yo mo, i dont kno about u... but i feel obliged as a new englander to say this... EASTERN SUCKS!!!!, and that was directed towards the players attitudes in general not their abilities. but to further prove my point a 10 yr old is 1 in your section, thats pretty weak...

After ebing scared away from the competing scene because of mostly A)injury but partly B) multplie spankings, I ventured back into the tournament fray...

I got spanked..... 2 and 3. :(

But I was impressed with my progress cos i was 5-0 down and got it to 5-3 before I lost. I didn't throw a paddy and spit the dummy, and I'm going into another tourney in a week, instead of being scared away.

I'll report back

its not even that we want to prove that we are superior to you new englanders i dont even hold a grudge against you guys. you guys are not a weak section and plus look at it this way noah rubin can smack most of your players and look aaron revzin is your number one... thats not too great our former number ones in the twelves especially one who is 12 in the nation, tj pura can whip him. not to mention the 14's, 16's and 18's can all beat your age groups respectively. and to prove my point look at past zonals.

and to mention... mjeez bet you wouldn't beat noah rubin and if you did u must be in the 14's age group or older. noah rubin is riding on a full sponsership from head... won the dam last national open so dont underestimate him bet he can beat every single one of you new engladers cept for a few and i admit some are good.

This was my most recent tournament... I am Robert S. on consolation draw line 17-18

I withdrew first round, because of a traffic jam, that forced us to be late...

I played really bad tennis second round... (Almost lost to a guy ranked in the 80's for our section ><) I was down 5 match point in the third set tiebreak, and i started underhand serving. On my match point, he tried to underhand serve on double faulted.

My dad was pissed after the match, so I went to the hotel with my doubles partner, and his older brother.

The next day, i woke up at 11:20, and the match was at 11:30, so i didn't have breakfast and just went to play my match....

The guy i played was ranked in the twentys in California, and he was whooping me in the first set. I didn't hit a single winner the whole set....

I started the second set by winning the first two games by pushing. Then he came to net more, and went up 5-2 40-15, then he started to choke. He double faulted twice, aced me once, to get in ad-in, and double faulted two more times. At 5-3, i held at love with 2 aces, and he started spraying his shots all over. At 5-4, he had 3 more match points, but i won those three points by pushing. Then I held to go up 6-5. At 5-6, he started to "try" to push, but he kept dumping balls into the net. And i won set point with another underhand serve :)

Tiebreak:
I lost the first point, when he hits four or five good shots in a row, which i push back, and then he hits a drop shot. I fall over on my ankle, and the guy starts laughing. I make a inappropriate finger gesture, and start the next point.

He then wins 5 points in a row to go up 6-0 when we change sides.

I get really pissed, and start hitting every shot as hard as i can, and it goes to 6-6. I pull out an underhand serve, which he kills, and then i get aced to go down 6-8.

I keep drop shotting him at 6-8, and he keeps making weak approaches, where i can pass him.

I get to 9-8, and i hit as hard as i can, and he misses his backhand wide.

I go up to the net to shake hands, and he doesn't even shake, he goes up to me and says, "*** You!!!' and he leaves.

I see my next match is in 10 minutes, and i haven't had breakfast or lunch, and its already 2:14 pm, and i'm super tired...I tell my doubles partner, and the tournament director i have to withdraw....

DAMN! i thought i had a chance to at least get to the Quarterfinals.... the guy in the next round... i've beaten him in practice before...

i thought i had a chance

I'm playing a tournament in Long beach next weekend... i hope i have a chance...

wats up with all this underhand serves robert. looks like u won that match by annoying the crap out of him which is good for you but not pretty to watch. i dunno if im against ur strategy in that close match you had winning 12-10 or so when the other guy didn't shake your hand. another thing you wake up that close to your match? i wake up to have enough time to eat breakfast, warm up, and etc.

WOW, i just got my butt kicked 0 and 1 by Brandon Thompson. Now that i look back on it it was a little closer than that but stilll..... Anyway, i had 4 games where i had game point but couldn't pull it out, it was really stupid too because on 1 of them he hit the ball waaay out but i was at net and wasn't thinking so hit it. On another i was up 40-15 and he hit a ball long but i called it in, im not sure why, lol it was going so fast. He really wasn't all THAT good, but his serve was insane. His 2nd serve had more pace than my 1st and it was a kick serve that hopped over my head. He probably wn 75% or more of his points off service winners (in games he was serving obviously).

Anyway, a good learning expierence i guess....

for one... did you find out i played julian ruffin through my ranking post? that seems most obvious... well you know i should have beaten him he may have made some tight calls but other than that he can be known as a pusher as well... i came back from 5-2 i think in the second to 5-4 but couldnt' pull it out. i mean if i had to play him again i would come in with a strategy at least and i really think i could beat him... better luck next time

So, you are from New England I see. What tournament are you guys talking about? I am from Eastern and this is my link of my sectional. Do you know any that you heard of or played?

- The first one is the 12's
- The second one is the 14's (you'll probably know many of these kids!)
I am #23 on the fist one.

state level might work (level 8?)...u don't get points but you get a t shirt i think. and it's round robin i think so there's no pressure of losing first round and then going home right away.

I played my first tourny today. Novice. It was scheduled for yesterday but was rained out.
It's a beautiful Sunday morning and I get to play tennis. Yay!
It's either cold or I got the pre-game shivers.
8 AM... Sweet.
I played Joshua in Guys 14s.
He had a huge serve for a beginner, Ran around the backhand, and was easily pressured when I was at net.
Lost first set 4-6.
Second Set 6-2.
Third set leading 3-1. Dropped the ball. 3-6. I noticed I was rushing, trying to grab it before it slipped away but it just made it worse. But when that happened, it was too late. =/
I lost.
Two hour match. From freezing cold to burning hot. Fremont is quite a place.
There's always next time.

yep. Switched to DP from the numerous Sporttimes I tried (never learned a thing at those places). Plus DeerPark has really good players.

Which sportimes? And who was your pro? John and Bill Cook at Kings Park are phenominal. I am friendly with a bunch of Syosset and Bethpage guys too but don't know how well they teach.

Well I live in syosset, so its pretty convenient going to syosset sporttime. Only problem was, after going there for at least four years, I was still a beginner that had a decent serve. At the end of 7th grade I became more serious, started to go outside of sporttime, and then before the season started for school last year I went to deerpark and got like 10 times better in a week, so I barely made my JV team. Now, after a year at dp, (not to be cocky, but in truth) I'm probably Top 8 or Top 5 on my JV team.

Only tried syo and bethpahge.

Who was your pro at Syosset? You can e-mail me if you don't wanna broadcast it over the airwaves :)
