Tsitsipas Blacked out racket!

Makes sense considering he said he switched back to the Blade because he didn't like how the Aero worked for him on clay. But now we're onto 9 months of hard courts again.

I dont think thats the Aero. Plus it has a red Wilson buttcap.

Could it be the Khachanov racket?

Maybe it's a new Blade coming up with new aero-like design?
I had posted this in the Khachanov thread

I heard from a former pro friend this weekend, that Wilson is scrapping the Shift silo and will be introducing this racket as a new silo. Wilson seeing many players going to the PA98, they wanted to tap into that market as well. He got to hit with the prototype, and he said it was awesome. Looking forward to seeing this future release

Prizmic is playing the San Marino challenger with the Aero VS, that he played with before signing with Wilson in 2024, some yellow paint is visible below the blacked out paintjob. With a red W endcap

Throat shape is clearly not the new Wilson prototype

I am pretty sure that you don't get a red buttcap on a Aero

It can be changed - but the problem is rather to find the customizer that wants to get into this struggle with brands ;)
What? Customizers don't have any "struggle" with brands...sure, some guys get their racquets right out of a company's pro room, but there are plenty that are taking theirs to outside customizers and switching a buttcap is easy, especially when the overgrip is already coming off for a switch to leather...

Not to mention…in many cases, it’s as simple as swapping out the trap door. Not sure on Wilson vs Babolat, but I know most are interchangeable (provided they don’t have weights attached, ala Solinco and certain Head models).

I don’t get the logic behind training with the blacked out racket and going to the Blade in the match….and losing.

Very weird
He’s mentally unstable and in his head too much he goes back to what he knows because he must feel more comfortable for whatever reason this guy needs a shrink or to work with a sports psychologist as he’s in his own head too much and is full of self doubt he needs stability . In professional sports the mental is as important as the physical this guy had so much potential and was one set away from winning a GS it’s sad what has happened to him. I honestly don’t see him recovering

He's been doing that for a while now, 2 years he's been experimenting with setups, lower sw, 16mains, gut hybrid etc, and then at the end of 2024 returned to his old setup and found some of the old game and consistency. Since then he regularly returns to his old setup

Especially here in Canada, with fast flat flying US Open XD balls, quick surface and high temps. Conditions are exactly what he doesn't like, in every sense. Completely logical that he would play his old setup to try to get through. Not surprised he lost, and O'Connell really played well, didn't give anything and went for winners with incredible precision

Why would he practice hit with the testing setup beforehand is another question for sure, maybe he wanted to see how it plays in these conditions. And surely he had more than just one practice session, testing returning etc

Also, Stef was very calm in the match, focused. But again, it was boom-boom tennis, little to no play. I haven't watched any highlights but I would guess they consist of the only 6 points in the match where there was an actual rally

Having said all that, both DC and now Canada are too quick, lame tennis. Or no tennis in so many matches, if there's just one big hitter. The other player then also has to hig-big-or-die. Just rush to rush your opponent. Most points don't even reach 3 shots

Personally I'm here for that kind of tennis in this day and age.

Tsitsipas looks like he's in some kind of hellish nightmare right now between the snip/snap/snip/snap coaching and racquet changes. Having no confidence in your equipment or your box with razor-thin margins in every match can't be fun.

I rarely change racquets as i hate it getting in my head that if I miss a shot thinking I would have made it with my old stick, when really i know its my lazy footwork :) . Wow though for a top player to have a stick messing with his head so much a few weeks out from a slam
