PR 1.28 Vs PR 1.28/GW 1.27

-GW takes away many of PR vibrations. More soft feel but less connected.
-Hybrid reminded me the feel of strings like Lynx Touch.
-Definitely less power (more evident while on defence) and less spin/launch.
-If you go for it could give you more power on flat serve but in general full bed could produce a heavier and meaner ball.
-I couldn’t change directions with ease….. maybe because the hybrid has less byte and grab in general.
-Dwell time of those 2 is very different. Full bed more responsive.

If full bed gave me arm pain i would consider the hybrid. Very sweat and lovely setup but full bed gives more connection with the ball and as a result more confidence of what’s going on.

Next test: 1.28PR Vs 1.28/1.23

Playtest update:

Played 10 hours total so far (incl 2 more UTR matches):

- Overall mixed feelings (PR @ 46 in Gravity Tour)
- Comfortable and hits a heavy ball
- Serves still don’t feel great (lack of spin) but looking at video my opponent took they’re about as effective as my regular
- I use slice backhand a lot and it feels compromised
- Feels too powerful / too much pocketing (eg reacting to hard hit return).

What I’m thinking next:
- Have BK 1.23 on the way (like the color and “less elastic PR” someone called it sounds appealing)
- Could try PR 1.23 crossed with something stiffer as @Trip recommended; or just string it higher, say @49
- Could try PR 1.28 (since it’s comfortable the beefiness tradeoff might be fine) @Blade_X experience is encouraging
- To complicate matters I’m also considering a switch to Gravity Pro (at least for set1 of matches lol)

Here’s a video of playing a match with PR123:

1.28PR Vs 1.28/1.23PR

I thought differences would be insignificant but i was wrong. Hybrid offers:

-Less stiffness which was instantly evident in my arm.
-More spin
-Not so lively like 1.23 but not so dead like 1.28. It plays like a more controlled / solid 1.23.
-More plush and more soft feeling in contact.
-Less SW. A bonus to me because i didn’t want to remove lead from my racquet.

Playtest over. If i ll keep using PR it would be only this hybrid. Easy choice.

It’s a blend of mega tac / solinco wonder. Wilson pro / super grap are different and less tacky.
Have you tried all 3 of their versions? Elite, Tru Tack, GripnRip? I have been going down a rabbit hole of overgrips where I am looking for the Tackyness of Mega Tac that doesn't turn slippery the second your hand sweats

I only tried elite because it was a present for my PR purchase. I am currently re-trying most overgrips (even nordicdots one) in the market. Haven’t settled yet.

Yes same with me, and will definitely try the elite per your recommendation. Currently experimenting with R2P Pro Tac with good results but open to any suggestions that meet the criteria of super tacky/sweat absorbing

For the Pure Rush users...
How many hours of playability do you get out of it? In terms of elasticity and snapback? Like how long before they feel dead?

And how is tension maintenance?

(I can play longer with lower tensions, but once my polys are "dead" no more elasticity, I can't play with them)

I’d also like to know this. I’m comparing it to Cyclone which I feel dies too quickly.

As a former full-bed Cyclone user who has fairly recently switched to full-bed PR, I’ve found the durability better and also found the break-in much shorter with PR. I also feel like when it does go, it doesn’t die in such a problematic way as Cyclone - if I need to squeeze a few extra sessions out of PR, it doesn’t seem to be as big of a drop-off in performance or comfort as I found with cyclone. Not sure what would explain that mechanically, maybe that’s just part of better durability in general, ymmv, etc, but it’s been a nice perk for me.
