Can’t believe Jacques Chaussette got yet another WC after quitting at 2-4 down first set in The Real Slam 1R of qualies after getting a WC into that match.

I can understand if he was a perennial second weekend achiever at Flushing but he has one 4R result five years ago.

When will this madness end?
i hate some of these joke wildcards.
at least one each mens/womens wildcards were given to players ranked in the 700s.

What is everyone's predictions for Medvedev Dimitrov match?
Ooooh That's a tough one Erm Med wins easy 6-0 6-0 ?

I'm so bad at prediction and easily make a fool of myself so avoid predictions, but If Dim beats Mad Lad I'll eat my hat.
Meddle would need to be dead for Dim to beat him ...I could beat Dimitrov and I would lose if I played Stringer Tom !!! LOL !

Two routine slices way out wide. Dimitrov is too inconsistent. He also gave up his strategy of slicing ins his last service game, which quickly went bad.

Meddy is picking up on his master's habits; increasing the grunt in volume and drama as a rally intensifies.

I just watch Dimi play and can't help but think,
yeah, baby Fed alright.
He looks like Fed, models his game after Fed,
even uses the same racket as Fed (coincidence?).
But in the end, he's just a mere shadow of the great one.

His vision ain't too good either.
He just hit a ball a foot over the baseline and stood for a few seconds
questioning the call!

The age of Grigorgeous is here again?
LOL ! Yes ! - the "age of Grigorgeous" ROTFLMAO - I forgot that piece of Dim BS hype.
Dimitrov; the player who was going to win multiple slams, wipe the floor with Fedalovic, murder Murray, on and on it went.
.....Here on TTW he was all some could talk about for years....
Did nothing ( No I don't count the EOY fluke ).

Federer had some very bad challenges. I used to find it strange how a player who seems to have such good eyesight could be mistaken so often on challenges.

The problem for Dimitrov is that everything he does, he does worse than Federer, even if they have similar games. His FH does not even compare, BH topspin is really inconsistent, although the slice is very good, his movement is worse, especially going forward and Federer also serves better. Another problem for Dimitrov is that he can't take time away from his opponents, which is something that Federer does very well. Imagine how ridiculous Medvedev would look trying to play against Federer so far behind the baseline while having his awful forward movement.

Med takes a spill. Racquet looked like it popped up and hit him in the head. Dimi rushes to his aid. He's o.k

Med he can play but he just tripped over his own feet. I like Med - He can actually perform.

He has no style though. But who needs style like Dimitrov ??

The secret to Med's success is the amazing agility he has for such a tall man.
No degree of awkwardness in his movement. (Anybody could have tripped trying to get to that last shot).
This is on top of his solid ground strokes and mental strength.

It has always struck me how lacking in power Dimitrov is. When he first came onto the scene and was hailed as Baby Fed, I thought this guy given his size (a couple inches taller than Fed) and athleticism (similar speed and agility as Fed) would bring the kind of aggressive power tennis that Fed brought in his early prime years. But in hindsight he's a taller, slimmer version of Gasquet. There's no pop on any of his shots whatsoever!

Dimitrov, the rising star, played a great game against Dolgopolov. Dolgopolov also played great but Dimitrov had the edge on staying fully focused on the match.
What do you think, should Djokovic be worried?
Above post from TTW Thread in 2014. Even then it was clear Dim was a comparative non starter ...
Nice Dropper Dim ... Keep trying !

Every hosting nation’s tennis governing body awards WCs. Do you get upset with TA in January when an unknown Aussie gets in at AO? How about FFT when a young Frenchman gets in at RG? How about LTA for Brits at Wimby? At least USTA sets two of their rewards: win the Zoo 18s or be an American winner of the NCAA. Both are traditions going back decades and both imply the player was busy doing more than building a ranking. One was probably in HS instead of on the tour; the other was in college.

Bellyache all you want. They will not listen.

Good to see Mad Lad cruising through the first couple rounds. Next match should be quite tough, regardless of which opponent makes it through.

What's up with Paire? Is it the crowds, the impending free fall down the rankings? Suddenly he cares about tennis again.

Same could be said for Mr. 500, Gaël Monfils...

Give me Monfils-Paire pls. Also, did Benoit just win with 20 DFs? Anyone knows the record for Bo3?

Pretty sure the record is also held by Paire. Before Zverev came along, he was the DF meme.
Men have somehow never matched Kournikova’s 31 DFs in a match win at AO. At least Paire is putting some mustard on both deliveries whereas Anna could have just placed her serve and still won. Odd too that she was a very good dubs player and should know the value of “getting the first one in.”

Marriage suits Gael!

Paire has always been a crapshoot. I just mentioned this is his deepest run at a M1K since he made Rome’13 SFs. At big tournaments Benoit is usually only good for a paire of wins, maybe 3 (4R at 4 slams).

Think we're going to see a similar scoreline to the Medvedev match for Zverev today. He's serving too good and Pella wasn't great yesterday despite the lopsided score against Fognini.

Medvedev is the best of Hewitt with a world class serve. That’s a formidable combo. That’s why he’s so good on the fast courts.
Hewitt was way faster and way better mover than Medvedev. Also better defensively.
Medvedev is nowhere as good off the ground as Hewitt was. He has a bigger serve though. He sucks vs low slices.
