Tour Bite hybrid... what cross string?

It's been my best ever poly for power, control and spin and I want to look at it again following a long break - I've been checking other polys, a few multis/gut/hybrids etc.

QSN though: what would ppl cross a TB hybrid with?

BTW, the frame I'll be using here is a Juice 100. What I'd like is that great oomph, control and spin TB provides, but with something that feels good (for me this area is where TB is sometimes less than ideal), plus, as it's a big power frame I don't want a total missile launcher on my hands.

Any suggestions welcome. :)

TIA

I haven't played with it, but many of my customers like the Gosen OG Sheep Micro (17). I'm sure there's something better overall, but in the 'bang for the buck' column, there seems to be nothing better.

For the record, the frames are mostly PDs or Aero PDs, although one is an AG 300.

Yes, hear a lot of kudos for this string. Have never played it. I might invest in a set.

what are the tensions your using on the PD,s as ive got a set of TB but thinking of using Forten Sweet 17 as a cross instead of doing it in a full bed???.

any advice would be great

I've been doing the TB between 50 & 52, with the Gosen 4 lbs tighter.

I'd like to point out that I'm now using a Wise tension head. I previously used a simple drop-weight machine, and those tensions were 4lbs tighter, meaning I used to string the TB between 54 & 56. But the Wise is more accurate, and measurements w/ the iPhone racquetTune app showed a 4lb difference.

thanks Mclovin

im using a drop-weight machine so 50-52 sounds about right in my book:)
i was going to do TB in a full bed but think its going to be a tad stiff in my PD and dont fancy my arm falling off lol

IMO, Babolat N.Vy is the best solid-core cross and Genesis Thunderblast is the best multifilament cross. I have yet to find better.

Honestly be careful what you hybrid tour bite with. I did a hybrid of tour bite and TF multifeel in a Fischer MspeedPro98 SL and the tour bite was clearly sawing through the multifeel as I was hitting more and more. I only got about 6 hours with the hybrid until one of the crosses snapped but darnit if that wasn't one of the most sweet hybrids i've played with.

I really enjoyed Solinco's prepackaged hybrid of Tourbite and Vanquish. I thought they complimented each other nicely. I tried it with NXT and NRG 2 and didn't those hybrids as much.

Tour bite/Nvy is a tried and true hybrid. You can't screw that one up. Trust me.

It was you PP who put me on to Nvy last year last year of course, though strangely I've never hybrided it with TB.

I'll be honest pvaudio, I don't know anything at all about Thunderblast - but I'll read up on it now.

Nvy though seems a very popular choice right now.

Just tried Tourbite with X-one crosses. I would not recommend this setup. A lot of movement initially, but after settling in it was ok. The x-one snapped in only 4 sets too. I'm thinking of using gamma tnt 16 (black one) next.

Have you tried Tecnifibre NRG2? It plays similar to X-one

Yes, I've tried NRG2. I liked it much better than the x-one.
On a side note, just strung up the gama tnt2 black as a cross, wow, what an easy string to string

I know they are different types of strings but could anyone describe Thunder Blast and N.VY as a cross in terms of spin potential (allowing the poly to slide), durability, comfort, feel and power

+1

I liked it too but the fact that it broke once a week annoyed me.
