Tru Pro Pure Rush vs Mayami Tour Hex

VanDerVaart23

Semi-Pro
Hello, has anyone played both and comment on similarities and differences?
Are they interchangeable without any difference?
On paper they have similar specs and colour

Thanks

Been awhile since Tour Hex for me, TH felt a little softer/less crisp, less spin (still good spin).

Pure Rush has sharper edges and is more firm (i strung 1.28 at 42lbs). More spin, but probably less ball penetration.

Both are great strings. Hard to choose!

Pure rush more powerful, more spin but for whatever reason they have the same control. I 'd go with Pure Rush every time, especially because you can choose from a variety of gauges.
Also if you are from Europe, Tour Hex is not a viable option anymore. I used to main Tour Hex but now switched to Pure Rush 1.28.

Ps : I compare TH 1.23 with PR 1.28.

In agreement with the other responses. In my opinion Pure Rush at least in the 1.28 gauge that I have been playing is a better string. Same control, slightly more spin and power, better pocketing and plays great right off the stringer. Haven’t even thought of trying anything else since I switched over.

TruPro is also a great company to buy from. Fast shipping, consistent pricing, always in stock and they have frequent sales throughout the year. My experience with Mayami has not been all that positive, although I do empathize with their situation.

Did you try 1.23 and hybrid with GW ?

I am playing 1.28 PR with a cross of 1.22 or 1.27 GW in a Blade and it is a great great combo.

I have not played 1.23 as I typically play strings 1.25 or higher in a main. I can’t imagine it would be drastically different, but probably a little more power/spin but greater tension loss.

I am curious what was your main string before the amazing PR….. and in general your top 3 choices….. ?

My previous set-ups that I would I play:

4G Soft/GW
Tourna Black Zone/GW
Grapplesnake Tour M8/GW
Black Knight/GW

All great mains with different strengths and weaknesses. Pure Rush (other than the color) checks all the boxes for me.

My 2nd favorite would be M8, which I crossed with GW but also liked as a full bed.

Black Knight was good too, but I hated the first hit break-in period.

Thank you guys
Excellent feedback!
I will try Pure rush 1.23 FB hopefully soon.
Powerful with same THEX control sounds like a dream

For the Pure Rush users...
How many hours of playability do you get out of it? In terms of elasticity and snapback? Like how long before they feel dead?

And how is tension maintenance?

(I can play longer with lower tensions, but once my polys are "dead" no more elasticity, I can't play with them)

For reference I get around 12 hours out of tour hex, and I think it loses more tension than elasticity

I get about 5 hours out of 1.28 PR before it is dead. But for me that is in-line with most poly strings. So in found the tension maintenance to be about average to other comparable strings.

@VanDerVaart23

For what it is worth: A 4.5 player I string for got 10 hrs out of PR 1.23 in a 16 x 19 Strike. DT when cut out was 29 ,at which point he said it was launching the ball.

Pretty different. Tour hex has a dampened feel and more control oriented. Pure rush is a more crisp connected feel with a bit of pop to it. Both are pretty good generating spin. I just tried the combo of PR/sync and really enjoyed it.

For me Tour Hex was a bit firmer/crisper/more connected but PR more powerful/forgiving/softer. Overall feel and spin is pretty similar though.

Opposing views here.

So which is actually more crisp and connected

Totally on board with topspn. I tried Pure Rush and I agree with the crisp/soft feeling with pop. Good control and same spin between both.
Tour Hex was my go to strng and indeed it's dampened control oriented string that I got the best of it putting something round and smooth in the crosses.

I think the "connected" portion could be referenced as dwell time, for that Pure Rush would stay longer in the string bed. Not a big difference there though

Crispness Pure Rush > TH
Control TH > Pure Rush
Spin SAME, with the possibility of increase spin of Tour Hex with round soft crosses
Power Pure Rush >> TH
Comfor Pure Rush > TH
Pocketing Pure Rush > (just a bit) TH

I don’t know about opposing. I think I just made a mistake with the wording of “dampened” Tour Hex is firm with that infusion of metal feel with pretty good connected feel. It is the more control oriented of the two. So they are both on the crisper side of feel but one brings it with that grey metallic feel and the other just a lively crisp feel. I might have used dampened before to describe the more subdued reaction of tour hex but it wasn’t the right choice of words.

Edit: sorry sorry scratch everything I said. I was totally thinking Tour Sniper and not Tour Hex. So Tour Hex compared to Pure Rush is in fact a bit more dampened comparatively speaking. It is not outright dampened but compared to PR, it is. It is more control oriented and doesn’t have that lively pop of PR. Another blue string, Super Toro almost comes in between these two in feel and control

really appreciate yall!!!

Would yall say that PR or RSZ is more dampened then? I think I'm really close to finding my final string setup after a year of trying so many strings.
