Toroline Wasabi

I usually play with a full bed of Toroline Caviar @ 52lb in my VCore 95s.
I’ve seen the hype about K Pro and had a half a set of wasabi lying around and gave it a go. I’m impressed with the extra bite I’m getting on my kick serve and topspin groundies. However it felt a bit muted compared to the full bed of caviar. Has anyone played the different colours of wasabi? Which is the crispest?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I can’t see anyone comparing the colours though. That’s the key question I’m after the answer to.

Or has anyone tried Ether

If you think Wasabi is too muted, I wouldnt try Ether. And I definitely wouldn't reccomend the charcoal wasabi that is in Kpro, developed to be more muted than the colorful versions for Karue, but maybe the new Pink/yellow Kpro will be different. Wasabi X feels like Ether to me.

I cant compare green or red wasabi since I didnt really like it (sorry that was the point of the thread). I just stick to caviar and super toro, but now I am playing around with Wasabi X and Enso.

I actually didn't like the full bed Caviar, since it felt too crisp/plasticky to me, especially in slightly stiff racquets. I enjoyed the full bed wasabi, tbh I didn't feel the difference between full bed Pink and Carbon. Now I'm playing with Wasabi/Super Toro hybrid, arguably better than full bed wasabi, slightly crisper than full bed, and more responsive. I'm trying Wasabi and Enso hybrid next.

I played with red and green Wasabi. I liked the green one a little better. I don't know why, maybe because I played with hyper g soft before.
Wasabi is an excellent string. The comfort I had in my vcore 100 2021 is amazing. I haven't had one with any poly string.
After 12 hours the snapback is still very good. The strings are not cut.
Spin also similar to hyper g soft.
You can stretch 10-15% more than normal.
Tension loss:
I stretch 23kg
-after 24 hours without playing, loss of about 1kg (22kg)
-after 2 hours on the court another drop of 1kg (21kg)
- the next 8-10 games on the court will reduce another 1kg (20kg)
To sum up, I lost 3 kg after 10 hours of playing, which I consider a very good result for poly strings

I also played with a Caviar string.
For me simillar for poly tour yonex with better tension hold.
Unfortunately, snapback is not like wasabi.
After 2 hours of playing on the court, the string is already cut.

This aligns with my experience. I didn't really like Caviar either. I tried Super Toro as cross hybrid with Wasabi, and it seems very good so far, adds more control but still has everything full bed wasabi provides.

You said that Wasabi main/Super Toro cross feels crisper than full bed Wasabi? Would Super Toro main/Wasabi cross be even crisper? I don't like mushy feel at all and much prefer something that is crisp and responsive.

Personally, I like crisper or stiffer cross with softer mains. And I posted this a while ago, I changed my mind about Caviar, it's actually pretty good as a cross.

I would say Caviar is probably the most crisp feel string from Toroline, Super Toro is stiffer but somehow a little muted too.

If you want a crisp and responsive blend from Toroline, try Super Toro/Caviar hybrid.

Thanks for your input. I may try Caviar main with either Super Toro or Wasabi cross then.

I can’t find anywhere on the internet that has a direct play test comparison between Luxilon 4g soft and toroline wasabi x. To me, toroline and restring are a bit sneaky in the sense that they target college players and avoid targeting pros, and then the YouTubers don’t make the direct comparison between Luxilon and the new players… tennis warehouse is definitely holding back. Why is that??

This guy at least compared Alu power… and admitted sync does not feel as good as Alu (at the golden window when Alu is still fresh…)

TW sells neither toroline nor restring, probably a good reason why they're not doing comparison videos with those brands.

One theory in favour of restring and toroline, is they are trying to cut out the dealer network to keep costs low… but I have a feeling that co poly strings are basically all the same but compromises are made between stiffness, tension maintenance, playability duration (notching/SnapBack). The one thing that is not obvious is responsiveness and feel. This is where Luxilon is still the goat.
