I added 9 grams total to 3 and 9 on my yonex rds 001 mp and 3 grams at 12. I am using an overgrip that weighs .2 ounces. How much more weight/if at all should I add to the bottom of the racquet to counterbalance the weight. I do not want to remove the butt cape because I do not want to mess things up. Instead is it ok to wrap the lead tape around the bottom of the handle, just above the butt cap? If not, where should it be added without removing the butt cap? My racquet weighed in at 11.9 with an overgrip before I added lead. I do not want to go above 12.4 ounces, and do not want a swingweight over 335. Thanks a lot for the help

Should I remove some weight from the head when I counterweight it in the handle because I cannot go above 12.4 ounces, or a 340 swingweight max? I am adding the weight because I want to get more stability on returns of serves and because I am used to playing with 12.0z and higher weight racquets. I added the lead at 12 to get some more plow through on my shots, but the racquet seemed a bit sluggish with the weight at 12. Originally, I added 9 grams at 3 and 9, 3 at 12, and 6 under the handle, with a .02 oz overgrip. The racquet weighed 12.8 oz which is way to heavy for me. So I am starting from scratch.

just put 1 strip, 4 inches length max at 3 & 9, and remove all weight at 12

you can wrap lead tape around the bottom of the handle no problem, or you can wrap it around the top of the grip or you can divide it between the both. its trial and error.

as for the swing weight im not smart enough to figgure that out, but removing the weight at 12 and placing it at 7inches from the butt or the bottom of the handle, or length wise on the handle, will make it feel easier to swing.

remember trial and error

keep it simple

add weight slowly

you can add a 1/2 inch length or less at 12 later if you need, but keep it simple

Paul, when you say add 4 inches, is that of 1/4 or 1/2 inch tape?

either, but longer then 4 inches in length will cause heft and swing weight issues.

if you have 1/4 inch go with 3-4 inches

if you have 1/2 inch go with 2.5 - 3.5 inches

this is just my opinion, not raw data fact from the master travlerajm

travlerajm, I now have 1 gram total at 12, 8 grams total at 3 and 9, 2 grams total above the butt cap on the bottom of the handle, and an overgrip. What do you think of that setup?
