Tsitsipas has very limited potential

If you break down his game - everything is either average or below average. Forehand in particular is spectacularly average. There is no power or penetration to it. I noticed that even the underweight midget De Minaur had a much bigger forehand than Tsitsipas - and Tsitsipas is much taller. His serve is also very average for his height (this recalls Berdych). His backhand is a one-hander, so automatically weak against high balls, and furthermore his slice is poor so the one redeeming feature about having a one-hander is negated. His movement is above average for his height, but he is taller than average, so his movement is average overall. He just doesn't seem to have any weapons at all, and his defense is merely average, so doesn't compensate for it.

Honestly, it seems that the only reason he is getting semi-decent results is that he has mentally matured faster than the other players in his peer group. That is something that just comes with age, so my prediction is that as soon as his peers catch up to Tsitsipas in maturity (which is an inevitability), they will leave Tsitsipas far behind.

of all the younger guys, he has one of the best first serve + forehand combo.

But the caveat here is “of all the young guys.” And they all are complete crap.

Some tout Tsitsipas like he’s going to be the savior of tennis. If you compare his serve-combo combination, it’s nowhere near (remotely) the level of ATG’s like Pete, Lendl or Boris. It’s not nearly as good as guys like Blake or Raonic. It’s merely good when compared to “the young guys,” and that’s one hell of a low bar.

He'll improve his serve. Mark Knowles was saying on TC that he throws the toss too far behind his head and doesn't get good power, and he'll have to improve on that.

Let's remember that he's only 20.

I'm sure with his now $2,000,000 in prize money (plus nice endorsement deals) that he can hire some good coaching to improve his serve.

A slightly better serve and he will start competing for slams once Fed, Nadal, Djok retire...

So all the young guys are complete crap, yet you laugh at the idea of Nadal and/or Djokovic passing Federer in slams?

Have you watched him live? His game just has such a nice flow to it that doesn't come through on television.

troll or otherwise, I think the OP is basically correct.

and this post basically nails it:

The only match I saw from him was when he played Rafa in Toronto. I'll guess he's got an OK game, but nothing that blows my mind? Then again, I could say the same of pretty much any next gen guys.

People always say Djokovic's FH is Tier 2 at most, but I swear his is miles better than Tsitsipas's at the same age.

Well, if the "win WTF and have a crap next year" curse continues, then you just might be right
Dimitrov and Zverev are mentally weak. Tsitsipas is mentally super tough, he will be the future of tennis, together with Medvedev. Stop hyping Zverev. That brat will never win a Slam.

How the hell do you win 16 majors with a Tier 2 forehand ??? Anyone with that view has very limited knowledge of tennis. It’s the same as those people who think Federer has a weak backhand. 20 majors with a weak backhand ??

And then the clincher “Sampras was a servebot”.
