Touch Tennis

I heard about this a while back when the guys from Top Tennis did a few videos on their channel about it, and actually love mini tennis so this is still on my radar. Took a bit to find, but here was that video where I first saw it played.

Interestingly, back around 2008/9 when I was still playing racquetball all the old guys were trying to get me out for pickleball, but it was so God awful slow I stuck with racquetball and eventually took up tennis. I always thought if pickleball was faster and more active I would be interested. A coach I had my son with was from Italy and he was all about beach tennis and we used to do mini tennis on court with hard paddles and foam balls to work on volleys and net play. That was around 2013 or so. Then when I saw this, I kinda thought this was the best mix of everything I liked.

Like I said though, still on the radar but haven't done it like this yet. Was going to build a small court in my backyard because I have played pickleball and guest enjoy that at parties. So this gives me more tennis type activites I can do on the smaller court.

I would think the u10 foam balls are about the same as the touchtennis ball, but haven't even seen and official TT ball.

It's autumn here and the weather is going cool. Spending as much time on the small courts as the big ones because the bounce is a lot better. Our mini courts aren't the exact dimensions for TT, but close enough for us to enjoy ourselves.

Where do you get your balls? I cannot find any in the US.

Judging by the photos and the reviews, one of the WIlson starter foam balls seem to be about the same. QST 36 balls are often 7cm, tho, and softer foam from what I can see.
Shipping from the UK for TT or ZSIG versions might not be prohibitive. Remember, these do not lose their bounce over time like standard pressurized balls. They act like new nearly until they disintegrate. So they will last a lot longer than standard balls in play, and may be worth the extra costs.

I had the u10 Wilson balls the 36? Kids ball and the foam Gamma balls with a guy that used to play as a kid. They ended up using a promo stress ball that someone has. Maybe I will try Europe. It ends up being about $50 for 3 balls because of shipping and they are also charging me US tax.

I don’t get it. What’s wrong with real tennis?
Sometimes folks ask me what's wrong with my Ducati. Why am I riding the Harley. I'm riding the Harley because there's nothing wrong with it either. Both are great bikes in their own right. Not everyone or everything is one-dimensional.
