Toroline

Had my CX200 Tour 18x20 string with wasabi(pink) & WasabiX(blue) at 52lbs throughout. First things first, the cosmetics: wow, definitely an eye catcher giving bubblegum vibes with an almost iridescent glare on both strings. Looks incredible with the frames red/orange paint job. Performance: first few hits (1.5hrs each time) I was not a fan. Had a horrible ping metallic sound and unreliable as some shots it gave me a lot of power and others it gave nothing. However, at 4hrs play this setup played like a dream. It seems they need 3-4 hours breaking in. Very nice pocketing, good amount of power for a poly, keeps those balls In with a full swing and great snapback. Pleasantly surprised with this hybrid setup so far. Only change I will try when I restring will be to string at 50lbs to see if I can negate the break in period although lower tension does not equal loss of tension!! Based in UK, slightly cold at the moment! Would recommend!

@TW Staff love that TW is finally carrying Toroline ! I like the packaging and glad to see some variety (colors, shapes, personality) infused in tennis strings.
Is it me or is there something "fishy" about Toroline ?? Who doesn't love a good seafood buffet !! Can a Toroline sampler playtest be far behind??
Can't wait to see how these play!

They do offer an "Omakase", which basically is hand-selected string beds (hybrid, full bed), based on your playing style, characteristics, and desires.

What are the best hybrids to try based on the current toroline string available on TW? I use an ezone 100.

Since your racket is powerful but muted, I’d go for their crispest, stiffest, least powerful string in the mains, and that’s toro toro. For the cross wasabi X will give you a very good amount of spin and comfort. It’s also a controlled setup which the EZone 100 might need. I believe this hybrid is called “experimental blend?”

TW doesnt carry Toro-Toro in any capacity. Options are O-toro, wasabi green & pink, Caviar 1.20 & 1.24, or Kpop. Only one I think I would try is Otoro/Caviar 1.24 since caviar 124 is one of their stiffest (allegedly). But probably just plays better full bed.

Based on what's available on TW, best bet might be to try full bed of Caviar to start. I just strung mine up with o toro (which I like in a number of other rackets) but at 53/51 found it pretty launchy in the ez100. I might try it again at 55 and see how that goes. The ez100 is pretty muted and most torolines will only mush up the feel even more. As other poster mentioned about if you just order direct for toro line, you could do wasabi x cross with toro toro or caviar.

Hi. My goto string usually rpm blast on my pure aero team. Can anyone comment on o-toro vs rpm blast especially on pure aero line?
I am looking for a little bit control and maybe more spin.

Will appreciate, thanks.

Has anyone played O-Toro mains with Wasabi X crosses? I'm interested in trying O-Toro in my Shift Pro 18x20, but not sure if I should go full bed or round in the crosses with the X. Tension recs? I'm currently playing Hyper-G 17 at 50 lb but could probably drop to 46-48 and still be happy.
Just tried O Toro /Snapper hybrid at 42/45lbs and probably the best mix i ever had

I have a question to those who tried hyper g and o toro?

For sure i can not say if my expectations are true but iam asking because hyper g and o toro are both coming from taiwan and the stiffness is almost the same!

Possibly (not guaranteed) it comes just out of the same machine.

Otoro uses a new type of pellet for the poly. Different material and the control/tension maintenance it’s 1000x better

Tried Caviar tonight and it played well, very good spin and decent feel with good control. Trying K-Pro next I have heard it’s the best for control which is what is most important to me.

Doubt anyone has tried, but any prediction on how O-TORO x Hyper-G Round would fair compared to Hyper-G Round full-bed? For reference, I prefer HGR full-bed over HG x HGR. Not even sure what I'm looking for; just asking out of curiosity.

My prediction is that it would be similar to my OT/Sync setup, which is, excellent. Firms up the bed so you don't get the mushy feel that OT can sometimes create. More direct but less ball pocketing. Still should have good string movement but probably with this one you take a reduction in spin and power compared to full OT.

What other crosses have you tried with OT?

None since Sync left me wanting nothing more
I’ve been interested in messing around with some poly/poly hybrids so you recommend I try different mains with Sync in the crosses of all? or do you have others I should try? As im really liking what a poly/poly hybrid brings to the table but am just getting into ploy/poly hybrids so any recommendations or tips would help

IMO you just gotta try stuff to see what you like. Shaped main? Rough main? Round main? Soft cross? Stiff cross? Rough cross?

Cool ill use what I got lying around and work it out from there was told to use for crosses slick soft polys for more snap back which makes sense and round softer strings i have no problems choosing mains as I know what I like I’ll buy some sync as you’ve got access and Have tried way more strings than I probably will in a lifetime so that’s a must buy and then I’ll just test what I got lying around, I’m sure yo have some vid on it so when I get time I’ll watch one..I’m glad there’s no set rules and anything goes

Had second hit with caviar today and really getting to like it. The spin is very good and it has definitely improved my serve, topspin ground strokes are very good and slice backhands really bite. My regular opponent says he can really tell a difference in how much heavier my shots are. I’m a high tension lover and strung the full bed caviar at 62 lbs and it plays very well at that tension.

How is arm comfort for wasabi and cavier vs something like a hyper-g? Is it suppose to be more comfortable or less comfortable?

I saw on toroline’s instagram that a white version of O-Toro is coming out next month. Anyone played with this early and can share their experience?
Nice. Maybe they'll also release a gunmetal/black as well, in the same vein as Solinco with Confidential. In fact, I'd love to see shades of gray and/or earth tones on as much of their stuff as possible. Something about irridescent pink, eye-gouging yellow and/or baby blue just doesn't sit quite right in most of my frames... anyone else with me?

Need more neon! Can't have enough.

The company's goal was to add color to our lives. But seems now with the popularity we will get more whites and grays. Black O-toro still TBD but on the way. Some of their discontinued stuff was black and white. I have a set of Bulletproof x tilt lying around somewhere. Blitz x aura was another one, but I don't recall the color. They fell off when kpop/pro came out. Miss these ones sometimes.

There’s plenty of black, white, and grey strings on the market. Toroline’s whole identity is bright pops of color, so I think moving away from that would be counter to who they are. I can spot K-pop or Wasabi in a racket from across the court. That’s pretty cool, and I hope they stick to their guns. Sometimes strings clash with frame colors and that’s okay.

Yeah you guys are probably right. I guess I was just hoping for maybe some more chilled out alternative colors, not necessarily replacing the pastels/neons outright.

You aren't alone though. Whenever they ask for color opinions on insta, there are a lot of folks who want the grayscale spectrum.
