He changed his serve snd is now doing pinpoint indstead of platform. Always thought he could get more out of his serve and this might be the solution. Could this be the beginning of a new, improved Stefanos?
I think for the same reasons players are abandoning one handed backhands. WTA players mostly use the pinpoint for a reason, less effort and more power.Platform seems to become abandoned by the top players. Can't think of anyone besides Novak in the top 10 who serves platform. Youngsters like Mensik, Fonseca, Prizmic : Pinpoint. Anyone knows reasons for this? cc @Serve Doc
seriously...platform, pinpoint, his issue is he looks like a kid chasing a butterfly with a net with his toss...needs to sit in. room with stich/krajicek slo mo serve vids for a week and just...internalize it.Is he no longer falling backwards and sideways?
He has to dump all the endless off court drama with his GF and obnoxious Daddy. If Holger can get rid of his mommy at age 20, Tsitsipas can sure dump his Dad since he's almost 26.Could this be the beginning of a new, improved Stefanos?
Seeing how it should be got nothing to do with being able to change to thatseriously...platform, pinpoint, his issue is he looks like a kid chasing a butterfly with a net with his toss...needs to sit in. room with stich/krajicek slo mo serve vids for a week and just...internalize it.

He should also eliminate all social media, get a real coach and then he might challenge for big titles again. He won't win slams, but he could win Masters 1000's. Becker and Tsits might be a good fit?
Musetti has changed from pinpoint to platform, but it hasn't helped him.Platform seems to become abandoned by the top players. Can't think of anyone besides Novak in the top 10 who serves platform. Youngsters like Mensik, Fonseca, Prizmic : Pinpoint. Anyone knows reasons for this? cc @Serve Doc

I believe so. They adopted the 2HBH much earlier than men too.Might the WTA actually leading the way in some efficiency aspects?
I think generally PP -> more power, PS -> better disguise is agreed upon. Roger (and Novak and to lesser extent Pete) no brute power servers, disguise, placement and spin (Pete) prevailI never gave much thought to platform v. pinpoint, although I guess I'd notice if an established player had changed.
Question: Am I correct that the platform stance is generally better for disguising location, or is that because I'm picturing Pete and Roger, and to a lesser extent, Novak?
Generalny i think platform is better for most accurate toss and directions od the serve pinpoint for more easy power.I never gave much thought to platform v. pinpoint, although I guess I'd notice if an established player had changed.

Don’t think platform has anything to do with that; platform vs pinpoint is more about stability vs power: eg Isner, Groth, Karlovic (and Roddick depending on your definition of pinpoint).I never gave much thought to platform v. pinpoint, although I guess I'd notice if an established player had changed.

I don't think we can say Tsitsipas is completely done when he's only 25. Consider he made a slam final just 13 months ago. The Netflix episode on him clearly showed a guy wildly enjoying his fame, good looks and money while driving around Monte Carlo in a Ferrari (or Lamborghini). And his GF is a major distraction. I wonder if tennis is the main priority in his life.Tsits has now lost his last 6 matches against top 20 players. Moreover, Los Cabos was his last title and he couldn´t defend it. He´s done - regardless of his serve.
Pinpoint gives you more power. Platform give you better control.Platform seems to become abandoned by the top players. Can't think of anyone besides Novak in the top 10 who serves platform. No. You are correct. The reason why the platform stance is better for disguising your serve is because it allows you have better shoulder rotation and keep your body sideways in the trophy position.I never gave much thought to platform v. pinpoint, although I guess I'd notice if an established player had changed.

I mean despite Ruud struggling in 2023 somewhat like Tsitsipas is currently in 2024 (and still made a slam final) and everyone's seething hatred for him for some reason, he's no pushover when he's playing well... and I think Tsitsipas has had a back injury since before Aus (most likely the reason for the shift in serve technique), so yeah idk, not ready to write him off, and I think Casper has been playing a lot better this year so not a shock he would lose to him, i think anyone could lose to him on his day except maybe Rafa/NovakTsits has now lost his last 6 matches against top 20 players. Rune and Fritz are platform servers.Platform seems to become abandoned by the top players. Can't think of anyone besides Novak in the top 10 who serves platform. Youngsters like Mensik, Prizmic : Pinpoint. (Fonseca is Platform) Anyone knows reasons for this? cc @Serve Doc
Problem is Stephanos should already have a Slam or Two under his belt. My opinion is that IF he hit a twohanded backhand he would already have been ranked one or two in the world . His SERVE is Excellent , HIS FOREHAND deadly despite the Eastern grip ala Federer but he is NOT Stan the man Wawrinka on the backhand wing which gets beatup on alot. He goes for too far too much topspin in rallies on the backhand and his maneuvering slice (which he is finally using more) floats too much and does not stick to the ground nor penetrate much. He is coming in more which is a plus . Running around your backhand can get tiring in long matches. However I never recall seeing a pro player shank more balls into orbit than Stephanos (loss of focus ?) Tsitsipas game seems to have taking a nosedive after losing to Djokovic at Roland Garros being Up 2 sets to Love and losing. However his serve has improved and I do believe he has a Slam trophy in his system if he tweaks his game ,gets a good draw and stays focused. Right now he is the most talented underachiever with number one in the world possibilities ... (Did I hear someone say Nick Kyrgios?)He changed his serve snd is now doing pinpoint indstead of platform. Always thought he could get more out of his serve and this might be the solution. Yes, a good approach into the Tsitsipas backhand gives a nice 95% chance you win the point.I still don't think Kyrgios is that great a talent. He's got a big serve and likes to showboat and that's basically it. Tsitsipas IS a talent, but the backhand is such a liability. I've seen a ton of his matches and once – only once – have I ever seen him pass a guy ay the net with his backand. You don't win slams with that shot.
