Ok, some big first round: Haas def. Agassi, Nadal def. Hewitt, Gonzalez def. Schuettler, Santoro def. Ferrero, Safin def. Kiefer. Those are my guesses, hope they are right (cept Ferrero, but I just think it'll happen).

In the second round we can have Moya vs. Karlovic (Moya wins close), Grosjean vs. J Johannson, Ferrero vs. Ljubicic (Ljubicic), Roddick vs. Lopez (sadly, lol, feliciano just can't hack it, but who knows, he could blast well), Gaudio vs. Fish (Fish wins, Gaudio can't make it on the hard, his season is over now, unless he plays Palermo or whatever that clay tourney is later, maybe it's Sopot), Kuerten vs. Henman (Kuerten), and that's it. Hope my theories hold true. Oh and btw, Federer def. Nalbandian in one semi, Moya def. Roddick in other, and then, sadly, Moya loses final in 3 sets to Fed.

PCMD.. hmm if Moya loses to Fed in three.. shouldn't your sig read

Federer is the greatest, Carlos Moya is second, Ferrero third, Nalbandian & Coria tied for fourth. Semi-Western is the way to swing.

Wow so you think that most of the matches will be upsets? It would be exciting to see. I doubt Kuerten would beat Henman, the draw looks good. Ferrero won't loose to Santoro and I don't think that Nadal will beat Hewitt.

Let's see though!

Hmm, some interesting ones I predict:

Kratochvil over Miryni (Swiss looks to be getting his form back)

Pavel over Srichaphan (people forget Andrei won this thing!)

Hewitt over Nadal

Safin over Kiefer (a little shaky but I think Safin will come thru)

Escude over Lopez (Escude is better overall player when healthy, despite ranking)

Reid over Gaudio (if Gaudio is still in the draw)

UPSET SPECIAL: Zabaleta d. Henman, yeah I'll probably get burned for this one (which is why its the special lol), but Mariano has given Henman trouble in the past and he has a good game.
...
Oh yeah PCMD, Gaudio CAN play on hard just I think he gets discouraged way too easily. He beat Ferrero last year in Cincinnati and beat Agassi in a night match there a couple years ago, and took Federer to 3 in Canada last year.

I agree with most of those picks, Hewitt doesn't lose to people he shouldn't and with Nadal not completely healthy, I think Hewitt wins. But I disagree about your assessment of Lopez, I think that Lopez is an extremely talented player, but only needs to make some slight adjustments in his game to be a top ten player...right now anyways.

No doubt Lopez is very talented but at this time Escude if healthy (key word is 'if' with this guy) he is more dangerous on return of serve and passing shots.

The reward for winning is a likely date with Roddick though.

Sad Bogomolov got a matchup w/Kalovic in the first round.. Damn guy is trying to make a living heheh

To me the Nadal / Hewitt match up is the fascinating one. Marks a wonderful clash of styles with similar on court personalities. Hewitt's return to form is nigh on complete, and it will be interesting to see if he can hold a no doubt amped up Nadal. Can't wait for this. I can't help feeling wily "old" pro will prevail, but it's going to be great viewing if the Vamos gets rolling and starts hitting lines. Anyone save me tracking down when this one is being played?

Shame Ferrero had to retire again, he's retired more times than MJ!!!. He looked in real pain with his back. Well looks like i'll be backing Henman, Safin and Hewitt :D

See Liam, I just knew though what was going to happen in his match. What's wrong with Ferrero? He's a wuss man, everytime his wrist or left arm or ankle feels better, he falls and hurts something else. Man-up Ferrero and starting working out, you are one of my favs!!!

I thought ferrero won beause santaro retired? At least tahts what the website says...

Nope Ferrero definelty retired, he looked in real pain and you could feel it with him when he tried to serve. Poor chap!

Come on Tim!!!

Federer could possibly meet Srichaphan in the third rd...that could potentially be an incredibly entertaining match. I don't think they've played one another before.

If Safin can get by Kiefer in the first rd...he could do some damage. Some of the match-ups i'd really like to see:

Safin v. Roddick...power tennis at its best
Safin/Roddick v. Federer final....possible rematches of two of this yr's grand slam finals
Agassi v. Safin...rematch of epic aussie semifinal
