? I think it is a soft and slick poly, not sure how it is compared other polys of this category such as Cream, Ghostwire and MSV Swift, which are all good as cross string.

For me I think Ghostwire is more crisp while Cream/Swift are more mushy. Not sure where Wasabi X locates?

X is not in the same category as those other Strings.
Wouldn't consider X as Soft if we're also talking about GW,Cream and Swift.
Compared to them X is also slick but medium firm.
I wouldn't use X to soften a stringbed.

Although wasabi x isn’t as soft, I do find that somehow it enhances the feel as a cross string. I really enjoyed it with zero or black knight on the mains

How is the power level of Wasabi X? I’ve used Ghost Wire in the past as a cross, but it’s to soft for my liking. To much ball pocketing too, I like it to come off string bead a little quicker.

Wasabi X is not as soft as any of those. But it is a good cross.

3rded WasX not being soft at all
Thanks so much! I will stick with my gw and swift then
Do you guys think Wasabi X is stiffer than Wasabi?

They feel mostly the same to me. I often struggle to determine if subtle differences in stiffness are caused by my inconsistencies as a stringer or if they are the string. I can't say I notice a huge different between Wasabi's but I also don't play them back to back. I prefer the darker colours (red/grey) as I feel they offer more pocketing and a more solid feel in my Whiteouts, but it's marginal for sure.

Funny, I talked to an employee at my local racquet shop and he was using this as a cross, and specifically called it an "enhancement string" and that he wouldn't use a full bed of it.

I think Toroline is the only manufacturer of those listed that has some sort of slick coating probably similar to Yonex's silicone coating

It's not silicone oil coating or impregnation, it's UHMW (ultra-high molecular weight) cross-link ester, that is part of the base formulation, so it doesn't wear off as the string ages. Toroline basically elects to use a higher percentage of that than most any other maker, often at the expenses of some crispness and feel, but at the benefit of hyper levels of slickness. Depending on what you're looking for, the trade-off can often be worth it (ie. when using Was-X as a cross with a crisp-but-slick main like gut or Triax/HDMX).

Good info, thank you. I asked them yesterday about their coating and they said (though certainly with not as much detail as you) "nope our slickness is infused into the string"

I think I'm gonna order that O-Toro Tour now as a mains for Wasabi X cross. Anyone have experience with this specific hybrid or similar (Caviar 1.24, Toro Toro 1.27)? OTT's their stiffest string.

Anyone tried WasX vs Sync as crosses to the same main? I'm curious how they compare as cross strings
Yes. Both as crosses (Was-X and Sync 1.25) in a non-poly/poly hybrid, with TF Multifeel Black 1.30 mains (in a '21 Dunlop CX 200, at 53 / 48 lbs). Was-X was more controlled per unit tension and offered slightly more vicious snapback and kicking spin (quite nasty, actually), but it cut through MFB faster. Sync pocketed a bit better as had ever-so-slightly better feel, but performance-wise wasn't as good in combination, as I think I've come to know that I prefer my crosses pretty firm when it comes to non-poly/poly hybrids, and Sync falls just a bit below that threshold, even at higher tensions, where Was-X makes the cut on firmness, but is just a little lackluster on feel (a bit more plasticky/muted than I prefer). That's why I wish Toroline could somehow come up with a Wasabi-X Silver, with a more metallic, crisp feel, but the same slickness, and I've communicated this to them on multiple occasions.

That said, I bet you're looking for feedback as crosses to other poly's, and for that, I've only tried Sync 1.20 as a cross to O-Toro Orange, in the upper 40's in a high-ish power Dunlop Srixon Revo CZ 98D, and for that frame and swing weight I had it spec'd at (mid-high 320's strung), it was a bit too powerful. I'd wager Was-X would have been a better cross there.

Hope some of that helps!

Why is Revolve not mentioned more often? What's its downside, the slick coating wears off too fast? What are good alternatives then? I have been trying Wasabi X and don't really like it, it's stiffer and I can feel it moving too much if that makes sense, especially on slower shots. I hear this squish sound that is off-putting and TK Tennis mentions these hyper slick string might be too slick.
