There was a video of him practicing with Carlos and he said to his dad/coach then, "I have never seen anyone returing with the backhand so powerful back-to-back, I have to try that racket".

I don’t see his backhand looking worse. He’s in an adjustment period for sure, but aspects of his backhand look better and his forehand seems to have slightly more to it from what I can see. I quite like his returning for his standards on such a court tbh.
