I recently ordered some Tier One strings (BK is my favorite) and was happy and surprised at the same time to receive a free set of Tour Status. I thought it was a new string but apparently not!
Here are my thoughts after a 2 hours hitting session. It was strung at 48 lbs on my Prince Beast 98. For comparison, that's my go-to tension and racquet.
From the first stroke, it seemed to me a bit crisper than BK, and I was afraid it would be uncomfortable. It was nothing major, and that feeling disappeared after 30 minutes (maybe I was just more focused on the game and less on the string).
I would rate power as intermediate, not far from a string like Cyclone.
I was not totally convinced by the feel, which let me with less confidence than BK. It was not mushy at all, but I felt less connected than with BK, for lack of good reason.
The string shined in the spin dept and I could easily generate loads of topspin.
About control... Well, that kind of string provides good control, right? It was likely me and not the string, but I made a lot of unforced errors (more than usual), especially on attacking FH. During all the session, my accuracy was rather low, but again it is likely me rather than the string that is to blame.
In all, my first impression is that it is a solid string, maybe a tad stiffer than what I'm looking for, middle of the road in terms of power and offering great access to topsin. Add to this the sustained durability/playability reported by others and Tour Status maybe a winner for many players. We will see how it goes after hitting a bit more with Tour Status, but BK will likely remain my string of choice.
Tier one has become my favorite string brand and I make them a good publicity around me
