Transforming from Medvedev to Medieval - Daniil's best shots

It's pretty sad that you actually have to elaborate what Looney Tunes is.
I grew up watching them so, I know where you're coming from.
It was meant for those who didn't is all.

I don't think I'm that far off base though, the way he runs, the way his forehand wraps around.

It wasn't meant in a derogatory way, just suggesting that it's sad that other people don't know the greatness that Looney Toones was.

yeah leyton hewitt was the same... tenascious/brilliant defensive play on fast surfaces, gets rolled off the court on clay. i always associate good defence = good on clay but these two disproves that
They hit very flat which leads to their shots losing a lot of sting once they land. Clay also requires the use of angles and hitting flat makes it harder to hit more angles consistently. Medvedev especially seems to rely on the flat, almost skidding action/penetration of his groundstrokes to gain an advantage during a rally but clay really takes that away.
Murray was another player that on paper would be good on clay but really was not as good as you would think.
Murray and Hewitt are also counter punchers who don't generate a lot of pace on their own. Clay kinda rewards you more for generating your own pace/angles (and you have time for it). Murray and Hewitt's advantages were being solid volleyers, using your pace against you and having good instincts/creativity but clay doesn't reward those skills as much.
That's why a guy like Muster did well even though he wasn't a good volleyer nor was he a "natural" like Federer.
Of course, Nadal is also a good volleyer and is creative but those skills are on top of the clay fundamentals

That Verdasco point in the first video of the OP is just silly. Fernando had like five straight put-aways that he totally botched. :-D

The stars were just too bright. They blinded him.

1,000 dollars if someone gets that reference.

Of course Dean. I was commenting on the match thread from start to finish. I have enjoyed all the matches so far, and will continue to.
Were you? I do not follow match threads as do not watch many WTF matches bud. Glad you enjoyed the match. Medvedev seems to have Djokovics number now. I was surprised by the result but evidently you knew what was coming so bravo.

Good tennis is good tennis as I always say. If all someone cares about is the end result, then why bother.
