Tried out new setup for P17 Pure Strike

Just went out and hit for about an hour with my dad. By no means any high-quality drilling but got a pretty good feel for the string bed. Had full beds of Wilson Revolve and Hyper-G strung in them before and they were really stiff. Wanted a more arm friendly setup, but this might be too arm friendly with not enough spin.

I really like the Pure Strike but the stringbed feel so inconsistent sometimes, really need perfect technique with this stick and string setup to hit good balls. Definitely not as much grab as a full bed of Hyper-G but really plush feeling hybrid. Will hit more and report back this weekend.

Update. Drilled for about 4 hours indoors on Sunday and the setup was feeling really good. Hit with both racquets and the strings felt way better after they had been broken in. Forehand was firing on all cylinders and volleys were very nice and plush. No arm discomfort at all. The only thing I couldn't get working that well was my serve. Great pace and placement, but I couldn't get the kick that I normally get when hitting with a full bed of poly. Could be the case that I am getting the same amount of spin but I just miss the feeling of full poly. Overall great setup if you have good racquet head speed and hit the ball in the sweet spot. Lobs felt great and were on target. 8/10 doubles setup.

Really? Not my experience at all. I thought it was a pretty point and shoot right out of the box kind of racquet. Very easy to play tennis with, like an old school Pure Drive but more flex. I guess it’s all personal preference.

For sure. Before this, I played with the Prince EXO3 Tour 100 which was so soft that the whole stringbed felt like butter. The Pure Strike just seems like it has a smaller sweetspot. That coupled with my timing being off and coming back to tennis after a couple years probably doesn't make the transition that easy.
