Toroline

Got my racket strung with O-toro tour main and sync cross. Normally hit with tour bite main and sync cross. Will try out tomorrow.

Just played around a bit with my otoro tour mains and sync cross setup for the first time today. Background my go to strings are tour bite mains with sync cross or full bed tour bite so I really prefer a stiff and crisp setup with a lot of feedback from my strings.

Will say that I have not played with the regular otoro so hard for me to compare the otoro tour with it, but the only other two toroline strings ive tried are caviar and enso pro. Otoro tour is interesting in that it does play a little stiff (not as stiff as tour bite) but it still has quite a bit of a muted dull feel to it that I really dislike unfortunately. I know some people really enjoy that "thump" feel on impact and this is what it feels like. The strings definitely have less spin than the tour bite even though otoro tour feels sharper to the touch. Power is higher. For me, with the decrease in spin and increase in power, I was hitting balls out more. I still think that toroline offers a great set of choice of strings that are overall geared more towards comfort and the slick snapback. I actually think that caviar still offers much more a connected and crisp feel compared to otoro tour, but its still not at the level of the stiff silver strings (TS, TB, TBHS7T, etc). Overall, don't think toroline is personally for me but I really do see how it can benefit a lot of other players today. I would say toroline is right on trend with all racket manufacturers pushing for more muted/comfortable rackets so they're definitely doing the right thing.

I know I haven't tried the regular o-toro, but I think the description of o-toro tour on the website fits exactly who this string is made for. For people who love o-toro, but want just a slight bit more stiffness and control.

Thx for the feedback. This lowers my expectations as we are more or less in the same boot. Will play it nonetheless, but will probably safe me the investment in a reel.

Any experience with a full bed of Enso Pro?

Round powerful abdominal slick poly should be just great in full bed no?

I will try this one and report later.. wondering if it holds tension ok....

Felt too mushy for me when I tried it. Pink color. I like it as a cross though, especially with toro toro.

I was VERY impressed with the stringbed consistency, control and spin of Super Toro but it's just way too muted an dull for my tastes.

Does Toroline make a string with similar control but more FEEDBACK and FEEL, or is teh muted thing their signature characteristic across the whole line?

One month with a full bed of enso pro here. Like you, I was also tempted with the idea of “round, powerful, slick poly” however I’ll have to say I was a bit dissatisfied with my experience. I strung my blade noir with enso pro at 55lbs to start off with and i already had mixed feelings about the set up after my first hitting session. If the stars aligned then i can hit the sickest inside-out forehand/down-the-line backhand. Unfortunately, I’m not sure whether to blame the string or the one piece stringing method I used (which ive been told lowers tension loss due to 2 knots being used) because after the 1st hour my shots are either lifting too high or driving past the baseline. My hitting partners haven’t noticed a drop in quality of my tennis but I personally feel off with this strings compared to the o-toro I had previously with the same racket.

For context, ive tried rpm power which also match the description for enso pro except for two things; softness and pocketing. Driving through the ball with rpm power was addicting, my shots were on a bullet-like trajectory to the white line of the baseline. I cannot say the same with enso pro. Enso pro did not produce the rpm needed to bring the ball down after shaping up the trajectory or pocket the ball well enough to drive through the ball.

Some pros; slickness, somewhat decent tension maintenance (the string seems to stiffen up just a bit but not to a point where it’s uncomfortable), and there are times where I can back my shots with a great driving force to hit clean winners. Striking/counterpunching were alright with this string but again, it doesn’t do anything exceptionally well. So if anything its has potential to be a great cross string given you put a redeemable string on the mains lol.

Hopefully you have a better experience with enso pro than me. I’m either gonna wait for enso pro to loosen up for another week or two or cut it out if my expectations aren’t met lol.

I tried it for a little while in the Percepts.. It felt good if you string it a little low(48ish).. I preferred the neon pink to the matcha as I think the string is thiner and it gives a better feel. Then I tried O-toro full bed and I prefer it much more as it holds the string tension well for a much longer time.

I have tried this in a v8 16x19 Blade and it was fun, but yet pretty crazy to play with

Enso Pro feels super powerful and you can really launch rockets at any point, but the response is sometimes really erratic and hard to predict
Spin potential actually isn't too shabby and it holds tension pretty well, but it just seems that extra bit stretchy and launchy as a whole
If I hit my flat serve or forehand right, it feels completely unplayable, but sometimes it will also fly out by a mile

If you then pair this with a racket that wants you to swing out fully, like the Blade does, then you really get into a dilemma
Next up, I will try this in a denser pattern like the GPro 18x20

Real question to everyone here is has anyone tried Yonex Poly tour rev compare to Otoro? Is it similar?
Similar ish but with way better snapback. PTP just isn't that special between other options like Hyper-G, even. Yeah, it's different but not as meaningfully as O-Toro. One could fall under the umbrella of good poly strings while the other is clearly above it, in my honest opinion. Especially if spin or durability really matter more.

Did you compare to polytour pro or polytour Rev? The question was for Rev

Ah, I think I helped loosely with the launch for rev through Direct Tennis. My mix-up, then. Either way, if the question is about spin, durability, snapback, etc., the o-toro will win hands down. But...if there is some other trait that matters more and resonates more that these other strings happen to have, then the user may like it more. I try to be objective and say things like "If the player is optimizing for maximum spin, durability...O-Toro here would be the obvious choice" but people also take that to imply that it somehow means it has less feel or something, which just isn't true.

Stiff strings like Zero favor lower tensions. Tension has so much to do with feel but people don't think about that. Most people just string mid tensions and often think the string that ages faster feels better. Well, maybe it's the dropping tension? Try lower tensions sometimes if feel is ever what is in question.

Sorry, that's a lot more to say than I was prompted to but I feel these impressions are all connected to how people perceive their experience or expectations.

Finally zero love joins the forum, this is what I've been waiting for

Tried white O-Toro with Ghostwire crosses and I didn't notice too much difference from full bed on the Pure Strike 16x19. Overall I find O-Toro hybrids somewhat underwhelming since putting in a round/slick/soft cross doesn't make too much difference in providing snapback/comfort since a full bed of O-Toro already has those qualities inherently. The appeal I see in putting a different cross with O-Toro is I guess to give it a bit more feel based on preference, or maybe giving a bit more control on open patterned racquets.

That has been my experience with GW as a cross. I am in search of finding one that provides Otoro with a bit more feel and control. I believe they are trying to address this with Otoro Tour. I believe @dr. godmode talks about an O-Toro/Sync as his goto hybrid.

Yeah I don't see much value in softening O-Toro, only stiffening it. There are not many options for slick, shaped mains that are firm. Lots of great options that aren't slick (Tour Sniper, Confidential, Lynx Tour) but not ones that are ultra slick.

Got a B2G1free deal at the tennis warehouse camp in IW. Got the new o-toro tour with two exclusive o-toro spin in neon green and pink. If you guys haven’t followed toroline on instagram, they just dropped a sharper version of the o-toro via “o-toro spin” for IW attendees. Seems like they’re going all in for their o-toro formula lol.

I too got otoro spin in pink and otoro tour at IW. Spin hits real nice in my 305s. Edges are very prominent on the string. Was told otoro spin samples would be coming by end of IW to Toroline site.

Is it just me or does O-Toro white seem a little stiffer and less lively than green?
When you say stiff do you also mean crisp? I’m just curious. I prefer a crisp string, that was the only downside of otoro for me. I have a set of o toro tour to try and if I can get the crisp feeling that might be a full time switch for me.
