This was my most recent tournament... I am Robert S. on consolation draw line 17-18
I withdrew first round, because of a traffic jam, that forced us to be late...
I played really bad tennis second round... (Almost lost to a guy ranked in the 80's for our section ><) I was down 5 match point in the third set tiebreak, and i started underhand serving. On my match point, he tried to underhand serve on double faulted.
My dad was pissed after the match, so I went to the hotel with my doubles partner, and his older brother.
The next day, i woke up at 11:20, and the match was at 11:30, so i didn't have breakfast and just went to play my match....
The guy i played was ranked in the twentys in California, and he was whooping me in the first set. I didn't hit a single winner the whole set....
I started the second set by winning the first two games by pushing. Then he came to net more, and went up 5-2 40-15, then he started to choke. He double faulted twice, aced me once, to get in ad-in, and double faulted two more times. At 5-3, i held at love with 2 aces, and he started spraying his shots all over. At 5-4, he had 3 more match points, but i won those three points by pushing. Then I held to go up 6-5. At 5-6, he started to "try" to push, but he kept dumping balls into the net. And i won set point with another underhand serve
Tiebreak:
I lost the first point, when he hits four or five good shots in a row, which i push back, and then he hits a drop shot. I fall over on my ankle, and the guy starts laughing. I make a inappropriate finger gesture, and start the next point.
He then wins 5 points in a row to go up 6-0 when we change sides.
I get really pissed, and start hitting every shot as hard as i can, and it goes to 6-6. I pull out an underhand serve, which he kills, and then i get aced to go down 6-8.
I keep drop shotting him at 6-8, and he keeps making weak approaches, where i can pass him.
I get to 9-8, and i hit as hard as i can, and he misses his backhand wide.
I go up to the net to shake hands, and he doesn't even shake, he goes up to me and says, "*** You!!!' and he leaves.
I see my next match is in 10 minutes, and i haven't had breakfast or lunch, and its already 2:14 pm, and i'm super tired...I tell my doubles partner, and the tournament director i have to withdraw....
DAMN! i thought i had a chance to at least get to the Quarterfinals.... the guy in the next round... i've beaten him in practice before...
i thought i had a chance
I'm playing a tournament in Long beach next weekend... i hope i have a chance...
