First experience with Ghostwire 1.22 in the crosses with Lynx Tour. Should I string at the same tension as my mains or should I go a bit higher like a multi? Thanks for the help
I'd keep the same tension. Ghostwire, while a softer poly, doesn't stretch in quite the same way as a multi in my experience. As such, the tension doesn't need to be raised to counteract that extra bit of pull.

I’m really curious to hear how PR compares to other string setups for you. Also how full bed compares to GW hybrid.

In my case very different racket (18x20 gravity tour). I’ve liked Hyper G soft 1.20 (though not so great in this racket) and Tour Bite Soft 1.20 (amazing in this racket but only for a short time).
I've used Hyper-G Soft and Tour Bite Soft - 17g & 18g - almost exclusively for a while. I also do hybrids with one or the other with a round cross - mostly Hyper-G Round, Outlast, or Razor Soft. I'm also using an 18x20 frame (Volkl V8 Pro).

I've been trying Pure Rush 18g lately and really like it. It's got a lot of similar qualities to Hyper-G Soft, and some similarities to Tour Bite Soft. It has that great softer deep pocketing feel of Hyper-G, similar power level, and similar spin. I find Tour Bite Soft a bit stiffer and lower powered than Pure Rush, but surprisingly, the level of control is comparable. As far as playability duration, I'd say they're all pretty similar. To me, in a full bed, Pure Rush is the most comfortable of the three.

I plan to try it as a hybrid with Ghost Wire and/or Razor Soft, but haven't had the chance yet.

It's definitely a keeper for me. I like the similar playability of it to Hyper-G Soft (and the different/more muted color of it), and I like the comfort and overall playability of it over Tour Bite Soft. And the fact that it feels softer/is more comfortable but remains playable as long as the Solinco Soft strings is another plus. It really is a nice string!

I tried Pure Rush (1.28) / Ghost Wire (1.22) hybrid (PR/GW) strung at 50lbs in my Blade v9 100 based on @einca13 's advice. PR/GW pairs so well with the Blade v9 100 - akin to a rich glass of red wine and a succulent piece of steak.

Background - I was previously using HGS 16L / GW hybrid at 50lbs. I have to give full credit to @einca13 for recommending this combo - softer and more comfortable than the HGS/GW combo, plusher, better pocketing and very good directional control.

Despite findings by others that the PR/GW spin is above average, I personally can produce delicious spin from the strings and my balls are heavy and usually land close to the baseline (though I do note that spin is really more technique dependent than anything). I can comfortably take full swings at the ball without the doubt of the ball flying long.

The added power from the Pure Rush (noticeably more than HGS) gives me a slight advantage in my serves and has proven to be very useful in injecting more pace when I am attacking a ball.

Based on about 8 hours of play, the strings seem to retain their playability so far. If the PR/GW playability lasts for more than 2 weeks of play, this, without any doubt, will be my strings of choice.

Would be curious to hear your thoughts on the PR/GW hybrid vs full bed of PR at the same tension

I did lower 1-2lbs a couple of times, but ended up stringing GW the same tension as mains

I don't think I will try full bed (fb) PR since PR/GW works very well for my game and I don't think I will like the increased stiffness playing with a fb PR. I think if you scroll several pages before this, some players have given their input on playing with fb PR and PR/GW hybrid.

i originally tried 1.28 PR in a full bed in my 98 Blade at 49/48 lbs. My first impressions were a good solid setup. But as I played it, something seemed to be missing. Hard to put my finger on it. I typically use GW as a cross so I restrung the 16g with 17g GW at 49/47 and the string bed came alive. Great pocketing, feel and most important for me not launchy as tension dropped a bit. Just a great balance of attributes. I am thinking with the smooth round cross, the string bed just had better movement and worked better together. To be fair I am used to playing with GW as a cross so that could be part of it as well.

I believe some others have also had success with using PR as a full bed with different gauges, the smaller in the cross.

Yes I currently use it at 52/50 with PR 17g mains and 18g crosses per @Trip recommendation in my Yonex Percept 100D and find that it gives that extra bit of spin and shape that I was missing from a Full bed of 17g. I actually preferred this to using GW in the crosses but may give it a shot per your recommendation. I see more and more people are going lower tension so maybe I should give that a try. I am just concerned it would get too launchy at lower tensions...

I string in the high 40’s and I don’t feel it is launchy. Controlled power. But a few things to consider. I hit with a lot of spin, use a low powered frame and use a 16g main. Based on your game, frame and the fact you are using thinner gauges your tension may be just right a few pounds higher than me. There is only one way to find out though…

Awesome stuff. I'll be interested to see how many hours you get out of PR 17 / PR 18.

Yesterday i revisited PR/GW. The main reason i prefer full bed (1.28/1.23) is the more dwell time and at least for me it gives me more feedback. So in general i get more control and confident hitting with full bed with a little bit more help in terms of spin when lifting low balls. On the other hand i prefer the GW combo while serving or when playing more flat….. ball releases a lot quicker out of the stringbed. On defensive shots I believe i get more energy return with full bed. I will continue testing both.

I am thinking about trying the Pure Rush string. My current setup is Hyper G 1.2 / Ghost Wire 1.17, at ~22kg in a Head Speed Pro (18x20). Plays good, but I'm always looking for improvements.

Which gauge of Pure Rush do you think I should pick? 1.18 or 1.23?

Also, any comments on the differences between Hyper G and Pure Rush in a hybrid with Ghost Wire? What can I expect? Should I adjust the tension in some way?

Trip

Legend
@maciej84 — To answer your question, I would start with PR 1.23 / GW 1.17 at 23kg. HG 1.20 plays a bit thicker than its 1.20 numerical gauge would suggest and it's also a bit more firm per gauge than PR. Thus, starting with PR 1.23, and tensioning up a kilo, to compensate for more softness and pocketing, will probably get you closest to your current setup. You can then modulate on gauge and tension from there.

Hope that helps. Any questions, feel free.

And another win. All these years I haven’t seen a poly string that ticks most of the boxes in most of the reviewers. To me this is not the king of budget polys. To me it’s the best shaped poly i played since Lynx Tour and overall even better. It’s the string that solinco should have produced all these years but failed to bring sth that lasts more than 4 hours and plays as predictable as PR!

Would love to hear if anyone knows what string Lux Supreme would compare to. NXT or NRG/X-One? or more of a Sensation or Multifeel?

Trip

Considering Tru Pro's previous string characteristics, I would predict the multi will play somewhere in between NXT/NRG/X-One (all made by Tecnifibre in France) and Sensation/Multifeel (made elsewhere), but probably closer to NXT/NRG/X-One, especially if it's supposed to be TP's higher end offering. Will be interesting to see.

i’m wanting to try Pure Rush , but they’re sold out of 1.23. Has anyone hit 1.28, thoughts on it?

Edit-I’ve been reading the post above & it sounds like hybriding with Ghostwire is way to go. So it won’t matter as much with 1.28 Pure Rush, though I prefer 1.23 or 1.25 strings in the main.

I've used GhostWire as a cross for many strings (FireWire, Pure Rush, Black Knight, etc.) but never with Razor Code -- mostly because RC is already round and has performed brilliantly in a full bed. But I'm curious about trying that hybrid regardless. Has anyone here crossed RC mains with GW?

Did you tried GW with Lynx Tour on the mains? I recently tried Firewire boost in my strike vs and while I get very agressive cuts for the first two hours (Impresive and up to the hype) after that the string bed become a bit erratic and launchy at times with some weird bordiness closing the 3 1/2 hours and brake.
Had a problem with my order but luckily a friend got a reel and actually trying my usual FB in the mains paired with GW.
Thanks

No I’ve never tried Lynx Tour. (I’ve tried and hated Lynx Touch, which I recognize is a very different string).

I loved FireWire Boost in the Strike VS, probably my second favorite setup after full bed razor code. But I have a reel of razor code and want to continue to get those characteristics in the PSVS.

Just got an email from Tru Pro today. They're apparently getting low on Pure Rush sets and reels, so if you need more, now is the time to grab 'em. That said, they're expecting a full restock of all strings by late-January, plus the addition of their new premium multifilament, Lux Supreme.

Will be interested to sample Lux Supreme. Looking for the ideal multi main to pair with slick poly crosses. My ideal multi main would have the spin potential and snapback of Multifeel Black, the crispness and touch of Micronite, and the longevity/durability of a wrapped syn gut like Lightning Pro / Dynawire / AK Pro CX. Probably too much to wish for all in one string, but one can always hope!

I recently purchased a second hand racket that came with RC 1.25 / GW 1.22 mm, but prior to this I had not tried RC full bed or in a hybrid so not sure how helpful I’ll be. It felt good. I would describe it as “balanced”, no standout elements positive/negative, consistent, neither muted nor lively. I see this as an overall positive, strings become a non-factor while playing and lets you focus.

Among the other polys I’ve tried recently: full bed Hyper G, Lynx Tour, Paradox Pro, Tour Sniper, Tour M8, and GW crosses with Max Power, Max Power Rough, and Black Knight… I would say it feels closest to Lynx Tour but had better feel.

I find full bed of Lynx Tour a bit boardy compared with Confidential but really like the spin... RC will be similar? Thanks
RC/GW in a 100sq at low 40s lbs did not feel boardy, but I didn’t find Lynx Tour boardy either. RC/GW is definitely softer and less plasticky feeling.

Spin with RC is great. I prefer the thinner gauge (1.20) in white, at 47 lbs.

If I cross it with GW I’d probably do 47/45?

Played with Pure Rush 1.23 for a week
(Level 4.0)
I know now why the hype about the string. It's a very solid option. Has a nice feeling to it, softy, with tons of control. I can see it going well with a lot of different racquets. Certainly there isn't that much of "plasticky" feeling and offers good enough power at full swings.
Definitely worth trying if you're a hyper g type of player.
It has a blend of good characteristics. Spin potential is high as well, although it decreases with use, and also tension maintenance is average. So far the only downside is that it may not last a long time in the racquet.

I loved it as a full bed, although I can see the need of a slippery cross to maximize spin.

Great string, great price, the description in the cardboard says it all COMFORT POWER CONTROL... What a combo, and it delivers!

Curious to hear your hybrid experience. IME PR would benefit from a firmer cross. I’m 5 hours in with PR 1.23 and just had the experience you’re describing — lacked confidence in flat hitting during match play. I’m a high 4.0 so of course there’s room for improvement. But I definitely should not go to a lower gauge (as I first thought). Could stick with it or go higher. Current plan is to try BK in this racket.

UPDATE: BK123 plays really nicely. Much more what I was looking for in my Gravity Tour auxetic. Gives me great confidence, control and joy. It did take a full 5 hours to break in. Some of those were hitting with 8-11 year old juniors which may account for longer time period. After 5 is playing beautifully. At first was much stiffer than I expected (at 45 lbs). Should be at least a 3 lbs differential vs PR 123, maybe 5 lbs. As I said that string just didn't work me. For BK I may try to cross with something to soften a bit and give a bit more pop (PR? GW?). I have Tour Status already queued up next as Id heard it has more pop than BK but less than PR.

Do you guys feel like the edges of the strings wear down over time on Pure Rush? I know for sure that happened to me with Tour Bite. I feel the strings have less bite after 5+ sets, but that could just be the strings slowly dying.

Yesterday a tried two set ups on my Nordicdots M99 (usual set up Genesis New 1.25 47 lbs/ Ghostwire 1.22 45lbs )

1) Pure Rush 1.23 AT 45 lbs: Great feeling, spin, comfort, felt more power that my usual set up. I did feel that frame was a little "lighter" , i did not weight the racket with this PR, but defnitly weights less than my usual set up, so because of that I felt the racket more freely, I could generate easy spin....overall it felt great.

2) Pure Rush 1.23 at 47 lbs / Ghostwire 1.22 45 lbs : Felt more comfortable, great pocketing, easy feeling crushing the ball, the spin was average. But again I did felt it was "heavier" than whi the PR only. So i guess Ghostwire is a heavy string.

At this point I will continuo to use pure rush full bed and see how it behaves.

So i guess Ghostwire is a heavy string.
It's not so much that GW is a heavy string (I'd say it's average), as it is that PR is a fairly light one. I observed this stringing PR 1.23 for one of my main clients, who switched to it from full bed Atomos 1.25 (which I would say is fairly average weight), and the swing weight dropped about 3 pts if I remember correctly.
