Natural gut is a by product of the meat industry and far more environmentally friendly than polyester which don’t biodegrade and come from the plastic industry.
I think if animals are going to be produced for meat, we should strongly support whole animal use to maximize the benefit of the animals death.
Things aren’t binary and it’s not hypocritical to be against animals for meat production but accept if the animal is going to die we should be as utilitarian as possible.
yeah, I was relieved a bit to read on somewhere, that the gut is only taken from cows that are slaughtered for the meat. Where I live, on the outskirts between cities there are dairy farmers where
one can drive by seeing hundreds of dairy cows so I guess they are the lucky ones as these are not slaughterhouses. I'm a regular meat eater, fastfood burger partaker, or enjoying a steak or orange chicken
or pork from panda express, etc. But man, realizing that a
single string set of gut had to come from
three slaughtered cows for the first time, just kind of made me sick to my stomach.
I mean I've have/had pet cats. And I'd heard cat gut used to be used for surgical strings or other things..
I've used Wilson's "champion's choice" once, (natural gut & alu power combo) recently since last year. And now debating with myself , and I feel in my 'gut', whether to go with syn gut for my next mains restringing.
