Anyone tried it? Tier One was gracious enough to send me a set of 17G a couple weeks ago and strung it up tonight. Can't say I've ever strung or played with a triangle shaped string. Stuff feels like weed eater line, super sharp edges! Should provide some good spin. Bright red in color, looks pretty cool with my Angell frame and red grommets/grip.

Strung up at 52/48. Very similar to Cyclone tour, IMO. Nice soft feel, the color's nearly identical. Looks like a Twizzler haha. We'll see how it plays!

It's pretty sweet. It pockets nicely and gives a comfy spin. It's not crazy spin but it's abundant so it's effortless.

For a poly, it's pretty comfortable, not very stiff but not mushy. It's low powered for sure. I found control was 6/10 which isn't bad but I struggled finding my range.

I quite enjoyed it, overall 7.5/10

Sweet. I figured the spin would be pretty good with the sharp edges. I can tell it's going to be pretty soft, even right off the stringer last night. I don't normally play full poly, so I'm excited to see how it does tomorrow night!

For sure let us know how it goes! How did that Clarke string work out by the way?

I tested last two month.
Very soft poly, good spin but low power,,
Good enough tension maintain.

My best Tier one string set, more than Tour status.

Well, just logged 2 hours with the string with various light and hard hitting. No match play. Feel like I hit the ball really well tonight.

I have to say I really really, enjoyed hitting with this string. Cluckcluck and nycoara were pretty spot on.

For me, a lot of how I rate my strings is the feel on impact. I generate plenty of spin on my own, so I don't put too much stock when comparing strings. But Firewire definitely did what it was supposed to do as far as spin goes. Spin was effortless, didn't have to work for it. I was very impressed with several shots I really went for and generated some extra RPM's, I could really see the ball dip and take a huge kick. Like I said, I don't put a ton of stock in spin potential, but Firewire def didn't disappoint.

I've mentioned before that I normally play Poly mains with Multi crosses, just because I haven't found a full poly set that I've been crazy about and like the softer feel multi crosses provide. But this was the first full poly setup I really, really liked. I was worried about it feeling mushy when I strung it, but that wasn't the case at all. Like cluckcluck said, sweet ball pocketing, very comfortable plush feel. With a good swing the string feels awesome.

That's all I'll comment on for now. Liking this string a lot right now, we'll see after a few more hitting sessions how the tension holds. I'll probly play them till they pop, so we'll see how many hours I get out of the 17G.

Great to hear! I'm glad you liked it. I'm sure you can agree with me that this could be a contender for a "must try" poly. The next time you hit with it, I think you'll like it much better :)

Definitely! Like I said, I'm not much of a full poly player but I could see myself coming back to this set soon!

Logged another couple hours on the set with various hitting and a set of doubles tonight. Contrary, I've had no problem finding good pop from the string. I did string it low, and I'll check the tension tomorrow but still has a good lively feel, with good spin and control. Definitely softer than Friday.

We'll see how the spin changes the next couple hitting sessions as the edges wear.

FireWire- 4 Hours.

Thanks for making the effort of reporting about our T1 Firewire co-poly. We would be interested if you could draw a comparison to any other co-poly string currently on the market. We hear a lot that our Tour Status co-poly plays similar to RPM and Blackcode but it appears that people are having a difficult time comparing Firewire to another string.

No problem. A big thanks to T1 for the samples as well. Honestly, I mentioned it, but it just felt like a much better Cyclone Tour. Like this is how CT was supposed to feel haha. But T1FW out performed the Volkl in pretty much every category. It's hard to make a comparison, there's not many strings quite like it.

Hopefully I'll be going back to FW in my next set, but I'll be trying 18G. Can't wait!

Did anyone here try to hybrid T1 Firewire with a slick poly like Mosquito Bite, Co-Focus or Red Devil in the crosses? Or do these strings perform much better in a full bed? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I too would be interested in knowing how this performs with a hybrid of firewire mains and a slick poly vs a full bed. bumping this thread back up!

I am currently using a hybrid of T1 Firewire 1,30 mm mains / Pro's Pro Red Devil 1,24 mm crosses. It makes the stringbed a bit plusher compared to a full T1 Firewire setup, since Red Devil is softer than Firewire. That being said, I have never observed any arm discomfort with a full setup of Firewire. It seems to be one of the more comfortable offerings among the stiffer poly strings.

The main reason why I switched to the Firewire / Red Devil hybrid was notching. With its three sharp edges, (a full bed of) Firewire causes considerable notching after about 2-4 hours of playing. Let me say that the notching didn`t cause any durability issues for me, in fact, Firewire lasts 8-10 hours even on clay courts with heavy topspin hitting. However, around the 5 hour mark, the notching usually begins to hinder string movement, and I feel that the mains are somehow locked in the grooves of the crosses. Switching to a slick round poly like Red Devil in the crosses solved that issue for me.

Spin and durability have not been affected by the softer cross string, at least not that I could notice. I usually cut my strings out after 7-10 hours of hitting, so longevity hasn't been an issue for me. The spin level of the hybrid is great, as it is in the full Firewire setup.

I let some other players at my club hit with my setup and they liked the blend of power, control, spin, ball pocketing and comfort.

I still keep some of my racquets strung with a full bed of T1 Firewire though for competetive matches, in case I face a hard hitter against whom I need a maximum of spin and control to reign in the power of the incoming balls.

Hope that helps.

Has anyone tried this on RF97A, I am curious to know as I would like to try this either on my RF97A or PS95, both racquets have different behavior. Which one would this string compliment the best, and at what tension?

Update - I tried Firewire string on my RF97A, at 58lbs, it worked great for 2 hitting sessions, I loved the control I got from this setup, my opponent was really shocked to see me hitting too many winners. Lost about 3-4lbs tension after first session of 2hrs, then the next day(2hrs) was okay, lost another 2lbs. But thereafter after the ball started flying from my racquet. I had put a dampner and plan to try hitting with it for 3rd session tomorrow and see if I have to cut it off and restring.

If you are not aware, we are offering a co-poly/co-poly hybrid setup called FireWire BOOST: T1-FireWire + Ghost Wire. Ghost Wire is a round, slick, super soft co-poly. The reason for offering this string package is exactly what you are trying to accomplish with the red devil setup.

how is this Firewire string ? from the chart it's got great power and #1 spin in the poly market ?? i thought black knight had #1 spin ?

Some of the best tension maintenance of anything in its stiffness range and spin potential right up there with Ultra Cable. That said, directional control can be slightly erratic, due to the outer-most triangle point of the string not projecting at a uniform angle up/down the mains/crosses. IMHO, twisted triangular and/or 4+ sided strings are more predictable. You should still try Firewire, though, if for nothing else than just the point of reference.

I don't like it. I don't get anymore spin out of it than I do Black Knight. It has little feel. I bought the Tier One sample package a couple of times and Firewire was my least favorite string of the bunch. I also have tried Firewire Boost and don't like it either. The stand out string for me from Tier One was Black Knight.

I Agree that the Black Knight is much better and for me I feel it’s their best string.
