Tourna Big Hitter Silver 7 Tour

Just started using this string in my Volkl Sense 8/315. After some 6-7h of play, I like it. Strung at 56, but after first 3h seems like it lost 3-4lbs. However, has a nice feel, pockets the ball nicely and provides more control than power. In terms of spin, can't tell too much compared to other strings (previously used Solinco Hyper G, not grommets friendly in my case), since I tend to hit flat and with compact swings.
Waiting to see if this has any impact on my grommets as compared to the square Hyper G.

I played with it recently. It lasted almost 8 hours before I broke it. Overall, not my favorite string, but a solid value for the money. Tension maintenance was very good compared to other offerings like BHBR or BHB7. Spin felt similar to Hyper G or Tour Bite though there was a bit more power and sometimes I felt as though the ball would fly unexpectedly.

I was a participant in that playtest and Tourna Silver 7 Tour became my go-to string. In summary, I had initial concerns about control due to the high power level, but in the end became enamoured with the high launch angle, consistency and linearity of response across the spectrum of flat to extreme spinny shots, and flat putaway power. Add in long playability/durability and low price and it is a clear winner in my book.

Have a reel coming in tomorrow by the end of the day. Just finished a reel of BHB7. My hope is that it is similar with a bit more power and tension maintenance. Those haven't been a problem with BHB7 but it would not hurt.

Might pick up a reel also, my gamma zo verve has 3-4 string jobs left, always have one of these type of strings laying around, looking forward to trying it out. Reviews / feedback seem positive

After stringing the first frame with BHS7T it feels much more pliable than BHB7. Almost like BHB7 soft. I am hoping that the tension maintenance is there but it will probably require more tension than BHB7.
Have both Wilson 6.1 95 18x20’s strung at 45lbs. One with BHB7 and the other with BHS7T. Let the testing begin.

BHB7 is much softer playing, imo.

That is good to know. Thanks, I haven’t hit a ball with the Silver yet. More pliable stringing was nice. Haven't cared for the soft versions on strings such as Solinco or Luxilon.

I just saw the video review on TW youtube. A soft poly with excellent tension maintenance that plays like Tour Bite for under $10? I'm totally in.

I'm a big fan of BHSR. Has anyone tried it in a gut hybrid?

I can’t speak about this particular one. But I tried a set of Big Hitter Blue Rough 16g. I ended up buying a reel of it and I use it in a natural gut hybrid. I couldn’t be happier with the performance. (y)

If tension M. is as a great as they say this will be a popular string... will see what people report back with full beds and hybrids

Didn't work for me. TW-Europe had kind of a glitch and I had a chance to buy a reel of BHS7 under 10 Euro just when it came out couple of months ago. Used it full bed and in a hybrid with SP Firestorm in my Blade 2015 18x20 at 49 lbs but cut it after couple of hours because I didn't like how stiff and powerful the string was. Back to BHB7, wich I find much more superior than BHS7.

It’s nice to find a poly string at half the price of Hyper G and 1/3 the price of Alu Power. Better tension maintenance and great playability make this one a winner. Great spin as well.

Ordered 3 sets to try. Always trying to find something that holds tension well.

I've been using Silver 7 for a few weeks now and have been very impressed. I bought as many as I could with the happy hour deal.

Being a fan of Black 7, what makes this different from the Black 7? More power? Black 7 always felt razor sharp, where a 16g looked like a 17g.

Anyone who's used both, thoughts?

Hit with both this morning in the 6.1 95 18x20 @ 45/45. (1.25) The BHS7 actually felt less stiff and noticeably easier on the arm, very controllable. The BHB7 had more pop, hitting with depth was much easier. Going to keep playing both to see how it develops. Jury is still out for me on these two strings. My first impression right off of the stringer was different.
Hit three balls with the BHB7 and my brother said “more pop”.
Both great strings!
BHB7 may be more suited for the 6.1 95 18x20 and the BHS7 may be more suited for a powerful frame like PS97. Put in that frame at 50lbs. Will try that later today.

Interesting! I used it for a long time when it first came out, but then switched to Tier-One Tour Status 17g because I felt it had more actual pop in my Prince than the BHB7 (16x19 @ 45/42). Not sure I'd use something "softer" from them but that's good to know. Kind of sounds like a Solinco Hyper-G?

Yes it felt more like Hyper G than BHB7. BHS7T is easy on the arm. It’s like a softer version of Tourbite. Nice to find a controllable poly that isn’t more taxing on the arm and has good tension maintenance.

Have you tried any of the Tier-one stuff? If you're a stringer or a head pro (or say you are lol) they can cut you a 50% deal. I love their strings personally, and great customer service. I can't speak too much on tension maintenance because I move on if I don't like how they feel haha

Never tried Tier one. Think I’m just gonna stick with a Tourna for awhile.

I found S7T to be softer than Hyper-G. Hyper-G feels more muted on impact whereas S7T has a crisper feel with a hint of springiness to it. The contact feel of S7T is like a hybrid of Tour Bite and Cyclone.

Off center hits feel more muted but also more jarring with Hyper-G.

My first impression stringing BHS7T was that it was more pliable and softer than BHB7. That impression was correct. The first hitting session it feels crisp at first and then a soft feel, good spin, easy on the arm. I was getting a lower launch angle than with BHB7. Was having to really focus on hitting the bottom of the ball with BHS7T to get depth and then switched to BHB7, hit the first three balls 4-6ft out.

I found the Silver7 to be a tad more powerful and a tad stiffer than the Black7. Exactly what I wanted as an upgrade to the black. Tension Mait is excellent.

Shows how racquet dependent these two strings are. I strung two 6.1 18x20 95’s @ 45lbs @ the same time, one with BHB7 and the other with BHS7T. Obvious on the first three balls how much more pop from the BHB7 and I actually hit the first couple of balls long. My opponent immediately said “more pop”. BHS7T has more control and hitting with depth really required a conscious effort to hit under the ball. BHS7T is a much more pliable string when stringing and reflects that in this frame as it is much easier on the arm. These are 12..5oz frames so that could make the difference in results.
In the PS97 found BHB7 to bee too powerful and couldn’t find the court on returns. BHS7T toned down the power of the PS97 frame and plays well.

Racquets, tensions and conditions can make a big difference in testing strings. I have hit with BHB7 before at 47-48 in the 6.1 18x20 and it felt like a board.

This string is making a bit of popularity noise, when I do get a pack i'll hybrid it with a smooth poly and also full bed in my g360 extreme and angell tc100

Great string, went up from 50lbs to 52lbs in the PS97 to see if I can get some more control. Same in the 6.1 95 18x20 went from 45lbs to 47lbs.

Put the 17 gauge S7T into a v7 Blade 98 18X20 at 46 pounds and it was at the high end of my preference. But the string still worked well and highlighted the strengths of the Blade, that being controlled power and solidity of contact.

I've converted a couple of people to this string already - one was a Tour Bite user and another an Alu Power user.

Bought a reel of the BHS7T so sticking with it for awhile. I’m thinking about getting the Blade V7’s on my Wilson contract. Have been back and forth lately with the 6.1 95 18x20 and the PS97. Really like the control of the 18x20. Am accustomed to playing head light frames so am thinking I could put lead strips on the grip with a Wilson Pro over grip and be ready to go. You liking that frame?

The Blade version I tried is a very good frame! The major problems are that I'm used to my SW104, which is an inch longer, and also that I put two heat shrink sleeves on it along with lead at 3 and 9 o'clock, so it's more than an ounce heavier and 25+ swingweight units greater. Adjusting for the closer sweetspot took conscious thought, and I had problems with my forehand, I think because I rely on the mass of the racquet to achieve wrist layback as I initiate the forward swing. Without that and I tended to have both timing problems and an inability to get the head of the frame underneath the ball as much as I would like, making me hit the ball flatter and with a lower trajectory.

That being said, I didn't have a lot of previous experience with non-countervail Blades, and while both my SW104 and the v7 Blade are both well damped and solid when hitting the sweetspot, the SW104 is really muted while the v7 Blade has a crisp feel. It is amazingly powerful for its swingweight, but still very consistent and controlled. It's a bit light in stock form and volleys best a bit below center on the stringbed - it feels like strokes where the entire racquet moves forward as a whole, rather than rotating around the grip, are where the lack of mass is most apparent. But volley on the sweetspot and it's firm, solid, and accurate. Serves were solid as well once I got adjusted to losing that extra inch.

I'd switch to the v7 if only the SW104 came with the new construction. I'm slightly toying with the idea of getting a v7 Blade 104 and putting an XTP buttcap on. Since switching to the SW104, I've been searching for a higher launch angle, and now that the v7 Blade 104 is 16X19 rather than the previous 18X19, I'm pretty sure it will give me that without having to resort to a fairly high tension differential between mains and crosses like I'm currently using.

Did you see the video I posted of my ball machine session with the stock v7 Blade? Really a lot of pop at its low stock weight, and it seems like a great platform for customization. I'd be really curious to hear your thoughts if you get one!

Right on, haven’t seen the video yet. The weight of the frame I am concerned about even though the SW is in the 330’s. Guess I am just going to have to give it a try and have a roll of 1/4 lead tape handy. Thanks

Will be interesting to see what the call is on this string. I have it 2lbs tighter then BHB7 in my frames.

I remember a few weeks ago we were speculating on whether S7T has better tension maintenance than BHB7, which didn't get a good review on that aspect. But you're stringing S7T tighter than BHB7 so it seems tension maintenance hasn't been an issue for you with BHB7, or at least the S7T isn't any better at tension maintenance. Is that correct?

Seems like I am playing with BHB7 soft. The BHS7T is easier on the arm and doesn’t seem to have as much pop to me as BHB7. Seems a bit more muted. It is a great string and I’m gonna play a reel. Tension maintenance is there for sure it’s just a different string.
At 45lbs it seemed like the strings were separating due to sliding really well when I would generate a lot of racquet head speed. Have experienced this before in the RF97 when the poly in iit was too loose.
When stringing BHB7T it is more pliable and slides easier than BHB7. Would have a hard time believing it is a stiffer string than BHB7.

@USPTARF97 Thanks for the clarification. Sounds like I need to give BHB7 a try. I'm not sure I want even more power than I get from S7T, but a bit crisper response would be nice. I'll probably go up a couple of pounds with BHB7, the opposite of what you've done, to try and lower the power levels. Hope I can do that and still retain the higher launch angle.

The reel of BHB7 is also $99.95! What a heck of a deal. It's almost not worth buying just a couple of packs.

Sounds good, BHB7 is know as a powerful string. BHS7T I’m going for a little more feel with a string that seems fairly easy on the arm. It will be a toss up between the two when have to order another reel. Think the confusing part is trying to achieve different things with different frames, strings and tensions. My 6.1 18x20’s need power where my PS97’s do not. Ended up with BHS7T in the PS97 and BHB7 in the 6.1 95’s. Look forward to hearing your results.
